Hi everyone--just a quick post--I'll try to do a longer one this evening. Just came down to photocopy math sheets--we're almost halfway done with the school year--yay!.

Feeling slightly better, but still yucky.

My workouts last week:
GS chest+45 min treadmill
GS back+4DS HIS
L&G
45 min treadmill
IMAX 3 1-5+GS sh,tri
GS bi+45 min treadmill

Morris--I'm glad you are back safely.

Maggie:)

okay--I have more time now :)

Autumn--I got the book. I sent you an e mail. E mail me with what I owe you for postage and the envelope and with your address again. It tore when I opened the package and I want to get it right.

Jen--I usually gain much more than this in the first trimester, but we'll see when all is said and done. I don't think I know anyone who gains like I do when pregnant. I'm embarrassed to say. Let's just say I would be thrilled with the 40 lbs that most women dread.
and I'm ashamed to say, but what is a BFP?

Melanie--I hope you stick around as well. God's timing is perfect and we can trust that He sees the bigger picture in all things. It sounds like your plate is totally full right now and maybe taking a break from all the chart and temp stuff will relieve a bit of stress. You still have lots of time. (((hugs)))

Anne--that's great that your husband's surgery is finally scheduled. Sorry about the fight. Does one of you want adoption and the other not want it? I'm nosey--you don't have to say.

Kristan--hope all the Lent/Mardi Gras stuff goes well.

Lisa--Congrats on the better eating. I'm struggling a lot more this weak. I'm so dang hungry all the time and the cravings aren't particularly healthy.

Morris--sounds like you survived Florida alright. I hope it's not too much of a shock to leave all that nice weather and come home to the cold and the dreary. Grey, wet, and cold is what we have here in Oregon and I am so ready for spring.

Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Maggie:)

Hi everyone. We did have our party; about 70 people showed up despite 9 inches of fresh snow on the ground. It was a lot of fun! My red beans and rice were well received. We got so many nice hostess gifts (many bottles of vodka; our friends know us well) but of course I couldn't drink.

I only got in a few workouts last week:
4DS kickbox/legs
drill max upper body and 30 minutes at gym (cut short by page from nursery staff- Gus puked in nursery)
body max 2 cardio only
ice skating with kids

It was 70 degrees today (yes, it snowed just last Thursday; life in the midwest) so i ran outside. I was s-l-o-w!

Our u/s (20 weeks) is next Tuesday. Tomorrow is quite a day: I have to work, but also have to vote, entertain a visiting relative, bring 24 mardi gras cupcakes to school, and go to the dermatologist to assess a weird spot on my shoulder (keep your eyes crossed it's benign or easily curable).

Morris- I bet the warm weather felt great. keep up the running for both of us; I think I may be stopping my runs soon.

Jen- congrats on your postive test. That sounds like quite a return home. I guess it's funny in retrospect, but may have been pretty aggravating at the time.

hi to everyone else- I need to get my work done tonight so I can run around tomorrow.

<<It was 70 degrees today (yes, it snowed just last Thursday; life in the midwest) so i ran outside. I was s-l-o-w!>>

Yes, life in the midwest. It was mid-to upper 70's here today. It was funny to see my kids in shorts today when Friday they were wearing snow boots.

Hi everyone! I'm tired so this is it for me tonight.

TTYL!
Autumn

Morris - I should ovulate in about a week or so. Let me know how the CTX workouts are.

Kristan - I'll be praying your skin spot is nothing serious.

Maggie - Wow, that's quite a workout schedule for someone who's pg and has that many children. I have no excuses!! BFP is big, fat positive as in a positive pg test.

Autumn - That is quite a change in weather! Do you know how to use the fertility monitor sticks as opks? I heard there was a way.

I'm pretty tired. I got my fertility monitor and sticks in the mail today. I'm excited to try it out. I have to wait until next month though. Maybe if I'm lucky I won't have to use it at all, but we'll see. I'm trying not to think too much. I did GS CT yesterday and relaxing today. I did eat pretty well and played basketball with the family, that was fun. Planning on Kick Max tomorrow since it's been awhile since I pulled that one out. Hope everyone is doing well.

Lisa

hi everyone

maggie, i will 2nd what others said - awsome workouts! how do you do it with so many kids?

kristan, glad the party went so well. what crazy weather you are having! i stopped running with ds at 21 weeks as it was really uncomfortable. the difference this time i think is i am running inside. the pavement is just too hard on me i think, inside, while i am slow, i can still do some distance. we will see how it goes.

jen, congrats again. i saw your post about exercising, and i think you totally have to do what is comfortable. sometimes people think it is too risky or are too anxious - if you feel that way, just take it easy. i kept up regular intensity with both weights and cardio and had no issue. i am just so happy for you!

hi melanie, hi sutumn, hi anne - hope you all are well.

i woke up this am and did not feel like doing anything. i stared running and just kept going and ended up feeling really great. later, during ds's nap, i will try to squeeze in som e weights. last week i did bm2 double upper body and it got me good - i think i will try that again today.

<<Autumn - That is quite a change in weather! Do you know how to use the fertility monitor sticks as opks? I heard there was a way.>>

Yes, our weather is extreme. The monitor is designed to predict ovulation nad not for NFP, so just follow the booklet instructions. The NFP method I teach has added this as another sign of fertility. So, the method borrowed the technology. Does that make sense? I haven't had any caffeine yet.

Kristan--glad your party went so well and I can't wait to hear about your ultra-sound.

Autumn--I'm going to check my e mail now. I am reading the book. I can't believe that this information about our bodies and how they work is not more widely available--it's fascinating and so useful.

Jen--okay--BFP means big fat positive (thanks Lisa)--so congratulations to you! That is so exciting.

Lisa and Morris--I don't think my workouts are all that impressive. I should clarify that mostly I hike on the treadmill with a few intervals of slow-jogging or shuffling, rather. My cardio capacity has really declined quickly. As far as the kids, the three older watch the three younger for me and since they are very responsible, it works out quite well. We just take a break of about an hour in the middle of the afternoon--we all need it by then.

I think my oldest child might have strep throat, so he's going to see the doc this afternoon. How fun if they all get it--whee! But it's better than vomiting and diarreah--anything is better than that.

take care all--
Maggie
12 weeks today

Morris-Thanks for exercise advice. I will continue to exercise and listen to my body. I didn't make an appt to see the OB yet, but when I go, I will ask what he thinks. I plan to do 4 Day Split Legs tomorrow morning before work. So far this week, I walked for 50 minutes yesterday, and I cleaned for 30 min today. Not too much, but at least it's something.
I don't have any cravings yet, I just get a little queasy in the morning. Are you craving anything?
By the way, great workouts!

Maggie-So you finally found out what a BFP is. It took me a while to learn what they all mean (alphabet soup). And, I thought teaching was bad with alphabet soup! I don't have any cravings yet. What are yours?

Kristan-Wow! Some party! It's supposed to be 60 here in PA tomorrow. It was supposed to be 56 today, but it was more like 40s and rainy. I have recess duty tomorrow, so pray for sun! My sister is a dermatologist, so let me know how that appt. turns out for you.
Hi Melanie, Hi Autumn, Hi Anne, Hi Lisa!

Have a good one!
-Jen

Hi guys! Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I got caught up reading the vaccination post so now I have very little time to post. I've been doing good with the eating so far this week and the workouts so I hope it continues. I'll be back tomorrow with more personals!

Lisa

lisa glad your week is going well. why are you out this month if you have not ovulated yet?

we have a big storm coming in tonight, so i am hoping we can easily get where we need to tomorrow. dh is headed out of town for 2 weeks. i did amy's hi/lox this morning and some of her asc2 - it was fun. i hope to get back to running tomorrow. i am really sore from butts and guts though!

hope evryone is well.

Morris - Sorry, I should have clarified. I can't use the fertility monitor this month because you have to start it on the day you get AF so I won't be able to use the fertility monitor this month. I have about a week before ovulation so I'm hoping I may not even need the monitor, but we'll see! I love B&G! I did Kick Max yesterday and played basketball with ds. I hope the storm isn't too bad and you're safe.

Not much for me here except trying to work out a weekly dinner menu. Gotta go spray the dog with water because she won't stop barking. Be back.

Lisa

lisa, can you do a weekly dinner menu for me and my family too? pretty please?:) we got 8 inches of the fluffy stuff and it is beautiful. i did slip and slide to work, but we are safe and sound. thank good ness for treadmills - got my run in very early this am. i am hoping you guys catch the egg in a few more days!

question for maggie and kristan - are you guys still lifting the same and doing abs? if so, how long do you plan to continue? i am still doing the same sorts of workouts (gym styles, pyramids, 4ds, etc) and have no discomfort. i had thought to just keep going until i have a different indication. just wondering what your experiences are.

also, a question for all of you with more than 1 child - was your subsequent baby (ies) larger, smaller, or the same as your first. my first was a tiny thing. i already feel bigger this time even though my weight gain is the same so far from last time. also, i started out this pregnancy lighter. just wondering if i should expect a bigger baby or the same.

thanks!

Morris - My second baby was more than a pound heavier than my first and I gained the same amount of weight with both pgs. I was bigger in the front with my second pg also. I carried on my back with my first pg so I hardly showed at all, but with my second my belly was out there.

I actually went to the gym to work out today and it felt great. I did the stairmasters for 30 minutes and then the bike for another 30 minutes. My eating has been down the drain today. I'm feeling stressed and just not so great emotionally so my eating has been reflecting it. Anyone have suggestions on how not to be such an emotional eater?

Lisa

Morris- my kids were all 9 pounds even. I gained about the same with each. I worked out with weights like normal until the end (although with leg stuff, I did make some changes). As for abs, I know I don't do as much as I should. I do move to the ball once it becomes uncomfortable. Thanks for your running observation. It is MUCH easier on the treadmill; I realized that with my outdoor run this week.

Today I am going to to CTX Circuit with BM2 interval/circuit section. That'll be right at an hour.

My biopsy came back on the spot on my shoulder. As the dermo and I suspected, it's a superficial basal skin cancer, which is the most curable of the skin cancers. It's usually removed and that's it. I'm making an appt with a surgeon to remove it; usually just an office procedure. I've had 2 pregnant friends wind up with skin cancer- one with a melanoma and the other with a basal. The dermo says that in his experience, he does see a lot of pregnant women with skin cancer popping up. In case anyone is wondering what my spot looks like, it's a scaly patch about the diameter of a pencil eraser. I noticed it right after Christmas and the tip off that it wasn't eczema or psoriasis is that it had a tiny scab in the middle that kept coming back. However, remember that skin cancer takes a lot of appearances so check your skin and moles regularly.

My ultrasound is Tuesday. I'll gladly take the skin cancer if it means a healthy ultrasound!

kristan, i am glad your result is the basal cancer. that is awfuly scary though. i will send some prayers your way. i annot wait to hear about your us! glad you are able to do the treadmill. i also find a day to day variation in what is comfortable. monday i did 10 miles easily - today 7 was a struggle. i will be happy if i can keep doing a few for a few more weeks. i need to pull out bm2 again. i will start the ctx next week. any favorites in that series? are you having any cravings lately?

hi lisa - sorry the eating has been rough. i do the same thing if it is any consolation. sometimes i am more immune than others, but hormones, sleep deprivation, and anxiety all set me off. sometimes doing a quick charge workout helps me break the cycle - like abs or a quick walk or floor work. the mindless stuff really gets me though. i ahve done pretty well this week but dh just left for a 2 week trip, and that can be a bit rough for the first few days.

i am starting the ctx weight workouts next week. does anyone have a recommendation to do each body part once or twice each week with that series? when i do the gym styles, everything gets done once. with the pyramids, i usually add in another full body workout once a week. any input?

Just a quick note to say "hi". We just got back from Rochester (Mayo Clinic) this evening after a full 3 day trip and about 25hrs on the road. DH's eye seems real sore, now we wait for healing,...then onto step 2.

I really really feel so much better now that I'm NOT TTC. I feel like I can enjoy my family much more. It was really adding alot of stress (more than I realized). Don't get me wrong, I'm not ruling out anything,...and I felt a little tugging on my heart when one of my pharmacy technicians announced her pg today in an e-mail (even though I am estatically happy for her).

I'll stop by later to catch up on all the posts. I scanned quickly, how's Jen doing??? I think I missed her post,...

Kristan-I saw your post about your skin spot. My mom had the same thing (my sis diagnosed it and took care of it). I am so fair skinned that I check often, and if I see anything funky, I go right to my sister! That scary, but good that it is curable!

I am doing fine...just really tired right now. I made an appt with the OB for March 3rd. I woke up this morning, around 4, feeling really faint. That never happened during my 1st pregnancy, so it was scary. I thought about the last time I had eaten, and it was yesterday at 5, so maybe that's why. I woke up my DH, and he got me a Nutrigrain bar and some juice and I was fine, but it took about 45 minutes to feel normal again. Other than really bad gas and constipation (I am sorry, that's gross;) ), I was fine the rest of the day. Have any of you ever felt faint?

I was supposed to walk with my neighbor, but she couldn't go. So, I didn't go because my DH was all ready to go to the grocery store when I got home from work. I plan to do TJ tomorrow and some upper body workout (one of the 4Day Splits).

Take care!
-Jen
