Trying to make a purchase

Cathlete
I have been kicking around what I should buy for sooooo long. I am actually ready but before I do would really appreciate some input. Please note, the only Cathe I own as of now is Cardio & Weights, and I have taped a lot of fit-tv Cathe - which is what I have been doing.

I am an itermediate exerciser. I've been doing lomax off fit-tv and love it - actually owning the full version, somewhat scares me. I am in relatively good shape, do not have weight to loose but rather bodyfat - need to get this checked. My fitness goals include, increasing cario endurance, TONING and strength.

Equipment owned, a club step, various dumbells, stability ball, and tubing - looking to actually get a dynaband. (Note: I use the dumbells at my shoulders when Cathe does leg work with a barbell).

So anyway, after much consideration, I am looking to buy:

LoMax
KPC/Legs & Glutes
Gym Styles - both upper bodies

With these Dvd's, this is the rotation I plan on doing. I hope to do this for a month, and then maybe add some new dvd's (suggestions here would be helpful also)

Sun - Cardio at gym/Gym style chest & tri's
Mon - Low Max
Tues - Gym Style Back & Shoulders
Wed - Off (probably do a core max & or stretch max segment from Fit-Tv)
Thur - KPC or Cardio and Weights
Fri - Legs and Glutes
Sat - Off or a walk if nice out.

Please note, that during the week, I only have 45-60 minutes to work out - I do work out first thing in the morning on weekdays - 5:15am and especially as it is getting colder out, am having trouble doing this. :-( - sorry, little frustration there.

Is using the gym styles for a month to much!!!! I figured if I needed to change, I could substitute the Pyramids from Fit-tv or a full body workout, again from Fit-tv.

All input and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Looks like a very thorough and well thought out rotation.

And no, I don't think using the GS workouts for a month is too long. You should notice some definite changes in your muscle tone and definition in that time. And like you said, if you are getting bored or burning out, you have some other types of weight work to change it up with.

Remember also that most of Cathe's DVD's have premixes that can make the workout longer or shorter than the 'original' workout. For example, GS Legs clocks in at 67 minutes. Like you, I don't have more than 60 minutes to workout before needing to get ready for work. So I do the 49 minute premix on that DVD. Legs and Glutes has similiar premixes.

The only suggestion I have is that over time, consider getting a barbell. Cathe will increase your strength in a hurry and it is easier to lift heavy weight with a barbell than w/ dumbells. Check your local Walmart or see if amazon.com still has their great deal (last time I checked, barbell set for $19.95 plus 4.95 shipping).

Good luck!

I think you should get Low Max, KPC/Legs & Glutes, Kick Max, and Muscle Max and then later when you can do it get all three Gym Styles. I'm recommending those for the following reasons:

Low Max - The best low impact step workout I own. If you're not advanced enough (or if you're not in the mood to workout) you can do the step only premix or do the premixes for intervals 1-4 or intervals 5-8. You can also do the blasts only premix which is a killer and you can add it to any of your other workouts.

KPC/L&G - A must. There are a lot of options with the premixes and the mix and match features. You'll have to workout pretty hard with KPC because it is advanced but you'll get it in time.

Kick Max - It is advanced, but you can skip the blast segment until you're ready and do the low impact premixes. Also the leg conditioning drills at the end can be done by an intermediate exerciser for sure. Those leg drills at the end can also be added to any of your other workouts.

Muscle Max - you can go lighter with the weights until you're ready to step it up to another level. You can choose the exercises you can or want to do with the mix and match option. The premixes are split into upper body only and lower body only so you can do those alone instead of the whole workout. The ab segment is a killer and very advanced but it can be modified. The lower body only premix is only 23 mins long so if you think it's not long enough you can use it with a couple of segments of L&G like the floor segment for example.

Instead of buying only two Gym Styles I would wait until the budget allows and get the set of 3 so you can use them all together in a rotation.

Just my two cents. I hope that helps. Have fun with the workouts you end up buying. :)

Edited to add: I agree with the previous poster. You should get a barbell and several plates as soon as possible.
