Hi everyone--regular school is over (have given ds 13 summer school assignments) and everyone is upstairs peacefully eating breakfast, so I am determined to catch up.
Yesterday, I attacked the girls'room, which was a literal pig sty, but oh joy, after I pooped out, they continued working on it. So different from prior years where I had to sort of guide them every step of the way.
I also did tons of reading aloud (which I love and, by the way, I think is an extremely important part of education--hearing the written word spoken) and it felt luxurious. Our son with downs is developing a longer attention span and I'm really happy about that.
I did SH Ch/B with 30's and 25's--modified the back a bit to do one arm rows to support my lower back more. I had to take some extra rest between sets. I'm a little sore today, but I love DOMS because it feels like I actually accomplished something.
I will attempt 30 minutes of Basic Step today. I've never done that one, because it's just too easy, but maybe my back can handle the slower pace and I can get some cardio in.
Kate--Don't worry about that weight gain. I doubt you are eating 1250 extra calories a day above what your active self is burning. I think that water retention can really do a number on us whilst pregnant. You are doing great
. Oh and the tree fell down due to rot way inside. From the outside, the tree looked absolutely beautiful.
Trish--cravings are funny, yes? I'm craving altoid peppermints and am eating waaaay to many of them. Dh and Ds 13 are always teasing me about being an addict--dipping into my little box. It's a 3rd trimester thing. Could you freeze your sour cherries and make that cobbler for when dh comes home? Or you could make the cobbler and freeze it. I do tons of frozen food.
Melanie--Enjoy your five days off with your kiddos. It sounds like you really deserve it. And you've got me beat for length of marriage. We've been married 15 years on June 14.
Stephanie--(((hugs))) from one worrier to another. I tend to obsess over fetal movement too and this little one shows no discernable pattern. She'll move a lot for a few days and then I'll hardly feel her at all for a week or so. How exciting that you write children's books. I spend way too much money on books. Just keep trying to get them published.
Candra--I went to U of O in Eugene for a couple of years, but I like Portland better. I did not know about listeria for my first 3 pregnancies and then my SIL let me know and I've been kind of freaky about it since. I did cave into extreme morning sickness cravings and eat stuff I shouldn't have anyway and then worried about it. My OB told me that in the last ten years of his practice, which includes about ten obs maybe more, they've delivered 1000's of babies and have had only one case of death due to listeria and that involved an imported cheese. That eased my mind a bit, but I still avoid those foods. Just my nature. I'm sure everything is fine with your wee one.
Mikkia--sorry about the morning sickness. I'm glad you were able to keep soup down. I look forward to you feeling better really soon. I think morning sickness is the worst part of pregnancy.
Lisa--pregnant brain--I definitely have it. I have to use the back button a lot as I read the posts, because I'll forget everything too. Kudos to all of you who do personals without the back button or an extra tab open:7
Susan--(((hugs)))I'm glad it looks like you won't have to have a D&C. I think that would be really hard on top of everything else. Keep us posted.
Alicia--I hate being bloated. I feel especially gassy during the 3rd trimester when everything is all squished up inside. You'll get your energy back soon. The first trimester can really drain you. take care.
Anne--It's good to hear from you. It's definitely cool here in Oregon, but not dry. My garden needs more sun. You are in my prayers.
Kristan--I think I should take extra iron. Actually I should just remember to take my stupid prenatal vitamin. That would probably help. I think you are far enough along that you deserve to take it easy. If you don't mind my asking, what type of attorney are you?
Jen--You're free! You're free! Nice feeling isn't it. My 9yo dd said after her state test on Monday, "Release the Prisoners!" Hope the wart removal heals up nice and quickly.
Hi Morris! Look forward to hearing from you!
I really hope my pregnant brain didn't miss anyone--not intentional.
Now off to tackle the house and enjoying a more relaxed schedule.
