Hi Ladies!! Thought I'd start the post since no one has yet. I don't have much time to post right now, but wanted to get us started. I hope everyone is doing great and I'll be back on later to do personals. I have to finish sewing a coat for ds' President's Day pararde because he is one of the Presidents. Hope everyone had a great week and a good one to come. I did 4 workouts last week and still working on the eating.

Hello! Newbie here!
I just found out late last night that I am pregnant with my THIRD.
This was mostly unplanned and I'm in quite a bit of shock.

I don't have much time at the moment but just wanted to say hello and wondered if I could join your check-in.

Thanks!

hi lisa, and thanks for starting us off. i think you are due to ovulate soon?

hi kate - congrats and welcome!! an unplanned pregnancy can be a roller coaster, i am sure. how old are your other 2 children? are you feeling okay?

hi jen - hope this week finds you less light headed. i thought of you as i was on the treadmill this morning and had a moment of equilibrium loss. it passed quickly and then did not return, thankfully. any nausea?

hi anne - i was wondering where you were with things. hope all is well.

hi kristan, how is the running? are you ready for tomorrow? any thoughts on what you are having?

hi maggie - hope you are starting to feel better.

we had a bit of a rough weekend in the weather department here - constant snow and ice. when ds and i do not get out, we both get grumpy! today is frigid but sunny, so i will take the dog snowshoeing before i pick ds up after work. i started ctx yesterday and did back, chest and shoulders. today i will do bis and tris hoepfully, if i have the energy (i did a long run early this morning). i like the variety, but part of me wishes i had preordered sts as the moves in ctx were quite familiar. i will give it 2 weeks and see what i think, though. i have leaner legs on the books for tuesday - i hear that one is a killer!

hope everyone is well!

Hi everyone. I got in 4 pretty good workouts last week. I really liked the CTX power circuits with the BM2 circuit section- that was one tough hour (10 leg circuits). I also did StepFit yesterday. That cracked me up, but it also winded me! Especially the power lunges

Morris- thanks for your input on Benton HI LO X. I think I'm going to buy it. As for running, I am sticking to the treadmill from here on out. It's much easier on my hips. I've also got leaner legs on my schedule.

Jen- I also get occasionally light headed in early pregnancy.

Maggie- I totally crave bean burritos.

Lisa- i admire a woman that can sew. I try, but I'm not much more than a beginner.

chefkate- welcome. Based on your name, wondering if you cook?

Thanks for everyone's experience with basal skin cancer. I just want this thing OFF! I always knew skin cancer was my destiny. I have spent A LOT of time outside (run, swim, garden, lifeguard, etc). I've worn sunscreen since I was a teenager, but even with sunscreen I occasionally used to burn, especially around my suit straps, which is where this lesion is located. And sunscreen wasn't very good back in the 1980's; it wasn't waterproof and was hard to find higher than SPF 15. My doctor's opinion was that this is the result of sun damage prior to age 20 and that the best thing I can do is continue my use of sunscreen, use it on my kids (which i do) and be especially diligent with skin exams. So there I go.

I shall post tomorrow after the ultrasound. I really just want a healthy baby. No preference on gender and no gut feeling.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Morris - Frigid but sunny here too. Sounds like you're keeping up on your workouts. How far along are you?

Kritan - Sorry to hear about your skin dilemma! Can they take it off while you're preg? Let us know about your u/sound - how exciting! You're doing great workouts too. I hope I'll be able to.

808 - I wish I could sew too! If something needs minor repairs I have a very handy MIL! 4 workouts is great - good for you!

Well, I'm going to do DM cardio/leg blast tonight. DH is worried doing Cathes is too much, but I feel totally normal.

I'm off for a dr. appt. to "confirm" the pregnancy.
PS - My girls are almost 6 and 3.75. We can't wait to tell them!!! They are going to be so excited!

Hi everyone--I'm feeling much better in the last couple of days and able to go longer between meals, so hopefully the pounds will creep on more slowly. I did gain faster the last couple of weeks because my cravings were higher calorie.

My workouts last week:
BM 2 cardio premix (the 62 min one--can't remember the name)
Heavy chest and tricep work
90 min treadmill--walking and watching season 4 of "24"
off--felt too nasty
Walking Strong--Tracy's new one
Lowmax homemade circuit with leg, back, shoulder and bicep work

I'm burning out on my current 3 day split and I think I'm going to do circuits, cardio and total body for the next 4 weeks and then go back to 4DS.

I made an appointment with a new ob as my old one is no longer delivering babies. I hope I like him, but I really don't care that much.

Lisa--yes, I will probably find out the gender. I got rid of a lot of my baby stuff last time round and I need to replenish. Which president is your son?

Kate--big congratulations and glad you'd like to join us--welcome:7. All the kids are excited about the new baby (the ones that understand anyway)

Morris--Leaner Legs AKA Meaner Legs is a killer, but personally I think Butts and Gutts takes the cake.

Kristan--I had horrible burns as a child and teen, so even though I've been good about sunscreen the last 15 years, I know I need to be checked by a dermotologist every so often. I can't wait to hear what your baby is!

A big hello to everyone else!

Maggie
12 weeks and 6 days

Wow! Am I ever "pregnantzilla"}( }( }( !!! And, especially so when I couldn't go anywhere yesterday either. It seems that after lunch, my mood goes downhill fast because I am SO tired. It doesn't help that I teach 1st grade math at that time, and today was one of those days where no one seemed to be listening. I recognized this right away and immediately put them into smaller groups. I was losing patience when I had kids right in front of me and they couldn't follow such a simple direction such as show me "8" cubes. Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! My assistant knows I am pregnant (I felt I had to tell her because I was dizzy lastweek and may have needed her help). She would just look at me and smile.

I had a minute spot of tan on the toilet paper early Sat morning, after I went to the bathroom. I have been terrified ever since. My temps are still up, and I haven't noticed anything else. I am just so scared after what happened so early with my last pregnancy (or chemical pregnancy, as the dr. thought it was).
I didn't exercise yesterday because I was so scared. I did Kickbox from 4-Day Split on Sat. night. I plan to do legs from Kickbox tonight.

Lisa-My mom used to sew all of our Halloween costumes, and they were awesome! I wish I had that gene in my. I can't even iron (well, maybe I don't want to;-) ).

Morris-I haven't had as bad of a dizzy spell as Friday morning, but I have had very minor instances, and they were exactly as you had described yours on the treadmill (just a very brief loss of balance).I have not been nauseous, and I don't have any cravings as of yet, well maybe some cake;-) . Did anyone see this month's Better Homes and Gardens magazine (the cake part)??? I never eat cake, but these look great.

Kristan-I can't wait to hear about your US.

Chef (I can't remember your name, sorry)-Congrats and welcome. I was the "oops" child for my parents (the 3rd one). Everything worked out fine! I have no idea why they told me that.

Hi Melanie! Hi Autumn! Hi Anne! Hi Maggie!

-Jen

hi everyone - i am so glad today is over! i am totally wiped out. i was almost in tears i was so tired. i think the thing that did me in was taking the dog snow shoeing - i had to for her, but i was too wiped out.

kate, i am 21 weeks with ds#2.

jen, so glad you are feeling better with the dizziness; i definately empathize with pregnantzilla. i had a moment like that at work. i spotted 4 times early in this pregnancy over the course of 1 month. it was so scary, but things ended up good (so far!)

kristan, you will be very happy with hilox. i highly recommend hi lo dome too, if you are already ordering}(

lisa, that is so cool that you can make your kids costumes.

i am going to crawl into my bed and put my feet up and try to block out all my frustrations from the day. no snow shoeing tomorrow, that is for sure, just a long run (hopefully) and an attempt at leaner legs. bbl

Maggie - I gave away most of my baby stuff too. I hope they give it back now that I need it again! Your workouts look great! Everyone here is doing so well! Good luck w/ the new ob. I see a NP and fortunately I love her. She gave me a great big hug y'day when I went in for my preg test. Even her nurse hugged me!

Jaypea - I always get spotting after sex, so now begins our looooooong no-sex time. Bummer! I hope everything is okay for you.

Morris - Snowshoeing sounds so peaceful and wonderful!

Someone asked if I cook. Yes, I do. I could spend all day long in the kitchen. I would love to own a restaurant but we already run a business and I'll just have to settle for cooking for my family/friends. Less stress this way anyway, huh? DH is a plumbing contractor so that keeps both of us pretty busy. However....we will be hiring someone to take my place. It's too hard to have a home-based business and a baby. Tried it with Gina and just about PPD-d out the window!! In fact, I get really bad (!) PMS so I told DH that he wouldn't have that to deal w/ for a while. But he said my PPD is worse!!:) It was bad too w/ DD2 but didn't last quite as long.

I'm going to tell my mom today that we're preg. She's gonna be so excited!!

Hope you all have a happy, healthy, spot-free(!) day!

kate, i find my hormones with pregnancy, esp that first trimester, way worse than pms. yuck! hope you have fun spreading the news. snowshoeing can be peaceful, but yesterday i just found it cold and tiring. today i am so much better - got up early and had a great long run. i hope to fit in leaner legs later.

question for all of you that have potty trained boys. i am very against rushing things for potty training, esp with boys. but, everyone seems to get mini potty chairs early so kids can "get used to them". do you guys think that helps? what kind do you recommend for boys? thanks!

Hi Kate and welcome! Congratulations on your pg!!!

Hey everyone! I have to catch up on the posts. You guys were sure busy in just one day!! I'm due to ovulate today so let's see. I'll be back with personals tonight. It's been a super busy week.

Lisa

Morris - I've got 2 girls who were very easy to potty-train - good luck w/ DS!

Lisa - Good luck w/ the ovulation!!

I just had a 30 min. nap and I feel awesome now. DDs are still sleeping - yay!

Morris-I am in the same boat with my DS (will be 3 next month). We have a mini potty chair upstairs and an Elmo potty seat downstairs. He is absolutely not interested, so now I am relying on the ol' behaviorist approach (bribing him with Swedish fish candies). I bought training pants today, and we already went through 3 pairs:-( . Will my son ever get out of diapers? I'll be looking for advice too!
-Jen

Hi. Re potty training- our son is 2 years, 3 months. He totally digs the potty and will go on it, but we're a long way away from underpants, etc. I'm letting him lead the way; I need to match his enthusiasm and maybe I could get this moving along. I think a big part of it is that they are very scheduled at day care with the potty. All the kids sit on the potty after every diaper change.

Morris- I forgot to mention I've always wanted to snow shoe. Sadly, Missouri really never has a decent accumulation of snow- usually under 6 inches. It just never seems deep enough to snow shoe.

Kate- I cook a lot too and love to entertain. I have the highest regard for women that run an efficient home (cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc.).

This morning I had the basal cell removed. It took about 1 hour; it was more or less outpatient surgery. My shoulder/chest hurt from the incision so I guess I'll be taking it easy with the weights. I was going to do leaner legs tomorrow; looks like I may switch to B+G floor work instead so I don't have to hoist a barbell over my head.

Then I had the ultrasound this afternoon. The baby's measurements and anatomy looked good; that was great to hear. Baby was moving all over the place, but slowed down long enough for the tech to get a peek at the heart, kidneys, etc. Baby appears to be a girl; I kind of had that feeling. You may recall my boy Gus was to be a girl and that tech was pretty sure on that too, but I never believed it. Doesn't matter to us either way; I am prepared for either gender. But, Gus seems like the kind of boy destined to grow up with three sisters so i can see it actually being a girl.

take care everyone.

Kristan - Yay for a great u/s! I'm glad your surgery went well also.

Morris/Jen - My ds took a long time to potty train with #2. #1 was a breeze, but #2 was a struggle. I don't think the potty chair helped ds, but dd used it a lot. A lot of high fives and praises got my dd going. Ds is a whole different story. Nothing worked it seemed like until he finally decided to just let go of his diaper dependency.

Better get going. Have to feed the kids dinner. I'll be back with more personals.

Lisa

kristan, ia m glad you got the spot off and hope you heal quickly. ocngrats on the girl and the healthy us! is gus short for anything? snow shoeing can be wonderful. i think part of it was i went for a super long run that morning and had no reserve yet. gone are the days when i can force myself to do something. well, almost;-)

lisa, how are thigns going for you? hope you o soon and get some quality time with dh....

thanks everyone for the input on the potty training. i think i will just go with my instinct and wait awhile. i may get a little potty for ds around his 2nd b-day. todays workout was imax 3 and part of step blast. i did end up doing leaner legs yesterday, and that was TOUGH. made blast number 5 especially hard today (plie jumps). i may do some upper body work later. i was supposed to go to work and a hair appointment, but we are under snwo and ice - my day will be home! bbl

Morris-My DS will be almost 3, and NO interest in the potty!!!! I don't have school again due to the icy weather, so I had him in training pants all morning. I checked him every 30 minutes, and had him sit on the potty. I just so happened to be right by him when he peed his pants, and I saw that he felt his underpants (so, I guess he is aware of that feeling?). You have plenty of time, I am starting to think my DS will be 16 and in diapers:) . Good luck!

Kristan, I am glad to hear that your spot was removed. Since you mentioned it, I have been checking myself like crazy. It's so easy to ignore something like that if it's not a strange looking mole. My mom's was just like yours (red, scaly, kept coming back). I mean it kept coming back until she got it removed. I have very fair skin, and the strongest sunscreen I had when I was young was 15 also. I used to think I could get tan, so there were a few times I actually put baby oil on and sat in the sun. Those were also the times I got very bad sunburns. It's very scary, isn't it? So, another girl? Gus will be so spoiled by all the girls.

I did 4-Split bi/tri this morning, and I pulled my DS around the snow in his sled yesterday. It probably wasn't as hard as snowshoeing, but I was tired when we returned home.

I don't have any cravings yet. Maybe I won't get any?

Talk to you soon!
-Jen

Potty Training

Hi ladies. Just wanted to add my 2cents on potty training. It might sound like a "lazy" approach,...but we've just let our kids potty train themselves. They have to beg us to use the toliet! Our middle son was 3 when he learned. He was so ready, he learned within 3 days. I even tried to put a pull-up on him at bedtime and he said, "NO!". He's NEVER had an accident. Our youngest is 2 and shows alot of interest, but he's my baby,...so he's not ALLOWED to be potty trained!!!!! He can keep his NUK as long as he wants too. ;)

Nice to hear everyone is doing well. Welcome Kate! Congrats on your pg!!!

RE: Potty Training

Melanie, two thumbs up on your approach. That is what we did and it was painless and effortless. DS learend in ~1/2 day.

Maggie, I received your generous check. Thank you!

Hi everyone!

RE: Potty Training

I agree with Melanie and Autumn re: potty training. Unless you have a deadline like preschool or something, it's not worth the stress of making them potty train because they will go when they're ready to. I learned the hard wayx( .
