Morning Ladies-

Happy Halloween!!

This morning I did The Firm's Define & Sculpt total body weighted workout. Workout was 60" and I burned 367 calories. I used 10-20 pound DB's for this and had a decent workout. It was a lot of compound moves...so it was a lot of leg work! My legs are already toast.

Have a great day everyone.

My hair is too short and too many layers now. I wish I could find someone that understands what I like. I will try this girl again but try to explain that I wear it a little longer. So frustrating............wish I had a stylist like Jen's! I'm envious! I guess it's not the end of the world - cuz it will grow....and at least the damaged stuff is gone, right? (help me out here cuz I'm trying to convince myself!!)

Morning ladies,

Happy Halloween!! Hope everyone eats lots of candy, chips and chocolate today!

Tonight is pilates night - but will try to get out for a walk this afternoon too. My busy season at work has begun - and it may be hard to take a break.

Lora - I know what you mean about finding a good stylist... that knows what you like rather than what she likes!! Like you - I had my hair cut for damaged ends etc from my highlights this summer - and she put too many layers in it.... It looked nice when she styled it - but way to puffy when I did it! So I would just put some product in it - and let it dry naturally - so that it would be wavey... Can't wait for it to grow out... Must admit though - I am glad she did it - bc my hair is a lot healthier for it. So - yes - I think that yours too - will be nice and soft in a few weeks when it grows to a length that you are comfortable with.

Kel - Great workout this morning.. Glad to hear you are enjoying your new purchases :) What does BBC stand for?

Jen - Glad you enjoyed the RS - It's actually one of my favourites... How is your shoulder and knee today?

Christine - Hope you are doing well - and enjoying your yoga.

Well ladies... I have something to tell you all... I have been holding out for the last while - more out of nervousness - than lack of wanting to tell you.
My DH and I are expecting our first child this April. I am 18 weeks along - and happy as can be. We were both very surprised that it happened so soon for us - especially given our ages (me 39 and DH 49)..and we were also quite nervous - and maybe a bit superstitious about announcing before the end of the first trimester.... Well - when I believed that I was at 12weeks - I had an ultrasound - and low and behold.. I am 3 weeks further along than I believed myself to be.... (Actually had one more period - even though I was pregnant).... and so - we had an amnio - and now that we have the preliminary results of the amnio back - that the major things were tested and negative... We made our announcement this past weekend.

In another week or so - the rest of the tests will be in - and we will also have the opportunity to learn the gender if we choose to.

So - the last while I have been taking it easy on the impact - and trying to enjoy yoga and pilates more. I have also been doing the elliptical and treadmill - though in all honesty I don't enjoy the machines as much as I do the step aerobics. I'm a bit fearful of doing step now though. So - long walks, for as long as the weather holds out - and will try to motivate myself for the machines when it is raining or snowing. Unless of course I go walking in the mall ;)

I have been very fortunate not to have morning sickness. I have had some nausea now and then... more when I have waited too long to eat - than anything else... My biggest symptom has been fatigue. I tucker out by 9:00pm now!

I am going to join a prenatal yoga class - and perhaps a prenatal pilates. Otherwise... will just have to buy some more dvds for the third trimester ;)

Hope everyone has a nice day.

BOO!:7 Hey everyone & Happy Halloween! Hope everyone is having a good day so far.

This morning, I did LIS plus shoulders, calves, & core. Another winner, IMO. I'm really enjoying this new series & I'm also experiencing some mild DOMS from each of the workouts so I'm happy about that too. I was hoping to get one more HIS practice session in tonight, before doing the full workout tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure I'll get to it with Halloween & handing out candy & everything.

Guess what?!? My BBC arrived this morning!!! I'm planning to do at least one more full week of this new Cathe series before I try them out so I'm hoping that will be a good "warm up" for BBC.

Lora - I hope you have a great first day at work & I'm looking forward to hearing all about it when you get home later...

Jen - Have you tried any of your BBC yet? Maybe we can try it out together after we arrive at a stopping point in our current routines.

Yve - I wish I could go to yoga & pilates classes like you do. It's nice that they're within walking distance too.

So do any of you do anything special for Halloween? We just hang out at the house & hand out candy but we usually don't get more than a dozen trick-or-treaters. I like to look at the little kiddies in their costumes anyway, though.

Well, I better go for now. Heck, it's almost lunchtime. I'll be sure to peek back in later & see what's going on. Hope everyone has a spoooooky day!:)

ETA:

YVE!!! - Oh my gosh, I am SO excited for you & your DH!!! How wonderful! I don't blame you for taking it easy on impact & step aerobics. This is a special time in your life & it's a time to pay extra attention to your body & how you're feeling. CONGRATULATIONS to you & your DH!:D

ETA again: Oh, I almost forgot... BBC is Barry's Boot Camp.:)

Hi Kel,

Thank you. That is really sweet.

We don't usually do much for Halloween - Like you - just hand out candy - though - this year - we won't be getting any trick or treaters. Our condo has a rule about it. The mgmt keeps the candy downstairs - and the little ones line up and get their candy in the party room....booorrrrring!!! lol..

Yve -I'm so happy for YOU!! CONGRATS!! I doubt your hair was as shabby as mine. I look like a rat. I'm so self conscious about it.

I'm not in a good place right now.............................

I'll TRY (LOL) to be brief here........just sat down. Ended up working 7 hours and I'm scheduled for almost 40 hours this week and almost all evenings, except for Sat 7:00 am. I'm not feeling very good right now. Super emotional ...TTOTM.....migraine, cramps, etc. My semi-bad foot (fracture) is throbbing and swelled from being on my feet all day and my back is killing me. I have no idea how I'm supposed to get used to all of these different shifts. As I thought, I don't think I'll adjust. I'm too much of a regimented person. I just want to cry, go run and hide or escape some how........but that's not an option and I don't feel strong enough to go on right now. If my hair looked half decent, I wouldn't be ready to crack, but that coupled with job situation and this huge adjustment with it being TTOTM is too much. Sorry if this sounds negative............but I needed to vent to someone, as my DH sure doesn't care. I'm not even going to get to do anything I like ....cuz I'm working Sat and Sun and so there won't be any movies any more. That's one of the only enjoyments I have left in life......besides food. All I have to say is that this job sure is different. I work 4:00 - 10:30 pm tomorrow night. This should be interesting since I never stay up that late! Thanks for listening. I wish my hair would grow back over night! and I wish I could find a good stylist! (whoa....guess that wasn't so brief...LOL)

On a positive note, my new Amy's came ....but my foot hurts so bad right now that I'm not sure I'll be able to do impact in the AM.

Hi ladies! Just finished my WO and it was RTTC biceps X 2 plus 100 biceps curls and 200 ab crunches of different variations. I also did IMAX 2 intervals 1 to 4 with blasts and added on just the step combos of 5-8. DH and I had the day off today because in Atlanta, this is the worst traffic day of the year.

Lora-I know what you mean about the hair. I bet you'll like it more once it starts to grow out a little. I really like all the short layered cuts I have seen lately, they are really making a comeback. Almost makes me want to cut my hair short again. It took me forever to find a great stylist, but they really are out there!

Yve-CONGRATS!!!!!!! Wow, you must be so excited! I am glad to hear about the lack of morning sickness-some people really suffer with that something awful! Good going on staying with your workouts! I am so happy for you! :) :) So are you getting a nursery ready in your condo yet?

Kel-Yes, trying out the new Barry's would be great! Have you previewed them at all? What did you think? It looks like we will finish up our current rotations at about the same time. I have a leg day left on week 3 and then my last week will be next week and I am done.

Lora-{{{{HUGS}}}} Sorry the job was so rough today. You do have a lot of adjustments to make. I think you'll adjust eventually, but it will take some time. You will find some positives about your schedule. Working out is one of your joys in life, right? :) And you can still do that on your schedule. I will say working until 10:30 pm is tough...not sure I could do that anymore either...there's no way to sugar coat that one! This job may just help tide you over during the holidays. Will you keep looking for jobs in the medical field while you are working or possibly resume your search after the holidays are over? By that time you may actually love the job you're doing! At least it sounds like they are giving you plenty of hours....that'll help with the other joys of your life...such as BPAL and your workout library!!! :) :)

Lora - Thank you for the congrats.

Shift work is very hard to get used to - and working retail is hard on the body. I did it for many years. I worked as a bank teller while I was going thru university - so - I know only too well how it hurts the back and causes the feet to swell. Are you allowed to wear running shoes to work? Maybe taking a hot bath tonight - and pouring in some of your alchemy oils will help the back - and perhaps keeping your feet elevated if you can - while you sleep.
My only advice is to keep looking for something you would like to do in the medical field - and remember that this job is only temporary. Also glad to hear that the store is in a good neighbourhood. Working late nights in retail are stressful.
I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Yve

Jen - way to go on the 200 crunches - and 100 bicep curls.. That is something! Am curious - why is Halloween the worst traffic day in Atlanta?
Thanks for the congrats. I haven't started getting the nursery ready yet... To be honest - I have been really afraid to get too excited about this. Receiving the phone call about the early amnio results being ok was a huge relief. There is a baby show going on at the convention centre in Toronto next week - so that will be my first outing looking at furniture and baby things. I work out of a home office. When the baby comes, we will convert it to a nursery... so it will be difficult to decorate etc before March when I will go on maternity leave.

I hope that it works out for you and your DH when you begin your fertility treatments also.

Have a nice evening.
Yve
