TTC/Preggers Check-In March 23

Cathlete
Happy Easter for those who celebrate! Figure I'd start the thread for the week.

Jen/Kate - I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has that "problem." My dr. said its the pg hormones and the iron in the prenatals are like a double whammy. Kate, which prenatal vitamins are you taking that helped?

Morris - Is your growing belly making it harder to run? I did part of GS BSB last night. I wasn't feeling super hot so I did what I could muster. I don't give my kids a multivitamin so I'm of no help there.

Sorry for the short post, but I gotta get some things done for work while I'm feeling decent. I would also like to squeeze in a workout while the nausea is away. So far so good today, but the afternoons is what I have to get through. Threw up yesterday morning and that was unusual since normally the mornings are better for me. I did manage to do 4DS LIS the other day.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Lisa

HI all!

Ditto on the Happy Easter! DH works on weekends, so it was a quiet Easter for me. Just church in the morning and I shampooed carpets all day! :)

Not sure who's having trouble with Prenatals, but I've got one that's been great for the past 2 years for me. It's by prescription and it's called 'Prenate Elite' Tablets. I never get sick from them.

Lisa - Glad the nausea has gone away somewhat for you! Nice job on the workouts!

I need to get in a leg workout today. Did some low max the other day and GS Arms. Waiting for the nice weather to come back so I can get some more walks in.

I've started to get heartburn lately, so need to watch what and when I eat. Also starting to get thick around the stomach and some pants aren't fitting, but I think I'm eating like crap, so that's my problem, b/c I'm only about 7 weeks along, so shouldn't be that big at all!

Well, excited for my next u/s on Thursday to see the heartbeat and hopefully a bigger bean in there.

Hope everyone is well!

Happy Easter to you as well. We went to mass and then to meals at my husband's mom/dad and my mom's house. I ate a lot of good food; totally worth it.

Anne, I am queen of heartburn. I only get it when pregnant and I get it bad- reflux in the middle of the night and I cannot swim without refluxing. Very weird. I just started Nexium and it is a lifesaver. All the tums and zantac in the world are useless to me.

Morris, I more or less quit running. I ran 2 miles the other day and every stride was unpleasant.

Here was my week:
m- gym, part of On the Ball Pilates
t- nothing
w- Low instensity Step circuit from 4DS
th- run 2miles, leg machines at gym
f- nothing
sat- 1+ mile swim, standing legs from B+G
sun- eat

I was happy to learn my pool is meters instead of yards, meaning my "miles" were actually a little longer than a mile. I am swimming pretty decent and even did some butterfly.

I am 25+ weeks. take care!

Morris, Sounds like you had a nice day planned for today. You asked about kids multis - I give my girls a multiple by Mannatech. Mannatech.com if you're interested. They also take Mannabears, which is dehydrated fruits and veggies in a gummi bear. They are so good we have to make ourselves STOP eating them!

Lisa, My vitamin isn't an actual prenatal but my dr said its better than one. Again, its Mannatech brand, and its called Phytomatrix. Sorry you got sick this AM.

Anne, I hope the US this week goes well for you - keeping my fingers and toes crossed! Sorry about hte heartburn - mercifully that is something I have never had.

Kristan, Sounds like you had a day of feasting! I bet everyone was excited to see your belly!

Everybody is doing great workouts - except for me!!! I feel like such a lame-o! Pre-preg I was a workout-machine now I can't even muster LIS! Change is coming, though. I'm feeling better and better - looking forward to the next few weeks. I'm 10 weeks as of y'day - 2nd tri is coming fast!

We had church this AM then the rest of the day was travelling. We drove almost 2 hours to visit DH's grandpa who is dying. Glad we went but after the funeral y'day (1.5 hrs to get there, 1 hour funeral, drive home) DDs are very ready to get moving! Me too! I feel like we have SAT all weekend! The weather was a "balmy" 40 this weekend - hopefully it will at least stay that way during the week - if not get a little warmer - please!

Have a great evening and week ahead!

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Easter!

I will take a peek to see how everyone is but doubt I will be posting in the Fitmom forums much. I didn't want to disappear without saying good-bye.

Keep in touch Melanie!

Take care everyone!

Okay--I'm super tired this week and my husband is convinced my iron is low, so he went out and bought me iron pills. Now I'm afraid I'm taking too much (the pills plus the prenatals), so I plan to google that to see as soon as I am finished here.

We had a nice, but very lazy easter. It just came too early this year and no one was feeling well, so we weren't prepared. Our bible study leader and his wife (like parents/grandparents in the Lord) took us out to eat after church and then we came home and I worked out and napped. The house is a pig sty and I care a little bit but not much.

I have my big ultrasound tomorrow, so I'll let you all know how that goes. I am always a bit fearful of "bad" news, although God always seems to give me the grace when it is needed. I was very calm during my whole experience with down syndrome and pregnancy and I know if there is somthing "wrong" this time, I'll be okay, but it's the waiting that's hard. My thoughts can go wild.

My workouts this week:
2 40 min sessions on stationary bike--I'm working on increasing my mileage
unplanned rest day--sick
4DSchest/back/legs
Imax 3+Lowmax step only premixes
4DSshoulders/biceps/triceps
75 minutes stationary bike

Morris--I like Slow and Heavy, but not while pregnant, because even on an incline, I feel like I'm on my back too much. I really like the Gym Styles and 4DS. I like Pure Strength too, but I only have it on VHS, and I don't have a video player in our workout area plus the music doesn't thrill me. What I really like is doing really heavy weight work in the garage with my husband...

Jen--I should probably drink more water, but we were talking about ultrasound water. I'm only going to drink 16 oz tomorrow, not a full quart. I'm feeling rebellious}( . I hope you are feeling better soon.

Kate--Wow, 10 weeks--time is flying. Is your constipation due to irritable bowel? I suffer from that when not pregnant, but it seems to be better during pregnancy--don't know why..

Lisa--glad to hear you are having periods of feeling better. How far along are you now?

Anne--it sounds like you are starting to get some symptoms. I'll keep praying for you. The waiting is so hard, for the ultrasound, I mean. I have my big one tomorrow and since I already have one child with down syndrome, I'm always a little anxious...the waiting is hard for me.

Kristan--I'm amazed that you ran this far into your pregnancy. My lower back is bugging me, so I've lowered my step height to 4" and am hardly jumping at all. I feel so lazy, but my heart rate is through the roof as though I'm really working hard. My old ob said this was because of increased blood volume. Do you have your own pool or do you go somewhere to swim?

Autumn--I'll miss you, but I'm sure I'll "see" you in other parts of Cathe land. Take care.

Hi Melanie--any updates on the house?

take care everyone--
Maggie:)

Maggie- no pool of our own. In winter we go to the YMCA. I swim laps while the older girls take swim lessons. My husband thinks I look like a huge dork with my swim cap and goggles. He was surprised to learn that I wear the cap NOT because I think I'll swim faster, but because it protects my hair color job. I don't spend that much on my hair to have it stripped by chlorine.

Speaking of pregnancy nuances, I keep getting crazy nosebleeds. I know they're normal, but it's so bizarre. I've never had a nosebleed in my life and never during another pregnancy. But, this is the first pregnancy where It's been winter. Most of the time I hit the second trimester in the spring/summer. So I guess it makes sense. I have started cramming aquaphor up my nose to keep it moist. Aquaphor cures everything in our house.

Autumn - Thanks for dropping by and giving us a heads up. I hope everything is going well with you.

Anne - Sounds like the pg symptoms are catching up with you. Can't wait to hear news after your u/s on Thursday! You should be able to see the hb this time.

Maggie - My thoughts and prayers are with you for your u/s tomorrow. I can't imagine how nerve wracking it must be for you due to past experiences. Keep us updated! I'm going to be 8 weeks tomorrow according to my dr's EDD.

Kristan - LOL about the swim cap! My DH gets a lot of nosebleeds and I know it happens a lot due to weather dryness and change in climate.

Kate - I'm in the same boat as you regarding the workouts. I was working out 4-5x/week prior to getting pg and now I'm struggling to get 3 workouts a week. Hopefully the 2nd trimester will be different for us both.

Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm trying to stay busy to keep my mind off my nausea. I had to throw up right before we were going to eat dinner and now I just feel really yucky. I was hoping to workout, but I don't think that will happen. I'll probably work out first thing tomorrow morning.

Lisa

good morning everyone! sounds like everyone had a nice easter. ds was very excited to see "bunny RABBITs" as he yells is. we only have one volume in our household.

lisa, i am so sorry you are puking now too. i hope things right quickly for you. when do you have an us?

anne, i am excited for thursday for you. keep us posted. sorry about the heartburn - that is no fun!!

kristan, awsome swims! i am still running - yesterday and today - but i find i go 30-45min then stop for a minute, then start back up. my back and belly do not hurt, but my feet do, probably the extra weight. i am going to keep trying for a while. friday i did 1-2 miles before every weight cycle of boot camp. ended up with 9 total miles, and it really helped to break it up.

maggie, i will look forward to your post today and hope you are feeling okay with everything.

hi jen - are you feeling any better?

kate, your workouts will resume when you feel better. right now, you just have to get thru the awfulness. hope today is a good day for you.

hi autumn! we miss you.

well, i got up early for the 2nd morning in a row and it felt great. i even got a pretty long run in. maybe my lack of energy was more to do with the sinus infection. my dad is coming tomorrow for 24 hoours, literally. i am looking forward to gettting some info about there he sees things going with my mom. so far they are not in counseling, and they are not moving back in together. yesterday it made me very sad, today i am a bit more angry. on a different note, i think i will be getting amy's new kb workout this week and am excited to try it. bbl

Maggie, Church, lunch out, workout, nap?! Sounds like a perfect day!

Ah, jeez! I thought I was going to have time to respond to everybody, but alas, DDs need me! A mothers job is never done, for sure!

bbl...

Maggie, How about the US? Let us know.... we're here!

Kristan, Funny on the swim cap! Sorry about the nosebleeds! I've never heard of that - yikes! Bet that's unpleasant! DH used to get them all the time. He started taking Vit K and Rutin and it helped them to go away. Taking garlic can increase them, as it thins the blood. We love Aquaphor too!

Lisa, Hope you're feeling better today. A couple more weeks and it will lift a little. then away completely - at least I'm hopin'!!

Morris, LOL on house volume! I hope it goes well with your dad - good luck and (((hugs))) to you!

Okay, I think I'm caught up now. Hope you all are doing well.
I'm discovering that when I have a low-fat breakfast I tend to worse in the day. Days like today when I have cereal and fruit I just cannot shake the nausea until I start eating some fat. So I went to the diner where DH was a having a breakfast meeting and ordered a huge pancake and sausage - good bye nausea! Pizza for lunch, nausea stayed away. Keep the carbs a'comin! I hate this. DH loves it. He says "Now you're eating real food! No more twigs and rabbit food!" :7

Morris - I hope your visit with your dad goes well.

Kate - I notice if I keep eating throughout the day I feel much better. I've been eating lots of fruits, cereal, and yogurt every couple of hours then for dinner, I need to eat early and I need some major protein like steak to keep from feeling nauseaus. Today is a good day for me, but 4:00pm will be the true test. We need to do whatever to feel normal at this point I guess! Oh and french fries seem to do the trick also.

Maggie - Anxiously waiting to hear an update from you.

Lisa

Maggie, Maggie, Where are you?!?!

Lisa, french fries are always an answer!! Hope you stay feeling good. Watermelon has been WONDERFUL for me lately. Need to go buy some more tomorrow. For some reason, cantaloupe, which I normally love, tastes so WIERD.

I had more carbs. Yuck. I'm so sick of them. Hoping for a good day for all tomorrow.

Maggie, please let us know!!!!

Okay--I have a chance to post now:)

And it's a ........Girl, so the balance is now in favor of female hormones. (hmmmmm.....is that a good thing?...testosterone just seems so much more straight forward.) Everything looks good, but she would not cooperate, so I have to have another ultrasound in 4 weeks so that they can get a better shot of her heart. I feel greatly relieved. I brought our dds 11 and 9 along and they were very excited as they had been rooting for another little sister.

The ultrasound puts me back about a week--18 weeks instead of 19.

I was rebellious with my ultrasound water. I drank 20 oz and when I got to the office I was in so much pain that I peed a bit. I mean what are they going to do, fire me? It was fine, my bladder was plenty full...

thanks for all your prayers and words of encouragement!

Kristan--individual pregnancy symptoms can be soooo wierd. One of mine is "hot" feet. I've mentioned that one before, but it is truly unbearable at times.

Lisa--poor thing--your nausea just sounds so awful. The only pregnancy where I puked a lot was #3. Sometimes I would just get a whiff of something or just a thought of something that grossed me out and it would all come up. Usually I just feel nauseaus without the barfing.

Morris--I hope things go well with your dad. I don't blame you for being sad or angry. I'd probably be angry too. Let us know how it goes. 1-2 miles between every cycle of bootcamp? Woman, that is an imposing workout for a non pregnant woman--you are a workout wonder!

Kate--I totally cannot eat a high carb and/or sugary breakfast. It makes me feel more sick and shakey and hungry. This tends to be true even when I'm not pregnant, but even more so now. Lately the best breakfast has been zucchinni and mushroom sauted in olive oil cooking spray and then scrambled with one egg plus 3 egg whites. I have two pieces of very healthy whole grain toast with a little butter and an orange. It's about 500 calories, but it holds me over without feeling too sick for 3-4 hours.

Hi everyone else!

Maggie

Yay Maggie for a great u/s and another girl!! At least you'll be able to get another u/s and another chance to see the baby so maybe it's not too bad that she wasn't cooperating.

Kate - Watermelon sounds wonderful. Any types of melon help me feel better.

I'm going to get a short workout in tonight to keep my mind off the nausea. I can't wait for the second trimester.

Lisa

oh maggie, i am so happy for you! so glad the us went well and you can move on. sorry you are 1 week behind where you thought you were. my dream is to wake up tomorrow and find i have just 4 weeks left!!

hope everyone is feeling better today. i feel so uncomfortably full after eating very little, it is gross.

my dad is due to arrive any minute. thank you for all the well wishes. i feel like all i have done is cry in the last 36 hours. hope to keep it together today. on a good note, yesterdya and today i had good runs, so i am happy with that. also did c and t today and that felt good. is it okay to use a ball instead of just an incline do you think?

well, it is a beautiful day. hoping everyone has a good one.

Maggie, That was nice you brought DDs along with you for the US. We were thinking about bringing DDs too. We'll see. The week delay stinks! Sorry about that! Your b'fasts sound great!

Lisa, I hope you got your WO in!

Morris, I like your dream! Sorry about the fulness - yuck. I hope it goes well w/ your dad. Come vent to us if you need to! I think the ball for incline would be fine.

I'm feeling pretty great today. Not pre-preg energy but def. feeling good.
I hired a secretaty this AM. She's too good to be true. Hopefully it works out well in the long-run. I'm aiming to be mostly done at the beginning of June so I enjoy the summer w/ DDs.

Have a great (nauseous-free) day!

Morris - I'll be thinking of you today and hoping things go well with your father.

Kate - Sounds like you're finally getting over your m/s hump. You give me hope and light at the end of the tunnel! How many weeks are you?

Off to take a walk before heading to work. BBL.

Lisa

Lisa, 10 weeks, 3 days. You'll get there soon! Hope you have a good walk. We thought we got spring but winter came back and it is so cold and windy here today. No recess for the kids at school. Hope work goes good for you.

"The baby" and I just had a nap. Oddly enough, I sometimes feel worse AFTER a nap. Not too bad today though.
