Trying to Fit Yoga in for Wed July 25

Morning Ladies-

This morning I did my Jillian Book Circuit Backside and modified the cardio portions on the rebounder with my boot on. Workout took me a bit longer cuz I ended up doing about 4 sets of seated leg curls cuz I kept adding resistance to the door attachment. It kept feeling too easy...but watch - I won't be able to walk tomorrow. I added ankle weights and DBs for abs. I added on about 15 minutes or so of one of my new Firm (cardio portions). I tried doing it on the floor with my boot on and my HR only got up to 130. Workout was 1 hour 23" and I burned 500 calories. I also did All Systems Go off of Ravi & Ana's Yoga Quick Fixes.

Wow - that Ravi and Ana segment I chose was pretty tough. We did all kinds of navel work (ab/core work) and held our breath a lot....for a long time. It went on forever and I was thinking "what the heck is this for.........cuz I don't wanna keep doing this!!"......then after we finish - he says that is called -- insert name here -- and it's really good for working thru your deepest fears and something else that I really needed which I can't remember at the moment and I thought THANK GOD!! Anyway.....I think these 2 new Ravi & Ana's will get used a lot cuz they have so many short segments. Love them!

Speaking of DVDS - don't know if I mentioned this yesterday -- but I got this really cool spinning DVD yesterday. I'm going to do it tomorrow, but I previewed it and I'm really excited about it. It's called Cy-Yo. It's got 2 workouts on it that are 1 hour each. Each workout is a spinning workout that starts with 10 minutes of yoga and ends with 10 minutes of yoga. It is done in intervals, hills, etc and the cool part is that it is all done to local Boston bands ....sort of like lighter rock music and each song goes so well with the section and cadence you are working at. It's like 20 bucks ...which I think is a good deal for two workouts...Fire and Ice. www.cy-yo.com
The instructor's a little "off the wall" and intense....but I think it's cool and the class has some "less desirable" shapes in it if you know what I mean ....cuz it's a live spinning class done in a Gold's Gym. Just thought I'd run it by you ladies in case you want something for the Winter. I'm doing one of the workouts tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted. (I know you ladies don't have bikes......but I'm starting the process of enablement!!) is that a word??

BPAL Lunar update is live and the one scent, Etmathides, has my name written all over it....black orchid, black amber, black currant, wood violet, blue musk, rose attar........sounds amazing. I ordered more than 1. The lunar tee is pretty cool this month too.

Hi Lora, Jen, & anyone else who may pop in today!

This morning, I did CC#3 & loved it even more than the first time. This was my second time doing the workout & I kicked it up another notch. I guess you need to do these workouts once or twice in order to know what to expect & what the right settings are for you. My DH came down while I was doing the last sequence of sprints & gave me this look that said "what the heck are you doing?". I definitely didn't see it as a look of approval & I tend to be quite accident prone so I'm sure he was thinking "is this safe?" but I'm comfortable with the settings I chose & I didn't feel "out of control" so it's just one of those things, I guess. I guess he just doesn't understand b/c he doesn't work out & has never done anything more than walking on our treadmill. I just hope I don't hear about it later - LOL.

Lora - I saw you started 2 different threads today. Are you trying to get us some extra attention? LOL. Another great workout, in spite of your injury & the boot! You mentioned that spinning DVD y-day & I looked it up then. It looks really cool & I'm sure it will be a blast to do too! I'm looking forward to hearing your review tomorrow. Gosh, those new Ravi & Ana yoga DVDs sound really different... but they sound really effective & useful too because they offer shorter segments. Since I've been doing yoga quite a bit more lately, it's made me realize how much I miss it & that I need to fit it into my routine more often. So I think I may start doing 4 days of cardio/weights, either alternating or something along the lines of Cathe's new series, & one day of yoga each week when I'm able to go back to regular weight training again (hopefully next week). Speaking of that... the only DVD I found at home that mentioned "functional fitness" is Core Secrets Head to To in 30 minutes. That's one of those DVDs I bought & did a couple of times but found extremely boring so I haven't done it again. But it's an okay workout so I didn't think it was worth tossing either. It does state on the back cover that all the moves are based on functional fitness so I guess this might fit what you were looking for. (?) It's also only 30 minutes so I guess I could do it & add on a 20 or 30 minute yoga or pilates routine afterwards. What do you think? LOL about being an enabler! I've already been mentioning getting another form of cardio machine but my DH doesn't think we need it, nor do we have anyplace to put it. I'd actually like to replace our treadmill with an elliptical because it's supposed to be so much better for your knees but he doesn't see the need to change what we have. Is your bike recumbent? By the way, the description of those new scents sounds truly divine.

Jen - I hope things settle down for you soon at work & I hope you get a chance to visit today.

Well, I better go for now but I'll be sure to check back in later. Take care & have a great day!

Kel - that's funny about your DH coming down while doing CC. My DH does the same thing, only he opens his mouth. I'll be doing a level 4 sprint and I have the TM cranked up as high as it goes.....and he says ......you better watch you don't fall and wipe out. I can't adjust the incline on mine (it only has 3 levels and you have to do it by lifting the bottom, etc)...so I always just run really fast. I think you should definitely have a couple pieces of exercise equipment for aerobics. Your body gets so used to one particular activity and then it's not as efficient training. I also get bored....so sometimes, I'll do my cardio on the bike, TM and the Ellipitcal and it keeps my attention more focused on my workout.

RE: Core Secrets. I have all of them and use them for FF weeks....however, I always do 2 back to back....as I think one is too easy. That would be perfect to do ...just do it twice. I play my own music when I do them cuz they're easy to follow and it helps with the boredom factor of them.

Yes....those scents look good....especially the one I said was calling my name. I love love love amber and black currant and rose of attar, black orchid and I can almost envision (or ensmell???) the way it's going to smell! I'm pretty good at knowing what ones will work on me and what to avoid. I pretty much love Red Musk, resin scents and fruity and sweet stuff, as well as creamy stuff. That's all I need to do is get you hooked on Black Phoenix (BPAL) .....you're DH will really have a fit. I love the Tee's too. They are so original and unique and nobody else around town has one like me EVER! I like being different and they are cool! Perfect for a HIP CHICK like you .

Glad you enjoyed CC even more. They are addicting. I love Coach Sean! He makes me push harder and harder all of the time.

Have you ever done any Kundalini Yoga? Have you ever read about it over at Videofitness?

Kel - I forgot to comment on the double thread. Geez.....swear I'm goin' crazy. I thought I posted that on the Hardcore thread this morning and when I went to update the Hardcore thread it wasn't there and I'm thinking "I know I started it". Yikes......my brain must have still been on my black amber, black orchid....et all perfume oil and I was late getting to my circuit workout!

Now I'm going crazy trying to plan my weight week next week since I'm leaving for Vegas on Friday. I only have Mon and Wed to lift weights and I'm wondering if I should do 2 total body workouts or do my frontside Jillian weights on Monday and Backside Jillian weights on Wed........cuz then I won't lift for an entire week! Yikes! I can feel myself gaining weight already.....eating in Vegas .....can't walk fast due to broken foot and no cardio or lifting........double yikes.

I'm having a BRIEF moment of being able to smell.......and when I have these moments of smelling clarity, I love to patch test all of my new oils all over me.....but I can't do that right now cuz I have a doctor appt at 3:30 pm. DARN!!! At least I can smell the one I'm wearing for the moment. It won't last.........never does.

Hi ladies! Popping in real quick just to say hi! Wow, I have missed a lot of chatting, sorry about that! Work running very, very long these days and probably will for at least another month or two. I did manage to fit in my workout tonight-did S&H Legs and Shoulders. Lifted heavier than ever...felt good! :) I will try to catch up more towards the weekend. The next day or two might be dicey.

Have a great night everyone! Maybe I can pop in at lunch tomorrow or early a.m.

Jen
