TTC Check-In

Cathlete
Hi ladies! I wanted to start the post this week. :) I have to say, now that I'm not officially pg...it's HARD to eat right and lay off the Mt Dew. I dyed my hair red this week....kind of as a gift to myself...felt I needed a little one after last week! I also drank a full Liter of Mt Dew in one day!!! Okay, now I'm going to be good. :D :D

Sun: TJ Cardio Party 1
Mon: LowMax
Tue: off--had MOPS class
Wed: IMax 3 (I modified b/c of my 'condition'---I'll re-do this week with more vigor!!!)
Thurs: TJ Cardio Party Re-Mix + 3T
Fri: TJ Cardio Core
Sat: Mindy's Interval Express

I did lose a couple of lbs---I'd like to loose about 3lbs...which will only come from clean eating---must stay focused!!!

I have about 6 cans of Mt Dew in my car, when they're gone my goal is to stay off until I get get back in control.

How's everyone else doing? Anyone monitoring mucosal changes or temps?

I'm thinking that a summer baby would be nice. How about May? ;)

Thanks for starting the thread Melanie!

Okay, to start off, I did not have the greatest workout week last week. I usually workout 5-6 days, but I was so exhausted last week because of work.

Sun: Step Blast
Mon: Off
Tues: Push/Pull + Yoga
Wed: Rhythmic Step (I forgot how fun this one is)
Thur: Off - Fell asleep
Fri: Off - Fell asleep
Sat: Drill Max

I'm like you Melanie - I just need to eat clean to lose those 3-5 lbs. I had ice cream cake last night too from Cold Stone Creamery. Eugh...that ice cream is killing me.

Melanie - You deserved to have that mt. dew last week due to all that emotional upset. I think I'm going to try temping next month because my cycles seem to be whacky. I had watery CM (cervical mucouse) on Friday and then I think yesterday I had EWCM (egg white cerival mucous), but not sure. I am on a every other day try to conceive schedule for the week just in case so I don't miss catching the egg, if you know what I mean.

Because I was so bad last week, this shall be my schedule this week:

Sun - Butts & Gutts
Mon - P90X Shoulders & Arms
Tue - Off
Wed - IMAX2
Thur - Not sure, but will work out
Fri - Not sure
Sat - Body Max 2

I'm looking into buying some DVDs from collage, but not sure which ones yet. I'm thinking of the CIA videos or Jari Love's videos. How do you like Turbo Jam Melanie?

Lisa

Hi Lisa. This forum is dead, isn't it? Everyone must be busy.

To answer your ?s. I LOVE Turbo Jams. They're soooooooo fun. I also like Janis Saffel, Mindy Mylrea, and Tae Bo. I haven't really found anyone else I like. ;) I am very picky. Oh, and of course...I adore Cathe!!!!!

How about a challenge for the week? Since we're focusing on clean eating...how about 5 a day fruits/veggies? Are you up to it? It's super hard to do, but will be awesome for our little-ones-to-be if we happen to conceive. ;)

BTW, what's with the mucous thing. When it's thick you're ripe? OR when it's thinned out? It's been so long since I've looked into anything like this. I'm just curious. I'm still nursing Jadon 5 times a day...so that oxytocin/prolactin levels are probably inhibiting ovulation...

Thanks for the ACRONYM translation. If you see me using MD that's Mountain Dew. ;)

Melanie,

Yes, let's do the challenge. 5 a day is good. Today I'm having a banana at breakfast, a veggie wrap for lunch, not sure for dinner.

The mucous thing - watery means soon to be fertile, egg white is fertile. I'm still having a hard time determing what is what. Sticky is hostile to sperm. Are you planning on cutting down on nursing or see how it goes?

How's the MD addiction going?

Where is everyone? Come back and post!

Lisa

hi guys

things have been crazy busy here, so i am a bit late. better late than never, though, i hope. and i am up for the five a day challenge. fruits and veggies are not my problem as much as too much of everything. i would love to lose 5 lbs, though, so i will try any challenges. i need to watch my portions better.

i am nursing finn full time and don't detect any mucous. this will be a loing process i think:) good luck lisa. i will keep your info filed away in my little brain.

i have been really good about working out - i usually do that regardless. maybe i wouldn't eat so much if i cut back, but it feels so good. i may try a turbo jam as my only cardio outside running is cathe, whom i love, but i need a little variety. also considering amy bento's kbx

sun- cardio fusion mix and match
mon'- run 8 mil
tues- run 9 mil, upper body from bm
weds - kpc, butts and gutts all over legs premix
thurs - 8 mil run
fri - 2 mil run, b and g abs, plb stability ball
sat - imax 3, 2 mile walk

how is the md habit, melanie? my weakness other than portions is protein bars. i eat them like candy. but, i cut them cold turkey last week - 9 days sand counting. unfortunately, i have not lost a lb yet!

Not a good MD day. :( I did have a veggie salad for lunch, an apple for snack, I will have a V8 later as well as some broccoli. :) This will make up for my MDssssssssss. ;)

Hi Morris and Melanie,

So yesterday I ate a banana for breakfast, veggie wrap w/ whole wheat tortilla for lunch, and had a salad and shrimp stir-fry for dinner. I even skipped on ice cream yesterday! Anyway, there's been a few changes to my workout this week.

Sunday - 30 min brisk walk; B&G stability ball abs, backs & biceps
Monday - LIC
Tuesday - not sure if I'm working out today due to time constraints
Wednesday - IMAX2
Thursday - not sure yet
Friday - Pilates then 20 min of Yoga
Saturday - BM2

Any suggestions for my Thursday workout?

Morris - I'm quite inspired by your workout regime with having a little one around! You give me hope that I can still keep it up, baby or not.

Melanie - I say that everyday is a new day and looks like you're on the right track with your menu!

Better get going.

Lisa

i need food help! you tweo will have to inspire me. i started off well enough then got major major carb cravings. gave in to a tahini chip cookie from wild oats (soooo good), and the girl scout cookies we have lying around. it seemed like such a good idea before.... i did have 5 today - 3 fruit and 2 veggie.

tomorrow i will get back on the bandwagon:)

lisa, do you have drill max? step blast? maybe those would be fun for thursday. i am a cardio junkie:)

gotta run

I had to order pizza for my kids today since my parents are watching them because they are on spring break and I know my mom will make me take home the leftovers. I need to resist!

morris - at least you got your five in. I'm still working on mine. I think I got 2 more to go. I used to be cardio queen, but lately I've been trying to up the weight/strength training. I did Drill Max on Saturday so maybe I'll do step blast and/or a leg workout.

Lisa

Hi ladies! May I join the check-in? :) Technically, we are TTC but I am trying to keep it relaxed considering my history of subfertility & obsessive behavior. Yes, I turn TTC into a science project. ;-) So, I say DH and I are no longer trying to avoid pregnancy.

Melanie, I am in the process of giving up Diet Pepsi/Pepsi. ;( Some days are tougher than others.

Regarding cervical mucus...
But of course I am monitoring mucus. :D I teach a mucus only NFP system and don't know if I could not observe. Do ya know what I mean?

Lisa, I am with Mel on the Turbo Jams! Lots of fun.

My goal is to lose 9#'s. Here is my log from last week:
Sunday - Spinervals, Slim Series Shape it Up
Monday - Slim Series Firm It Up
Tuesday - Spinervals
Wednesday - Don't remember
Thursday - Cardio & Weights
Friday - Flexibility
Saturday - Off

Uh oh, it is 1:05 am. DS will be up bright and early so I better get to bed.
C-ya!
Autumn

Hello ladies,

Hi Autumn and welcome to the check-in! So how many children do you have already? We're trying for our third and last. This is my second month off the pills. I had a miscarriage last year so this will be my fourth pregnancy. What is a NFP system?

Yesterday was a not so good day with my eating. I ate my required fruits and veggies, but I caved and ate couple slices of pizza. It was cheese and vegetarian. Other than dinner, I ate pretty healthy and I did fit in time to do B&G Leg Blast Premix. I'm thinking of running on Thursday because I was inspired by Morris' workout! I haven't ran in like months because of time and weather, but it's been nice, not too hot, not rainy so I might just do it!

Melanie - How's everything going?
Morris - What's a tahini chip cookie from wild oats?

Have a great day everyone!

Lisa

Welcome Autumn, so nice to hear from you! Your little gal must be 3 now? They grow up so fast!!!

I"ve been doing 5/day. None today yet...and it's 130 already. I better get chowing! I usually eat more veggies than fruit.

Not doing good on MDs. :(

I will not wean baby Jadon yet. He's 16 mos old & am sure he'll give it up on his own soon enough. I don't believe in rushing one baby along for the next one. ;) If it's in God's plan it will happen. I will take a look at all my wonderful mucous though!!!!

Have a great day!

Hi Lisa!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have two children, so like you, this will be our 3rd and (probably) last. I am very sorry about your miscarriage!

NFP=Natural Family Planning. This particular NFP prefers to use the term system vs. method. I roll my eyes ever so slightly at this but when in Rome... :D

Isn't it tough getting in those fruits and veggies? And they raised it to 7-13 servings. I struggle with 5. :) I found a way to improve that, but I don't want to promote a product on the forums.

I am so envious of you runners. My knees just can't tolerate it. So, I spin.

I am curious about the tahini chip cookie too.

Autumn

hi autumn and welcome!

i would love to hear from you and lisa (and melanie, though you are far ahead) on the transition from one child to 2. autumn, you sound very knowledgable about ttc. i am a bit of a novice as i don't have anything to base it on - i don't cycle, yet. and no mucous to speak of. sorry - hope that isn't too personal:) i am envious of your spinning. before my little guy was born i would spin once or twice a week. now i don't go to the gym at all. i do miss the group class.

yesterday was justa a carb fest for me. i craved things so bad. today i am craving free and easily eating well. funny how that happens. tomorrow will be different i am sure. i did get my 5 in today. i think i eat too many fruits and veggies - at least dh is always telling me that. my little guy, finn, loves fruits and veggies too, which is really too funny. at 9 months, his favorite is green peas - yuck!

a tahini chip cookie is a wonderful concoction the good people at wild oats supermarkets make so that people trying to eat healthy can have a cookie and think it is okay. it has tahini, oatmeal sugar i am sure, rasins, dates, sunflower seeds, and carob chips. probably lots of other unmentionables, but it is so so good. luckily, i do not know the recipe.

i know melanie's kids ages - what about lisa and autumn? how old are yours?

I have to just let it out...I ate a chocolate low fat yogurt cone after lunch today. So there I let it out. Don't you like how i throw in the words "low fat" and "yogurt" when I know it's still bad, bad, bad. I will start again tomorrow.....I'm only at 1 serving today. However, I need to get to the store asap because our fridge is empty. I usually do good about the fruits/veggies unless it's close to replenishing my groceries, which I badly need to do.

Morris - I have a son, age 7 and a daugher who will be 5 next week. The transition from one to two was not bad. I actually had a easier time with my daughter after giving birth because I knew what to expect, but your hands will definitely be full. I think that's why I waited so long for our third and last. I didn't like having two under the age of 3 at the same time. I know others feel the opposite where they don't want them too far apart, but I guess I'll find out which I like better.

Better get going. Have to do some work from home and then IMAX2! Then take the kids to the park like I promised.

Lisa

Whew, what a day. My boss has been in FL all week and I've been working lots of extra hours. I just squeezed my workout in and thought I'd check in here.

Not a good MtDew day...but tomorrow is another day. My goal: NO MtDew!!!!! Wish me luck ladies. I wish there was a MD patch I could wear or something. I've even been craving cigarettes lately and I haven't smoked since July 15th 1998!!!!

On a positive note, I had all my veggies/fruit. I had a V8, 3cups steamed broc/caulif and a medium apple.

My mucous is sticky today. I"m thinking since my mucous is going through all the stages, I must be beginning to ovulate even though AF hasn't come yet? Maybe Autumn could shed some light? I"m very interested in this mucous stuff---more out of an educational stand point---I love to learn about my body---than a "gotta get pg now" stand. Do you know what I mean? Maybe someone could point me to a good website? I could totally see ourselves using NFP as a method of contraceptive later in life. ;)

As far as spacing kids out. My two youngest sons (1 and 3) are extremely challenging. Do I think another one would be lots harder? No...I'm envisioning it as a challenge plateau. Does this make sense? Also, since these two little boys 'bicker' quite a bit...I'm thinking that chances are the next one will get along really good with at least one of them....to allow for a break in intensity. I better go to bed, I'm getting too philosophical!!!!

Have a great day ladies!

Thanks for the welcome ladies! I have a DD (turning 7 in July) and a DS (turning 3 in July). Apparently, our children are to be 4 years apart and conceived in October/November. ;-) We wanted our kids 2-3 years apart but that didn't happen. I'll add my pic trail link to my sig and you can see my lil' ones.

Morris, nothing is too personal... I am a Women's Health Care NP. :) I have to remind myself that not everyone shares my interests, because I can discuss anything. :D My poor DH. LOL!

I do love spinning. The endorphins are awesome! I have a Spinning bike, so that is how I accomplish it... otherwise there would be no spinning for me.

I wonder if Whole Foods has a cookie similar to the tahini chip cookie?

Melanie, I'll refer you to two sites that teach a mucus-only NFP method. My theory is go to the CM experts to learn about observing CM. :) Other NFP methods, such as Sympto-thermal, teach CM in addition to other signs of fertility. The Billings website (woomb.org) or Family of the Americas (familyplanning.net) may be a good place to start... I don't believe these programs get into religious views which does happen in some NFP programs. The Planned Parenthood site has some basic info too. Feel free to ask my questions here or via PM/email.

I have been so bad... no workout for two days now. :-( Girl scout cookies, corn chips (natural though), Pepsi, the list goes on. H}(
Tomorrow is a new day...

Autumn

Melanie - WOOHOO!! You're o'ing (ovulating)!!!

Autumn - I need to pick your brain about CM. I was on a 34 day cycle last month, the first month off bc pills, and so I figure I would o around CD16/17, but according to my CM I must have o'ed around CD14/15. Sorry if TMI everyone, but I had really watery CM on CD12/13 and then EWCM on CD14/15. So I might end up with a shorter cycle this month? Or is it possible to have a really long luteal phase if I end up going 34 days again? And then after CD15, there was pretty much nothing. I'm confused. I might temp just for these reasons. Anyway, I had an eating fest yesterday also. And I didn't get to my IMAX2 which I will today.

Morris - How's the carb cravings going? I so wanted pasta and white pasta, not the whole wheat one sitting in my pantry with white french bread. Oooh and butter on my bread. Yeah, had to slap myself out of it.

Better get going. Have some work to do from home and then planning to take the kids somewhere, but not sure yet.
