Ugh! Teenagers, Is this a Test?

My daughter turned 16 this week, she does well at school, is helpful and respectful at home and gives me minimal grief. About a month ago she asked if she could have her nose pierced for her birthday. I have no problem with piercings (on other people's Kids;-)) and think that a small diamond nose ring looks quite pretty and delicate. I gave it a lot of thought and consideration and figured (thanks Barbara Colloruso), it's not immoral or illegal and no one is getting hurt. I told her that yes she could have that for her birthday and I braced myself to go through with it. Last week she came to me and said "Mommy, it's enough for me to know that I can have it pierced if I want to but what I really want is an electric guitar and an amp." I must admit that I was relieved but walked away shaking my head and wondering, what kind of test was that and how did I do? :)

I think I'd push for the piercing. Guitars and amps are loud . . . and lead to even noisier things like garage bands.

Hey Maggie!
She got a 'sweet' guitar, a red and gold "Epiphone (?) Special 2" a with a medium/small amp and she's thrilled with it. I'm pleased with her taste in music too, she's loving Jimmy Hendrix and Led Zepplin these days, we have taught her well;) Although, the piercing would have been way cheaper:+

Edited to say: Shari, I also invested in a good set of earphones:)

uh oh. gets me nervous, too! My son is only 1 yr old, now ;) Is that what is coming down the road? I think you did quite well! In fact, I have been trying to convince my hubby that I would look great with another tattoo. Am I bad or what?
