Question #1 Does anyone have a problem with the sides of there big toes getting real tough painful skin on the sides of them from there workout shoes. I have tried numerous shoes and the side of my big toes have tough skin and when you touch it, it kind of splits and hurts. I tried a pumice stone and that made it worse. I do a lot of step so I think it could be related to that, or is it the shoes, or is it sweat. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Question #2 Does anyone know of a website which have tanks or tee's related to fitness. Mostly I want something about being tough and having muscles. Like real women have muscles or something cute like that. If you know of any let me know. If not they really should have something like that. Karen

Hi there
Cant really help ya on the first problem cuz I get that too! I usually just soak my feet in warm water after my workouts and I bought a foot kit from bath n body where you scrub then put moisturizer on then put lil booties on to sleep in overnight.
Now the second question....www.otomix.com has some cute tees/tanks that say someting to the effect of chicks kick butt. I dunno how nice they are cuz I have only bought pants from there but they ook cute.

When you use the pumice stone, you need to stay off the workouts for a day or so after. You use the pumice to get rid of that skin but then your skin is tender. If you then workout again, you are torturing tender skin. I always try to use the pumice the day before the rest day after my workout b/c that gives it a day and a half to rest up before you hit it again. :)

Try to be aware of this when you buy your shoes. I have had better luck with some shoes than others and there are some that dont bother this at all. I usually have two pair of workouts shoes at a time so that I can rotate them and at least one of the two cannot bother this area. The second sometimes bothers a little but I try to really pay attention to that when I buy them.

Another thing is that you need to watch your socks and the seem that goes across the toe. I knw this sounds stupid, but if that is going over the tough area, it will make it worse and irritate more.

These aren't major solutions, but they should help a little bit, I hope!

Karen, here is a link to some Tees and tanks at Fitness Wholesale. I like the "Real Women Sweat". There is also one: If you want to look like a fox, you have to sweat like a pig!" Ha! As far as the tough skin on your big toe, I have the same problem on both of my big toes. Mine do not hurt at all, just very calloused. Good Luck!

Hey everyone thanks for all the great advice and suggestions. Trust me I will never do the pumice stone thing again in that area. By the way how often should you buy new workout shoes? Karen

Karen,
You might also consider putting Vaseline, liberally, on your toes before you work out and then before you go to bed at night, throw a pair of old socks on over the messiness of it. This will help to soften and condition the skin so that it won't be so cracked and painful. I say Vaseline b/c you probably have it on hand, and it not, at least it's cheap. There are more expensive products out there for cracked feet/calluses, that might work better, but you'll pay more. Give it a try, it's helped me tremendously.
