Tuesday Check in

Good morning everyone :) Just getting us started

I have to go get more bloodwork done for my thyroid. the doctor said its on the low side. they called me yesterday and want me in asap. This is the THIRD time they are taking my blood for the same thing (they found out in July). I mentioned this in last nite's check in but it was rather late, so I'm sorry to repeat myself. The doctors arent telling me anything so I sit here and wonder - i dont even know what it all means. All i know is they are testing free t3 and free t4 today and my total t4 came back normal but my tsh was really low. Does that mean anything to anyone?? LOl. Melanie answered me last nite and said it was a common pregnancy woe but i havent seen anyone on here mention it. The doc told me it could harm the baby but didnt really explain it to me, despite my questions. I dislike going to the doctor. And now for the third time since july i will be getting stuck with another needle!

Anyway, i'm purchasing the pack n play after that. Hope i like it. Its relative cheap - altho i know you can get one new at the same price, but it doesnt have all the extras. Hopefully baby will like it.

i have a small belly now and my husband noticed first thing when he got home from work this morning and he rubbed it and got all excited. That's so cute :) He isnt one to show affection toooo much, so i take what i can get!

I hope everyone is feeling alright today, talk to you soon

Good morning!
I hope everyone has a great day planned! I am going to work, yuck. DD is of to school and ds has the last day with our babysitter who is moving away Thurs. We are really going to miss her.
I am still suffering terribly with leg cramps. I have tried everything I can think of. I hate gatoraide, but I did drink some in the hopes it would help. I am all full up on calcium suppliments and multivitamins. I have stretched, taken hot baths, stretched some more. This has been going on since Sat. Any other thoughts?
Jenm- they just want to keep close tabs on your thyroid function because you are pregnant, which can make it fluctuate wildly. At some point you may need supplimentation. Please try not to worry, it may resolve it self after delivery. My suggestion is to google it and read up.
Kristan-how is your new "work week" going? Please let me know, I am going to try the same thing!
Trish-How are you settling in La.?
Kate-How are your workouts? Are you still doing cardio? I forget how hard it is to do cardio when pregnant!
Jen-have a nice smooth day at school. I hope the air conditioning is back on:)
Susan-what is up for this week (well besides THAT;))
Maggie-How is the baby? Has she straightened out night and day?
Stephanie-When are you due again?
Hi Candra!
Okay, on another good note, I felt the baby move last night. I had been worried because I felt the other 2 easily by 16 weeks. This little bugger has had me worried, especially since I had the flu and all. Anyway. I feel such relief! And it was a good solid movement, like a swift kick. No gas pains there!

good morning mikkia - yay on feeling the baby move! i'm coming up on 15 weeks and i dont feel anything. i thought it was too early. i'm just now growing a belly..and also growing more in my butt (grr..) it could just be in my head, but i dont think so!

i have tried to do research on the net, but it doesnt get me very far. and when i find out info i cant find much related to pregnancy. i just worry becuase its excessive bloodwork (in my opinion) and she mentioned it could harm the baby. So that is my main concern, of course.

Jen~I know my neighbor had low thyroid and she found out before she was pregnant, but they have her on medicine for it and they check it often now that she is preg. I bet they just want to moniter it closely to make sure it's not getting worse or maybe they'll put you on meds if it's really low. I wouldn't worry it's probably precaution.

Mikkia~I am right now just doing cardio. I try to get 2x per day since I am not running and I am just walking. I try to do a morning walk that is really fast heart pumping type, but then in the evenings (after my son is out of school) I like to take them for a slower walk and he'll ride his bike. It depends how hot it is here though. It's been some really hot days like 95-100+ and so we haven't went then. I also have the option to go to the gym now to use the elliptical so in a few more weeks that might be what I prefer since there is no impact on that.

Hello everybody. I have a wicked sore throat and am going to be super lazy today. Need to get breakfast on for the kiddos - bbl.........

Hi all. Planning a trip to the gym with the two younger kids so I can run on the treadmill.

Yesterday was wonderfully efficient until I had to call pediatrician's office with, "Yes, hello, my 7yo dropped the baby..." Mimi seems fine, but EVERYONE was crying yesterday afternoon- me, baby, 7yo, 5yo, etc.

Here are our vacation pictures- just realized there's not one pic of me. I guess that's what happens when mom takes the pictures:

Hi ladies!
Jen2--Yey on the belly!!! How exciting! As for the thyroid, I'm don't know anything about it, but I am a total worrywart who writes all questions down on paper before going to the doc. Works like a charm, because with pregnancy brain I'd forget if I didn't write it down! I'm sure it's all fine.

Mikkia--I'm 34 weeks today. How far along are you? I'm so glad you felt the baby move!! I didn't feel this little guy till around week 20/21, and I was worried sick because, like you, I had felt the other boys much earlier. I think that it being the third had something to do with it. I was too busy to really notice all of the nuances that I noticed the other two times. Now he won't stop kicking me!!! :) And when he has a lazy day and I want to test him, I just crack open a rootbeer (well, I do that almost every day...). Ah cravings. One sounds good right now!!

Trish--HI!! Hope you're doing well!

Kate---Sorry about the sore throat. Didn't your DD have a sore throat a week or so ago? Looks like she's sharing the love . Hope you feel better soon!

Kristan--HOW HORRIFYING!!! I know you were a basketcase! I am so worried about the boys trying to be "helpful" and picking up the baby. We've had several talks about it, but I still worry. Glad Mimi is OK. She's having to go through initiation early!! :) ((hugs))

Well, Henry is so mad/sad this morning because I won't let him go to preschool. He was really looking forward to it, but he is stuffy and has a bad cough this morning. He slept well, though. And he has no fever, but I don't want to send him with this cough. I think he could be contagious, and I don't want the whole classroom coming down with whatever this is. He's very sad. Looks like I won't be taking him to soccer either because it's raining (and, of course, he's sick). What a sucky day for him. :( I plan on doing some odds and ends around here. Hope you all have a great day.

Oh, I wanted to ask: I think I've "dropped." I looked in the mirror before my shower last night, and after overcoming the initial mortification, I noticed that my belly looked really low. I don't remember which week I "dropped" with the boys. Is 34 weeks too early? Also, I'm craving rootbeer like crazy, but I hate to keep drinking the fully loaded stuff. Do any of you drink diet drinks? I'm not sure if the artificial sweetener would hurt the little guy. I use Splenda in my hot tea and on my strawberries, but I haven't been drinking diet drinks, just water and my daily rootbeer. Any thoughts?

guess I'll just join in here? ;)

not much to post as far as checkup since I just found out. DH is going to try to get me the blood test even though its obvious. I've taken two EPTs and I'm 4 days late.
I'm going to find out about if I can get an off-post dr for my checkups or not. I tend to be highrisk though since my first pregnancy I had preeclampsia (so they stick you on the highrisk forever after that I think?) and I also have a problem where my blood platelets drop during the pregnancy to where they do not even allow me meds at the birth. It could make it worse.. basically my blood will not clot and I could bleed too much. yikes. I have to say it still makes me really nervous. They make me give birth in a hospital with a ready blood supply. sigh. Maybe this time around it won't happen at all. we'll see.

Fitmommyof2 - thanks for the input. I just odnt like taking meds more than i have to. I'll see what they find out...i just dont like hearing it can harm tthe baby, then they dont explain it, and take their sweet time (they knew in July). Sigh..

Kate - hope you feel better! I have a feeling you are still going to workout tho, yesterday you said there was no way you would and u ended up doing classical stretch (i think) Lol. Take it easy, its OK to rest and take it easy on yourself :)

Hi cavillo - welcome! (are you new here or have i missed your old posts - i'm 15 weeks so havent been in the check that long..)

About the diet soda's that is what i drink. if its not water, its crystal light, caffeiene free diet pepsie, or diet gingerale. I dont thikn its harmful, my doctor said it was ok. I also use splenda in my teas and coffees. I k now you have to watch the caffeiene intake. She didnt seem too worried about diet drinks though when I inquired. Everything in moderation maybe? Maybe you can ask your doc or search the web, altho thats not always accurate!

Maybe other people will chime in shortly and have better advice. Hopefully its ok, becuase i have some every now and then!

Hi ladies. I've posted a couple of times, but later in the evening & then I think I miss out on everything. I lurk, but it takes me a while to decide if I'm ready to post or not.

Hi Calvillo. Congrats on your pregnancy. Just wanted to chime in that I also have thrombocytopenia---which gets worse during pregnancy. My platelets drop to about 50,000 during pregnancy & am unable to have any epidural type meds. This has led me to have C-Sections for my past two babes---which in my opinion, is better than having a baby without an epidural. I have to go under general anesthesia--so I don't get to "meet" my babies until they're about 4-5 hours old. That's the part that really sucks. I have read about this happening in pregnancies, but have never really "spoke" to anyone else with this situation. Anywho--congrats again.

Cavillo~do you live on an Army post? I see you said off-post. As an Army wife that caught my eye. IF so where are you at? Sorry to hear w/ all the trouble you have had before. I hope you don't have any issues this time! Each pregnancy is diffrent!

Stephanie~maybe yoru little guy is just engaged in your pelivs now. I am not sure I remember when it happened w/ my others. This time I feel i am just carrying really low so I don't know if I'll notice when I "drop"

Kristan~ ((hugs)) I am glad all is well, but I bet that was scary. These things do happen though. ((hugs))

As for diet sodas I have them occasionally, I also drink regular soda and now that root beer was mentioned I might have to have one today! I think everything in moderation is fine. I don't think a few diet sodas or a few regular ones are going to do any harm. If all you drink is diet soda all day that might not be great, but just 1 a day I wouldn't worry about.

Good Morning!

I just got home from dropping Wil off at school and I need to get on the elliptical. I was up at 3:30am with Owen who had wet his bed, so I didn't wake up early to exercise. Doctor appt. went great yesterday. He said the baby's head is down and he should stay that way. He also told me to go and register at the hospital which kinda freaked me out b/c it means this baby is really going to come out:eek:

Stephanie, I just asked my doctor yesterday about artificial sweeteners he said they are safe just not to overdo it. He didn't seem to mind that I drink diet drinks.

JenM, how exciting to be getting a belly!

Calvillo, welcome and congrats on the pregnancy! Is this your 2nd?

Jen, I am swelling in my feet, but yesterday the doctor said "I am shocked how well you are doing with swelling". I was like are you crazy my toes look like hotdogs!

Kristan, have fun running on the treadmill. It must feel great exercising w/out a baby in there. I can't remember what it is like:D

Mikkia, I'm glad you felt the baby move it is so reassuring.

Kate, sorry about the sore throat. Hope you feel better.

Trish, sounds like you are doing great with your workouts and weight gain!

I am off to workout and do some laundry b/f Owen has gymnastics

Candra

Melanie - I've never met anyone else with the same condition! I didn't know a c-section was an option though? they never told me to do that. They always wanted me to wait. They just expect me to be tuff and not worry about no meds. ugh! They did say last time that I did loose a bit too much blood but they never gave me any. Just one of the nurses mentioned it after he was born and it kinda creeped me out! Thankfully my labors are fast usually (crossing fingers) and last only about 4 hrs. They start hard and fast though and I go strait the hospital... sigh. Well my first was enduced because of the preeclampsia but it went fast too.

Fitmommyof2 -We live off post but I usually go on post to see the dr and had my last son in the army hospital. We live off of Ft. Hood near Killeen TX. My last son was born at Ft. Bragg NC. My husband just finished PA school and works here now. Where are you at? do you live on post?

Candra - this will be my 3rd. Its kinda funny that all my kids will be 5 years apart though. I got them all spread out lol! My oldest will be just turning or have turned 11 when the baby comes. Looks like the due date is the day after his bday. Atleast he'll be able to help me out some. ;)

How low do your platelets get?

I've always gone into back labor after working a full-shift. My labors are long & intense coupled with no urge to push. With baby#2 noone told me I couldn't have epidural until I was in labor. I was really pissed off---that was my birth plan. They made me get on all fours, go in bathtub, bounce on a ball, all sorts of stuff to "unstick" baby Justin that I didn't care to do at all. I was begging---crying for a C-Section. Finally, they gave me one. Now I just schedule them right off that bat. ;)

Busy board today!

Even tho I feel crummy I did ME UB. DDs were playing so good I couldn't resist. Did I say I was going to be lazy today? I'm actually getting a lot done. At least we're home - that always helps. Our poor house is a disaster.

Midwife appt went well. I must've forgot what I weighed because apparently I gained 2.5 pounds over the month. She looked at my food journal and was pretty happy with it. She said add more carbs and calories. Yeah right I say! We discussed a lot about post-partum help for me and I'm really bumming about the lack of help that I'm going to get. It's going to be tough to get Gina on the bus by 8 and get Isabel to preschool by 9 (taking a newborn baby with me!). Isabel might just be missing a few days of preschool here and there. Mike's solution is just to hire a nanny to help me. My solution is that he can be around for a couple hours in the mornings. Our mothers are less than helpful so that's pretty much out too. Sorry to ramble.... I actually could a whole lot more but I don't want to bore anybody. thanks for listening!

JenM - Sorry about the bloodwork. Yuck. Yay to DH seeing a belly tho! That’s super exciting! Post a pic if/when you can. And you’re right - I did workout. I just can’t NOT!

Mikkia, That stinks to lose a good babysitter. I know the feeling - one of my sisters left for college last week - wah!!! Maybe the leg cramps are due to a lack of potassium??? Try eating a banana everyday and see if that helps? Still doing cardio, but its generally walking/Leslie Sansone. I don’t think I’ve done an official step WO since RT - gasp! Would love to do some RS but I think those days are over for a while! (sigh) ^5 to baby moving!!! I love that feeling.

trish, How’s it going today? Not too hot I hope! I’m carrying very low too. Lots of people say I’ve dropped - grrrr!

Kristan, so sorry about Mimi! Your poor 7-yo must’ve felt horrible! Hugs from us to her! I’ll check out your vaca photos in a bit - I’m never in mine either.

Stephanie, Yes, the sore throat is making its rounds. At least it should go thru all of us before school starts next week. Poor Henry! Maybe a popsicle will help him get over not going to preschool?! As far as yor belly dropping - my midwife told me that with 3rd+ babies most don’t “drop” until labor actually begins….keep us posted! What’s DH think? As I said above, I’m showing very low. Midwife checked her position last night and she said her head is very low in my pelvis! ^5 to baby! No clue on the root beer - I haven’t had a pop in 7 years!

Calvillo, Good luck on the blood issue. I have my births med-free. IF you’ve done it 2x, you’ll do great again!

Hello Melanie!

Candra, I feel the same way - like this is REALLY going to happen! I overhead my midwife tell another Prego “Delivery isn’t the end - it’s the beginning.” Made me do some thinking and I’m kinda freakin’ out now too! Busy day for you today! Enjoy your WO and laundry!

Hi all! Legs are much better this pm. Thank God! I will try to eat a banana everyday, Kate, thanks for the suggestion!
kristan-I am so sorry about Mimi. Is she okay? I know that must of been terrible for everyone.
cavillo-welcome! I think I am your closest neighbor here. We live in Kerrville, west of you all on I-10. Congratulations!
melanie-how are you doing? I hope better. I think of you often!
Kate-hope your feeling better soon. I know how you feel about after the baby, my dh says the same thing about a nanny, and neither of our parents are helpful. I keep saying that I want to take care of the baby and someone else can take care of all of the other stuff (mainly work, but that is a whole other issue right now). I will have a csection so I will be out of commisssion as far as driving carpool and stuff for about 10 days. What to do!
stephanie-i have a thing for rootbeer too. I don't drink diet anything, but for some reason root beer sounds good. 34 weeks, you are almost done!!!
jenm-did you get your pack n play?
trish-hi!!!
go to go, being to pour and I left laundry out!
