Morning Ladies -

This morning I did CIA - Athletic Step Jam with Sharon Money-Twombly. Workout was 62" and I burned 546 calories. My back's bothering me a bit from the impact. I'm going to need to do some low impact the rest of the week for my back and for sake of not getting another stress fracture in my foot. I have to be careful, as I don't want to end up with another one from too much impact.

The music in this workout was good. I thought it would be easier to follow for an athletic step DVD. I really didn't care for the warmup or first combo, but then it got to be more fun. My HR only stayed 130 for the first part of it and I was bummed....but 20-30 into the workout it started going higher. I think once I learn it, I can work it harder...but I wasn't expecting to have a learning curve. I didn't try the ab work or Ball section yet. No time.

I'm really stressin' out about getting my weight and equipment ready for Cathe's new system. Not sure if I have enough weight..proper set up. My squat rack's in the basement and I'll have to run downstairs for that and since my DH lifts down there, I can't be in his way. I wish I had money to buy that Walmart bench with Squat rack. I'm not sure I'll get the pullup bar that Cathe's going to sell...although I could use the part for the bench rack.....but not sure I'll buy it just for modified pullups when I have the chin up bar and can use the chair or can do a modified pullup with my body bar lying over two chairs. The other option for the modified pullups are doing them on the Treadmill like Barry teaches you in Barry's Bootcamp.

Sorry for the long post.......long winded today.

Kel - I'm sorry my post about Kettlebells is turning you away from purchasing. They really are fun. You lift about the poundage that I do. I can also lift heavier on my legs...but tend to bulk when I do...so I keep it lighter. If you decide to buy them, you could probably get away with only 2 Kettlebells to start and 1 or 2 DVDs which would averge around $250. If you go to the store to look at them, go to Bodybuilding.com or the www.Artofstrength.com site and view the video clip or read the instructions on how to do a Kettlebell swing. When you go to the store, try a swing with a 15 and 20 lb KB and see which one you feel most comfortable with. You can definitely go heavier on Swings, but I have to watch, as my back can get irritated if I go to heavy. I started with a 15 to practice form, but I really probably could have started with a 20. If you ended up starting with the heavier ones....and needed a lighter one for some of the overhead shoulder movements like the Turkish Get Up (which are very hard with heavier weight)...you could always sub using a dumbbell in place of the kettlebell...although that really takes some of the exercise away ...as the angle of the KB has a lot to do with the workout. For instance, it feels MUCH more difficult for me to do a chest press with a KB with the way the weight is distributed than it does with DBs. I usually can do chest presses with 25 lb DBs not problem, but just using the 20 pound KB....is enough for me with the way the weight distributes. Oh...and Target even sells the Sarah Lurie DVDs that are good starter DVDs and they only cost $14.99 (I think).

Hi to Yve, Jen & long lost Carrie who seems to have indeed OD'd on chocolate bunnies.

Good morning (almost afternoon now) -

This morning, I did 4DS Bootcamp plus Bi's & Tri's. With this workout, it was quite evident that I have lost some strength but probably not as much as I would have thought. I tried to match Cathe with all the exercises, even though it's been awhile since I've done any heavy weight training, & I actually did pretty good except for a few exercises & a few reps. When I couldn't match her or had to quit early, I just added on some extra reps with lighter weights. All in all, I'm very happy with how I did & it was a great workout!

Lora - Athletic Step Jam sounds like yet another good workout! I'm in just about the same situation as you with preparing for STS. I work out in our den right now & I don't really have room for any extra stuff. But I still need a pull up bar (or the new one that they're developing for STS), probably some additional weights, & I don't even have plans to get a squat rack so now I'm starting to second guess that decision too. I really hope we can get my workout space finished before it's released but I'm not sure we will. I guess I just need to wait & see what all is involved & what I still need to get once it's released... although I'd really rather be completely prepared so I can start right away. Thanks for the information about KB's. You haven't turned me away but I'm just not sure about spending extra money on that when I still need stuff for STS. I really like what everyone is saying about them though! So did you get the new Eionn DVD? I got a gift card for my b-day & I still haven't spent it so that's one thing I'm considering (in addition to the KBs or some other fitness-related stuff). I love his original PY4H so I think I'd like this one too...

Well, I better go as it's almost lunchtime. I think I might take a walk if the weather permits. Hi to Yve, Jen, & Carrie if any of you are around today. Hope everyone has a great day!
