Trying to Fit Yoga in For Tuesday October 2

Cathlete
I ended up doing Spinning -Cardio Spin - Interval Ride. I actually was only planning on doing 30" and then going up to do another 30" on the Rebounder but I practiced standing longer on the standing climb intervals and went to a real place of "mental toughness" and actually did surprisingly well on the climbing today and had a great intense workout. Workout was 56" with cool down and I burned 415 calories. I then finished with Gaiim Pilates Ring workout (skipping the upper body on it) 30" and then did Yogafit for Cyclists - After Ride Stretch 6" and Ravi & Ana's Yoga Quick Fixes - Headache Helper 6". Wanted to do more yoga...but it was getting late...so I'll try and fit in some Classical Stretch or yoga later (hopefully).

I have no idea how my interview went yesterday. I was very nervous and I don't think I did well on the Excel test....but probably did okay on the typing one. They were both 5 minute timed and during the typing one, I was looking for the second sheet to keep typing and the Office Manager was standing in the back of the room with a stopwatch and said there wasn't a second page.....so at least I finished it. I did not even come close to finishing the timed Excel test. The Office Manger and Personnel Director interviewed me and the Office Manger was very intimidating. I guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.

My pain is flaring horribly today and I don't know if it's from too many pushups yesterday or what. I also did side planks yesterday and my traps are horriblly spasmed today. When will I learn that YES I am strong enough to do them.....but why do them and suffer with this pain??

Have great days everyone. I go to the foot doctor tomorrow for x-rays.....woo hoo....here's hoping I can get out of my cast bootie.

Jen - that's the reason I kept that Shape Bikini Boot Camp DVD....I love that short interval cardio segment on there. I guess Lenny did okay from his treatment......cuz I haven't heard otherwise.

Kel - I had to crack up when I read that you mentioned you needed a vacation to your husband and the comment he made back. They are so clueless, aren't they? They certainly aren't as sensitive or intuitive as women are! Sometimes my intuition is so keen that I wish it would go away. I usually know things before they happen and it sort of freaks me out at times. I usually just go the "direct" route re: vacations and things I want and need........as that's the only hint they can get!! LOL Hopefully, he'll show you travel plans in a couple days and say he wanted
to surprise you. Yeah right....like that would ever happen.

Good morning everyone! I didn't eat healthy last night (had some leftovers from eating out over the weekend) but we took Skippy to the park for a walk afterward so hopefully that helped. That was Skippy's first trip to the park & he did pretty good, considering. At first, he barked his head off at all the other doggies but after we started walking, the barking subsided & he just seemed really happy to be there. He even "met" a couple of basset hounds & he did real well with that too. We ended up walking about 2 miles & he was worn out by the time we got him home. I think DH was too - LOL!

This morning, I did Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Extreme in its entirety & really enjoyed it. In the past, I've only done a couple of the premixes but I wanted to kick it up a notch so I decided to get up early enough to do the whole workout. I still don't feel like I get as good or intense of a workout as I do with Cathe but it's still good. I've been getting bored with my "typical" or "normal" workout selections so I can hardly wait to get Cathe's new series. I'm seriously thinking about going ahead & placing an order for some other workouts soon too.

Lora - For somebody who wakes up feeling unmotivated, you sure did get in a great workout! Sorry you're experiencing some pain today & I hope you have a chance to fit in some more yoga or stretching later. Maybe that will help. Hope you hear something positive back about that job too. OMG... I'm ROTFLMAO at your comments about my DH & our vacation "discussion"! You have got him pegged! Yeah, he's definitely not going to surprise me with travel plans in a couple of days - LOL. Oh, I know he needs a vacation too but he's so driven about finishing this project first that I honestly don't know when it will possibly happen. I even mentioned taking off mid-week so we could still be back to work on Saturday so we'll see. Good luck at the doctor tomorrow. I hope you get good news & don't have to wear that confounded boot anymore. Oh... you haven't mentioned anything about your mom recently. How is she doing?

Jen - How is Lenny doing? I thought about you when we saw those basset hounds last night. I don't think I've ever seen one in person before so I was actually a little surprised at how big they are. The owner said they weigh about 65 pounds. Skippy only weighs about 25 but he's got longer legs so that makes him look to be sort of similar in size. They were SO cute. They were a male & a female & one had the more traditional markings while the other one was cream colored with darker tan spots. Hope you have a great day at work & find some time to post later!

Yve - Your walk at the golf course sounds nice. Golf courses are always so pretty. You asked what colors we used painting that house... we just painted it white. We use white semi-gloss in all our rentals. It makes them look really clean & bright... plus, it's easy to clean up between renters because the semi-gloss can just be wiped down. Hope you had a nice time celebrating your mom's b-day yesterday & enjoy your yoga class today. Hope your hayfever goes away soon too.

Christine - HI if you pop in later. I hope Jimmy is doing okay...

Well, off to do some "real" work now. Hope everyone has a great day & I'll be sure to pop back in later to see what's going on.

Hi Ladies,

Today I spent 30 minutes on the treadmill and 20 on the elliptical.
Tonight I am going to my yoga class.

Lora How did you like the ring workout? I haven't done the pilates ring in a while...Sorry you are in such pain.. Hope that all goes will with your xrays and that you can remove your boot.

Kel - Great workout this morning. I agree re the white paint - and the efficiency/simplicity of cleaning between tenants... It always makes the room look so much bigger too. Cute story about Skippy.... I think I must have missed your post about him... Is this a new dog?

Jen - I am kind of curious..... How are you able to send your dvds back? Do you order them from somewhere that has such a policy? I usually just order from cksales in Canada or from amazon... and have been stuck with lots of dvds that I only like marginally.

Christine - Hope all is well.

Have a nice afternoon ladies.

Yve

Kel - Re: Amy Bento's Hi/Lo Extreme......I can't believe you don't think it's that intense. I got my heartrate the highest I've ever gotten in doing that DVD. I think Amy's forte is Hi/Lo. I like Amy a lot and her body type is very similar to mine. I do carry a bit more fat on my lower half than her...but my upper body and abs are a lot like hers. She is also VERY nice to converse with. I've had a few email conversations with her. She amazes me cuz she has a full time job, teaches fitness classes and does the videos as side projects. She's also a Nutritionist. Re: Mom - she's doing okay......still having some problems. Her fracture site is not healed yet. She finally got a follow up x-ray and one of the fractures is healing and the other is not. She will have to have it redone in a while and re: her bladder problems, she just has to live with it and doesn't like the cystitis/overactive bladder she has. She also has polymyalgia and went off her prednisone recently and her pain came back so badly that she could hardly move, so she had to call her doctor and get put back on the prednisone. She's okay though..........thanks for asking. I always tell her she doesn't make getting old look very appealing!!!

Yve - The Ring workout didn't feel difficult enough for me. I just never feel worked enough doine 10 reps in Pilates. Is that how many reps your classes are also? I guess I'll have to get busy and figure out how to install my power cord on the Reformer if I want a tough pilates workout. I'll see if my legs are sore tomorrow, but with all of that standing hill climbing during the Spinning, I think they will be sore from that.....so it will be hard to pinpoint.

Nobody here wants that Yuba River DVD then??? If not, I have someone in mind I'm gonna send it to.

Back again one more time... trying to avoid "real" work - LOL.

Yve - You're right about white making a room look bigger. That's definitely a plus too. About Skippy... our other doggie, Hippy, passed away during the holidays last year & we got Skippy in February, around Valentine's Day. He's about 2 years old now & was a shelter/foster dog his whole life so it's taken him quite awhile to become totally trusting & realize that this is his new home & we're not going to take him back. He's a real sweet dog who's extremely eager to please & we just love him to pieces. Thanks for asking about him. I don't remember (sorry)... do you have any pets?

Lora - I really enjoyed the Hi/Lo by Amy but maybe I don't know the whole routine well enough to really "give it my all". I tend to enjoy floor aerobics more than step, although I really like Cathe's step routines, so this is definitely one I'll continue to do frequently. I also like Kelly Coffey-Meyer A LOT but the only one I own is Shape Of Things To Come so not only have I been considering preordering her new ones, I'm also planning to get NYC & Step Boxing. Glad to hear your mom is doing some better but sorry to hear she's still having some problems. Hope she continues to get better with each passing day. About the Yuba River DVD, I think Yve said she wanted it...

Well, off to do a bit more & then get outta here. I am SO ready for this (work) day to be over. Hope everyone has a great evening & I'll try to peek in if I have chance...

Kel - You're ready for work to be over and I just wish I could have a work day! Never thought I'd want to work so badly. I'm actually really antsy ever since that 2 weeks of work. I got the "work momentum" going and now I'm ready! Thanks for letting me know about Yuba River. I must be blind!

See you ladies in the AM.

Love to all of the Puppies and Kitties!!! Lots of kisses and hugs to the babies!!! Brookie had a panting attack earlier today after running around helping me change the bedding on the bed! I swear...........cat's don't PANT. It's not normal!

ETA: looks like it's getting a bit late for yoga! I was on an OCD search for a couple nail polish colours. I've turned into a real nail polish junkie lately............since I discovered the coolest blog/website.....called All Lacquered Up. I signed up for her Newsletter and she keeps sending updates of all of the Fall collections with pictures of her nails done in all the colours and previews of the Holiday collection. I bought 3 bottles of polish today and 2 yesterday!! No more until Zoya's Holiday Collection comes out!! Zoya came out with the coolest green polish in their Fall collection called Suvi! I love it!

Hi ladies! Quick post again but I will try to get in some personals this time. Tonight I did Muscle Max. I don't think I have done that one any time recently. It was tough. I had the intention of doing the Timesaver premix. After a couple of the leg exercises, my legs were out of energy. (I got DOMS from the plyo moves in yesterday's cardio.) I stayed with the upper body stuff until the end and I did do the inner thigh plies and ab work. I probably should have just stuck with the UB premix. I am feeling a bit overtrained and my eye is twitching slightly (my usual first indication) even though my workouts haven't been that intense of late. Lenny is still doing great! Has another chemo session this Friday.

Lora-Good job on the "place of mental toughness"! Can I borrow that? I could use some! Gosh, that interview sounds pretty intense. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Good Luck with your cast bootie visit! Hope they finally give you some good news about getting that thing off of you! Sorry your yoga yesterday did not end up very peaceful. I wouldn't have guessed that from the title either. What is Jivamukti yoga like? How does it compare to hatha or Kundalini? What makes it unique? I did not get to the third workout on that Shape DVD. I think it's called Potpourri or something. How do you like that third workout?

Kel-Wow! Another busy weekend! I know what you mean about painting being such a workout. I am usually sore in ny legs from either squatting or getting up and down from the ladder. DH & I were on a painting frenzy when we first moved into our house. We got in over our heads with it, didn't finish the rooms, and now the sight of a paintbrush makes me gag. We will probably end up paying someone to finish the rest. LOL! I am sure your DH will come around about vacation. With 5 days to use, I can't wait to hear where you will go!

Yve-How was your mom's birthday dinner? Where did you end up going? Does your brother live close by? I love the sound of your golf course walk. It is so nice to walk places where the air is fresh and you don't have to worry about being run over by cars! I sure hope your headaches are gone soon. It is sort of a catch-22 to get out in the weather......it's so nice and mild that walking seems to be the ideal thing to do, until those allergies catch up with you! Are you taking anything? Re: My fitness DVDs-I rent them online from Netflix. Even though their selection is a bit limited, they have really grown their exercise DVDs over the past year and it has been a great way to preview them to decide if I want to purchase a workout. They send them to you in an envelope and you just mail it back to them. The shipping is included in your monthly membership fee and the envelope is postage paid. Sooooo convenient! Can't say enough about it! :) Right now, I am on the 4 at a time DVD plan. I have about 500 DVDs in my queue that I want to see (about 1/3 of those are fitness DVDs)! When you send a DVD back, they automatically send out your next available movie. You can line up movies in a queue and rearrange the order whenever you like. OK, enough Netflix commercial for now!

Have a great night ladies!
