Hey guys! Hope everyone is enjoying their 3-day weekend. Things are finally sort of slowing down at home. What a relief. I just got through doing IMAX3. It was rather difficult today because it's so hot here, but got through it anyway. Worked out 5x last week and I've been really good with the eating so far. I started a food journal again and that has really helped. I'm on my 2ww, about another 9 days until I will know.

Kate - How was the rodeo? I can't work out in the am either. I prefer afternoons, but sometimes don't get to my workout until after the kids are asleep.

Jen - How are you feeling?

Morris - Yay, for a little break. Are you and DH going to have a post-Valentine's outing since he wasn't home during Valentine's?

Hi everyone else!

Better get going. We're supposed to go out to dinner tonight.

Lisa

okay, i know i said i'd get up early, but i didn'tx( today was really my last day to sleep in for a while, so i did. guess i will be busy at nap time:) yesterday i was able to run 9 miles and do some light leg work (legs 1 and 2 from amy's apx). i felt so good after. hopefully i can do another long run today and some abs.

lisa, awsome job with the workouts and eating. i have imax 3 on tap for tues or weds i hope.any fun plans with the kids today? are they off school? also, do you workout in the airconditioning? dh is in hawaii now (heading back here by thurs), and i forgot to ask him how warm it is.

kate, i usually can only exercise in am - i run way further and faster, except when pregnant! i do hate getting interrupted, but i feel like i cannot take time out for myself during ds's awake time yet. maybe in a few years....

jen, hope all is well.

kristan, do you get today off?

maggie, hope you are feeling well too!

i better get some more coffee while i can. bbl

Morris- your runs look great. I am impressed; by now you could run from Iowa (isn't that where you live) to see me in Missouri. I used to work out in the morning, but I haven't been able to since my 2nd kid was born. It seems like the minute my foot hits the floor someone hears me and needs something.

Lisa- how did the coat turn out?

Jen- I'm with you on the numerous checks for skin cancer. We are all on the lookout for weird moles, but it seems the other skin cancers pop up frequently as well. Just know this: the thing on my shoulder was weird looking and I almost knew right away i needed to see the doctor. I'm sure you'll know right away too if something is off (and don't you have the sister who is a dermo?).

My workouts were good. Only 4.5 times, but I had a stressful and busy week:

Cathe low impact circuit (I never can remember the name; the new green DVD)
gym + Timesaver #5, leg stuff
5 mile run on treadmill
Keli Roberts Step it Strong heavy weights/core (*love this)
Cathe Step Max (I was tired; only used 6 inch step; still quite a video)

have a good week.

O.K, I have had the scariest day, but with a happy ending! Last night, I noticed more brown spotting, and again this morning. I called the dr., because even though it could be normal, I didn't like it. The dr. sent me for an US (internal and external) and for bloodwork. Happily, I saw the baby's heartbeat!!! They said not to worry about the bloodwork since we saw the heartbeat, but we will get the results tomorrow.

My dr. asked me if I was lifting anything heavy yesterday, and I had carried my son part way back on our long walk. He said to take it easy with lifting anything heavy because that could have caused the spotting. I know I should exercise to stay healthy, but it's freaking me out. Maybe I will give it a rest for a few days.

Your workouts sound great!

-Jen

jen , so glad everything turned out okay. i had lots of spotting with this pregnancy, none with ds 1. my exercise patterns were the same. not sure what the difference was, but they called it leftover implantation bleeding. very very scary, but so glad you saw a heartbeat. how far along are you now?

kristan, my mornings are definately my time, though you wouldn't know it the last 3 days. yesterday's run felt great. today, my tummy was too full, i think, and while i finished all my miles, i nfeel kind of sick now. yuck!

Lisa, Another evening exerciser! Sometimes I feel like the only one! I don't mind *too much* doing my cardio at night but I really try to plan my lifting to be in the daytime so I can eat lots of protien afterwards. The rodeo was great fun, thanks for asking! Hope you have a nice dinner out tonight!

We were GOING TO go out to eat but I am so sick. I haven't been sick AT ALL in years! This is very humbling for me. I woke up feeling like a train hit me - raw throat, plugged nose, head/neck ache. And now I've got DOMS setting in from MM yesterday and I don't remember having DOMS like this in a long time! Brother! So DH is probably bringing home a pizza for himself and DDs. I'll have a bowl of wheat chex and some fruit. Earlier today I thought I was feeling okay so I did about 3/4 of Imax2. Dumb. It took what little strength I had.

Morris, Glad you got to sleep in! I'll get to on Saturday. DH & I are going away for the first time ever since we had our first baby! We are so excited!

Jen, Sorry about the spotting. When I was preg (both times) before we couldn't have sex the whole time because every time we did I would bleed afterwards. Haven't had sex yet this pregnancy...too scared. Glad you got to see the heartbeat! I can't wait to see our US!!! Don't worry about the exercise. (Easier said than done, I know). You've got plenty of time for that. Maybe just some nice walks....?

Kristan - Good job getting your workouts in! I hope I can keep them up too...once I kick this blasted cold.

Jen, that's cool we're due so close together! Have you been feeling well? I take it this pregnancy is going fast for you? I just wanna start wearing maternity clothes!!! I'm sure in another 7 months I'll be singing a different song, but I love being pregnant and it is such a surprise that we are again. We thoguht we were done but I am so happy to be having this baby.

I've been sleeping all evening and I'm feeling a lot better. But I'm still gonna milk it so DH has to wait on me some more!:)

I'm working at my DDs preschool tomorrow AM so I have to get feeling better!! Wish me luck!!

Lisa - Nice job on the workouts and eating! Good luck in the 2WW, I know how grooling that can be!

Jen - So glad that the spotting turned out to be nothing. That's always scary. Are you feeling o.k. otherwise now?

Hi Morris! How are the workouts going?

Nothing much new on my end. DH has his shoulder surgery next Thursday, so can't wait for that. He's been in so much pain with it, that he's not able to sleep at nights, so it will be good to get it done, so he has some relief.

Still thinking about the opportunity to become a manager at my friends place of work. Having some issues with co-workers at my job now. No one knows how to be accountable for their own work/actions these days, drives me nuts! x(

Well, looks like I should have O'd today, so I'll be in the 2WW with you Lisa! Just taking it month by month.

Hi to all that I missed!

Hello Anne! So sorry for all of your fertility issues.
We struggled for a little while some time ago - I hope you get your "prize"!:)

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking, but haven't posted in a while.

I saw the doctor today (I like him--he's very laid back, nice, and handsome)and unexpectedly he gave me an abdominal ultrasound. He just wanted to see where the baby's size lined up with the EDD--its about the same as I thought, around August 19. He will induce me a little early if I want, which I may since I home school and I really want to start the day after Labor Day. I'll go again in 5 weeks for my big ultrasound. I'm a little nervous, but I know 2 things. I'd prefer to have another healthy baby, but disabilities are not the end of the world.

I still feel pretty crappy and it is wearing thin. I am usually better by now. My weight gain has really picked up, which is demoralizing, but dang, I'm so hungry--it's primal.

My workouts last week
Boot Camp--everything but core premix, modified.
40 min treadmill walk+40 min stationary bike
High Step Challenge, skipped core work
40 min stationary bike
4DS LIS/HIS double cardio premix

Kate--I love cooking too--prepared a Valentine's feast (children included) of Julia Child's seafood crepes, home made french bread, caesar salad, JC's stuffed mushrooms and her chocolate mousse for dessert. Wonder why I'm gaining weight:9 ?

Jen--the spotting is scary and I don't blame you for wanting to take it easy. I'm a better safe than sorry person. As far as potty training, my kids have been all over the map. 2yo dd potty trained herself (the pay off is that she thinks she's entitled to be naked at home pretty much all the time--"no want panties!" and our son with Downs didn't potty train until he was almost 6. He still wears a diaper at night. The other four were somewhere in between. I'm pretty relaxed about it now. They all get it sooner or later and think about it, when your kid is an adult, no one is going to care whether he potty trained at 18 months or 4 years. Hang in there!

Melanie--Autumn sent me TCOYF and I sent her postage, rounding up for her trouble. It wasn't that generous, but bless her for thinking so. I'm thrilled with the book and fascinated by all the information I never learned.

Morris--your workouts continue to amaze me. You must be in phenomenal shape. What do you do when you aren't pregnant? I'm just totally impressed. My cardio is already affected. I get soooo winded now and I'm only 14 weeks.

Lisa--congrats on the weight loss and I hope your husband's deposit bears fruit--keep us posted.

Kristan--congrats on the healthy ultrasound! That is a huge relief and another girl (supposedly;) ) How sweet. I couldn't run 5 miles to save my life right now. Impressive.

Hi Anne! Hi Autumn!

take care all,
Maggie
13 weeks, 6 days

Maggie, Glad you like your doc. Handsome never hurts! One of the OBs in my office for DD2 was so young and so cute - a bit wierd to have him look up my va-jay! *Don't worry about the WO's! You'll get feeling better. And if you don't - hey, you've got a great excuse! **Nice your kids help you cook and PROPS to you for home-schooling. We thought about it but DD1 is doing great in public Kinderg. **I'm with you on the running. I could step all day but do NOT make me run!
PS - My 3-yo. is CONSTANTLY in her undies all day too! Funny! I love her little naked body - and she is a PEANUT!

need to go to bed - and I wonder why I'm sick.

I forgot to mention-

Kate- my first daughter DOb is October 18. Great date.
Jen- I spotted with ALL of my pregnancies- especially #3.
Maggie- glad you like the dr., is he new?

Speaking of which, I've decided I'm switching ob's. I have no confidence in my dr's office staff. I find them unprofessional and poorly organized. The dr. herself is ok, but I feel she is limited by the fact she is a solo practice. I am thinking of switching to the very qualified husband of a dear friend. Any thoughts? I think I'd be treated well, but perhaps ob/gyn is topic best NOT shared between friends. I do like the fact he'd be willing to let me VBAC after 2 c/s (I had one child by VBAC, which I guess makes me a candidate).

I am getting very behind at work and with chores. Everything around me is broken and needs to be fixed: my windshield wipers got mangled and won't work, our newly tuckpointed wall is leaking, my washer won't agitate, my ob was a no show for today's appt, my second daughter probably has an ear infection and one of our cats keeps pooping around the house. Tuckpointers, appliance repair people, pediatricians, vets, etc. are taking up a huge chunk of my work day.

Good news- the pathology report from the basal cell has clear margins, meaning the dr. won't have to remove any more of it.

I'll repost this too- we'll be on HGTV on Feb 26 on a show called National Open House. Details to follow later this week.

Take care. FYI- I am 20+ weeks, just behind Morris (in due date only; I could never keep up with her running)

Whew, let me see if I can remember everything!

Hi Anne! It's always so good to see you! Sounds like the manager job might be a good possibility. I totally know the "not taking responsibility" issue at work and funny thing is, it's always the men! Good luck with the 2ww! I so hope this is your year!

Kate - I think you asked me awhile back about my kids and I totally forgot to respond. Sorry! My ds is 8 going to be 9 this year (yikes! how time flies) and my dd is 5 going to be 6 next month already. I am so longing for another little one in the house again! I hope you get to feeling better. Where are you and DH going to?

Jen - Sorry about the spotting scare, but yay for a heartbeat!

Maggie - Are you sick all day long or just certain times of the day? I hope it goes away soon for you. Sounds like you had a great workout week none the less.

Kristan - Yay on the test results for your skin! Ooooh, please remind us of your HGTV episode! I love HGTV! Do we get to see your house? Sorry you're having all these issues! When it rains, it pours I guess. And as far as the new doc qx, I myself wouldn't feel comfortable about having them know so much about me in that way, if that makes sense. I know as a dr. he wouldn't be able to "share" with his wife, but you never know. And as far as the coat, I did not finish in time. I was so pooped with late nights at work that ds had to just go in a shirt and tie which the teacher said was more than enough, but I was really hoping I finished the coat. Oh well, he can use it for another occasion I guess.

Morris - I hope you start to feel a little more energy soon. It's warm here in Hawaii and I don't workout in a/c unless it's sweltering. I notice my heartrate is a lot higher in the heat which gives me a higher calorie burn.

Okay, I think I got everyone. So my eating was good today again and writing in the journal really helps me see what I put in my mouth. We went out to a Thai restaurant last night so I did splurge a little, but today was back to eating clean. No workout tonight, but tomorrow I'll be doing some strength training and 30 min of cardio, probably running.

Lisa

good morning everyone - this is what happens when i don't check back in during the day:)

well, i am at work today and i did get myself out of bed - yeahh!

kristan, so glad the margins are clear - that is wonderful!!! as far as switching docs, i say go for it. my doc is a bit of a friend as well, and it still works well. when did you have c-sections and when did you have a vbac?

lisa, awsome job with the food. i used to live in florida, and while i exercised early, it was outside. i am not sure i could handle the humidity now. give me 40 degrees any day:)

magiie, i am sorry you still feel crummy. that is so debilitating. also, i got on the scale today after a few days off and was not happy, but, what can you do? got to keep the energy up, esp with all your kids. great job keeping up with the workouts.

kate, i am sorry you are sick. i think it takes longer tog et over stuff when pregant. i am very worried about the flu stuff all over the news. hope you feel better today.

jen, any more spotting hope you are feeling well.

anne, so good to hear from you. poor dh has lots of surgeries scheduled. hope he gets some relief. my fingers are crossed for your 2ww.

well, i did imax 3 and 4ds low intensity step only this morning. definately got me. i may need to try imax 2 next week. i was thrilled to finish my workout by 6:30am, though. now, it is work and hair appointment today. bbl

Kristan, Yuck. Sorry you don't like your OB. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful office. What a rotten day for you too! As hard as DH tried yesterday my poor house is falling apart and its not going to look any better by the end of the day today.

Lisa, Enjoy your rest day - glad the journaling is helping.

Morris, Great WO's! Hope work goes good today!

I'm feeling a little better today, thank goodness! My 3-yo. is sick now though! Bummer. We're curled up in bed together!

I ordered some maternity dresses online at Gap last night. I can't wait to wear them!!!
I was showing DDs what the baby looks like right now and Isabel (3) said "It looks like a dinosaur!" Too funny!

Hope you all have a great day!

Kristan--I should clarify--He's not young and handsome, but probably late 40's early 50's handsome and he didn't have to look in my nether regions yesterday, but boy am I not really looking forward to that, but then I never do, no matter who it is:p. I ordered maternity clothes yesterday, too--from Motherhood Maternity and Old Navy. I'll have to check out Gap today. Tax refund time, you know.

Kristan--yes, I have a new ob. My old one is no longer delivering babies and I waited so long to make an appt that my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choices were not available, so I get this guy. I like him. I think going with your friend's husband will be okay. Probably the topic of gynocology will stay in his office where it belongs. Compartmentalize, compartmentalize, compartmentalize. I can't go to doctors with incompetent office staff. It's just as irksome as having a doc I don't like. We don't have a tv or I'd watch the show featuring your home.

Lisa--I feel pretty crappy most of the day, but especially at night. Mornings I feel pretty good.

Morris--You reminded me--go make a hair appt. It's been too long and must be done.

take care all--

Maggie:)

Hi Girls,
Thanks for your kind words about my scare. I have had a little more spotting today, but I am not as worried as I had been before yesterday. My friend at work, who also miscarried this year, is due about 2 weeks before me, and she is showing so much! I can still hide it for a while (I hope). Kristan, I have been questioning my OB practice as well. Yesterday, they were very unorganized, and it took them a while to "find my name" on a list they had somewhere. In the meantime, I just stood there defending the fact that I was there without an "official" appointment. I had my first baby via emerg. c-section, and he was stuck in my pelvis. My OB told me that I definitely would need another c-s after that one because of the risks of rupturing my uterus with a v-back. There are two schools of thought on this...one-doctors are overly scared of malpractice suits, so they take the easy way out and do a c-section ( I can't imagine that being the easy route) or 2: A V-Bac really does pose a risk of uterine rupture, which can be deadly for the mom. What do you all think? Kristan, I know you said you have a v-bac. It really makes me ? what I was told. On the one hand, I never, ever want to go through pushing and pushing only to find my baby is stuck in my pelvis again, but on the other hand, I don't want another c-section either. Are there any other ways for a baby to come out (just kidding). ;)

Anne, nice to hear from you! I will keep my fingers crossed.
Lisa-My fingers are crossed for you too.
Maggie-welcome back! Thanks for the advice on potty training. I will wait on it.
Hi Morris! Hi Autumn! Hi Melanie! Hi Kate! I hope I remembered everyone!
I am off to do Turbo Jam. I have to do something or I will go crazy!

Take care!
-Jen

Jen- my opinion on VBAC is that I had a lot of problems with the c/section (bleeding/clotting issues), and for me, a c/s can be as dangerous as a VBAC. That said, the risk of rupture is real (both before and during labor). My first c/s was a fetal distress; I never made it past 5 cm; my second child was a vbac; my third was a planned c/s, overdue, failed to go into labor (Most doctors will not induce you if you've had a c/s.)

If you are in doubt, get a second opinion, preferably from a dr. affiliated with a large teaching hospital.

Jen, Hope you can get things sorted out. Fortunately I've never had to have a C. ((hugs)) You don't want to show??? I can't WAIT to have my belly pooch out! I hope it happens soon!

My dilemma is that its 4AM and I can't sleep! My nose is stuffed up, I can't breathe and I'm so hot I'm about to go roll naked in the snow! I have been awake for long stretches all night long.

Another wierd thing: Tell me if this is pregnancy or just being sick the last couple days:
I AM STARVING!! But any food sounds disgusting! Even my absolute favorite food I have to CHOKE down. I'm eating because I know Baby needs nutrition but YUCK! I haven't vomited but I can't stand feeling like this.
And here I thought I was feeling so well with this preg. Guess it's a bit early to make that prediction!

Gonna go try to sleep - yeah, right!x( :+
