Turbulence Training vs Cathe's circuits?

For those of you who have done TT.
Do you think it is possible to create a TT workout using Cathe's circuits 3x's a week?

I own every circuit workout she has produced. I think it would be more fun to follow Cathe than a workout on paper:)

I'm interested in this too. Love Cathes circuits but have a hard time fitting them into my routine.

Push Pull & Super Sets

Hi,

I own TT also and am not very good at followinga written routine. I guess I'm so used to DVDs. I think the Push Pull and Supersets workouts are similar. Personally I love Cathe's High Step Circuit Intermediate and I think that is a good workout although I don't recall TT combining cardio then weights. It's been a while since I have done TT but think the weight training is done first then cardio after. I think the basic idea of TT is total body workouts and interval cardio so these Cathe workouts have both.

Cindy,

Are TT weighted work done in circuit fashion?

I've seen a sample of the workouts, but never tried them. They look like they would produce a cardio effect.
So, are you saying any full body workouts would mimic TT? Do you use heavy weights with TT or are they more bodyweight exercises?

Hey Cynthia; I was reading another thread about the Turbulence Training... is this the same training package you were inquiring about? http://www.turbulencetraining.com/lose-fat.shtml

or are there many different TT programs. It reminds me of the BFFM program, but have not done either... Just wondering if you ended up getting into this or passed it up...

TIA! :)

Hi Cynthia,

If you ask to be put on the free TT email list, Craig will send sample TT workouts almost every day. They are typically all weight training based. He's a firm believer in 20 minute HIIT done on separate days from the TT workouts. I have to warn you though, his emails can be obnoxious ("CARDIO IS EVIL!") as he's never tried any fun, high intensity cardio like Cathe or Amy. He only contemplates "long, slow boring cardio" as the one thing a person might do. Here's a recent bodyweight circuit workout he sent.

) Prisoner Squats - 20
2) Jumping Jacks - 50
3) Cross-body Mountain Climbers - 10/side
4) Bulgarian Split Squats - 10/side
5) Narrow Pushups - 20 (Hands SHOULDER-WIDTH Apart)
6) Jackknife (feet on ball, hands on ground) - 10
7) Burpees - 10
Rules:
a) Repeat again and again and again (if you can)
b) 20 minute time limit
c) each rep is 1 Point
I substituted Squat Thrusts for the Jackknife, since I didn't have
a ball in my room.

HTH!

I ended up passing the TT package up. I was tempted for about a day or two, but I got over it. Craig's sale approach really annoys me. It's just all just too hokey for me.
I own almost all of Cathe's weighted work, Jari Love, Amy Bento, P90X, Gin Miller, and very soon Chalean Extreme & STS. I have a lot to keep me busy!

Thanks Cynthia & Jonahnah! I think I have enough on my plate, workout wise... with STS coming up... I just need to get back into WW or some other healthy eating and will stick to DVD's (especially Cathe) to get me through my daily workouts!

Jonahnah - have you done any of these emailed workouts? I would have to google each one to figure out what they were and how to use proper form... and without someone egging me on I'm not sure doing my own circuit workouts is in my best interest right now... although the more I gain in experience and endurance I might find these (with the assistance of my Ipod) a good challenge. One of the gals in another T-day check in has been doing her own circuit rotations and has had some good results!

I'll keep this in mind, but probably won't buy the whole program. ~ thanks again~ :)

Dani, I haven't. Partly it's because I think Craig is an obnoxious self important blowhard! (Aren't I awful??) Seriously, they don't seem to have much fun factor. I also prefer to follow along with a dvd or I might make up one of my own, using gymboss.

I bought one of those gymboss's too! a few months ago... haven't used it yet, but I think that if/when I ever do my own circuit workout I'll have it to use! :) be sure to post if you ever do a rotation of your own and have success!

thanks for your review, and no I don't think it was aweful, especially if it is true! ;)

I will continue to build my Cathe library next spring and stick to this path for now!
