Trying to Fit Yoga In for Tues October 9

Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning I did CIA - Infused Step with Gay Gasper ....cuz I LOVE the music on this one. It's mostly all recognizable hip/hop type songs that are pretty current. I'm not really a hip/hop girl...but I do like it for workout music. Reminds me of the old Tae Bo Live music in the day. Workout was 57" and I burned 416 calories. My HR stayed around 145-155 the entire workout....so I guess it was pretty intense and I was even having difficulty following it. Yes, my HRM is back from the dead. AMazingly, the button fell off the thing the other night and somehow, I got it back on and it started working again...for the moment.

I hope I didn't overdo it on my foot, as the doctor said I was supposed to ease into using my foot and not walk on it for more than 20" at a time. My foot hurts a bit. I did a few jumping jacks and other jumps cuz it's so hard not to.

I also did Core Pilates off of Prevention Slim, Sleek and Strong 20" with my green band and Namaste Yoga - Head to Knee 23", as well as Ravi & Ana's Detox - LIghten Up and Purify - Love Your Liver 25".

Tomorrow's M&F rotation doesn't look that hard on paper to me.......so I guess I'll find out when I do it tomorrow. It definitely looks shorter than the other one. The weather changed here and I've got a stupid migraine.

Jen - I wanted to do this Prevention Core Pilates again and concentrate on using my core more and not paying attention to the band as much. It seemed to help. I did feel it a bit more, especially during the Hundred. I hardly felt the leg work, but I did feel it slightly more. I concentrated on activating my core and squeezing my leg down. Still.....it doesn't really feel like a hard workout to me, but because I also know how benefiical it is for you, I will continue to add it on to my workouts or do it on my rest day, or when I'm too beat to do anything else. I will try it with the weights next and let you know what I think. Did you buy this Prevention workout, or rent it thru Netflix?

Kel - I hope you are able to fit some yoga in soon.

Christine - How's your goofy Jimmy? My little Brookie is so intrigued by the blow dryer. She's sort of afraid of it, but it peaks her curiosity so much that she has to be brave and check it out (she's so scared of everything). Every time she hears me get it out, she runs upstairs to watch me. I turn around and blow her lightly with it and she blinks her eyes, but if I get too close, she freaks out. Then she intensely watches me dry my hair and put it away. She is so fascinated by the whole ordeal. She cracks me up. I have no idea why this is so fascinating to her. She was also tearing around this house this morning so fast.......that she skidded off the kitchen floor. YOou know those cartoons where they show the animal taking off to run and their feet sort of skid in place for a while until they get going?....well...that's what she did. I was crackin' up. She's a crazy girl.

Guess what everyone?? My Yoga Journal Yoga DVDs with Shiva, Baron and Seane shipped ....woo hooo! I've got those coming and I ordered one called From the Ground Up -Scaravelli Yoga......supposed to be good for back problems. I'm also eyeing an Iyengar practice with Lynn Watkins....but I don't think I have enough in my Paypal account to get it yet. I NEED A FREAKIN" job!!

Have a great day everyone.........sorry I wrote a book this morning! LOL............practicing my typing!

Yve - sorry....didn't mean to forget about you above! I'm glad you made it thru Thanksgiving. Will you kindly explain to me why your Thanksgiving is earlier than ours? I'm serious here.....and don't mean to sound stupid.....but I'm not a huge history buff and I'd really like to know. I like learning about other countries. Canada fascinates me and some of the stuff you have told me about Canada makes me want to live there! I packed up that DVD and it will go out tomorrow to your Niagra addy. Do you need my addy or do you still have it? I hope you enjoy it.

Guess what everyone??? I got called for an interview at the Health Club that I applied at yesterday. I'm waiting for her to call back to set up an interview for today.

Hi Lora - No worries.

I didn't know the answer to your question - and so I looked it up.
In both countries - the history of Thanksgiving is about being thankful for the fall harvest. At one time, Thanksgiving in Canada was also held in November (following the US Tksgivg) but since Canada has a colder climate - and our harvest is earlier - it was changed in the 1920's to the 2nd Monday of October.

I still have your addy Lora - and so will send you all funds together. What is the price of the dvd?

Congratulations on your job interview. Hope it goes well. What position will you be interviewing for?

Hi Ladies,

Weather change here too. Very rainy and grey. Yesterday was like a beautiful summer day - 30 degrees, sunny and humid.

This afternoon I am going to go downstairs and use the eliptical and treadmill. Tonight I will go to ashtanga class. My pilates instructor emailed us all and told us that he will be adding another class per week... So Wednesday nights I will be doing pilates also.

I am really achey - and tired. I don't know if it is my allergies or if I am fighting a cold - but my throat is so sore. I actually got up at 4:00am to make some hot honey lemon drink.

Lora - I am sorry you have a headache... I can so relate to the pressure changes. That's an amazing workout this morning.

Kel - The weather where you are is amazing. How nice that you went swimming. I hope you are able to fit in some yoga this week.
The Thanksgiving dinner went well. Everyone was happily stuffed :)
My SIL helped me alot with the clean up so I am very happy for that. But even so - with 4 neices and nephews in the place, there were lots of little greasy finger prints on the walls etc.... I spent yesterday cleaning also. That is ok...It was fun doing the gathering. I bought the turkey from a butcher shop that also run their own farms. Their meats for the most part are free range. The turkey was very tender. I would buy from him again. Yes - I will be doing some classes this week. Ashtanga tonight - and either restorative or hatha on Friday... depending on how I feel.

Jen - That is a bummer that you had to work on the weekend. Also too bad that you had to miss the Cathe gathering. How is your knee today?

Christine - I had to chuckle at your post about Forrest yoga. I know what you mean about the pretzel moves. When something is just over the top - I just modify....Glad you like the Rodney practice.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Yve

Yve - it's rainy and grey here today also. Sorry....didn't mean for you to look that up. I was just curious. Thanks for doing that though. I paid $20 for the DVD, so how about $10 plus $2.50 for shipping? I have no idea what I'm interviewing for. I asked for "any position". I'm going for my interview at 3:00 pm. I'll let you know after that.

I'm so frustrated and disappointed. If my foot were feeling better, I'd be doing a hard core workout right now. I went for that interview and it was a joke. They already hired all of the full-time permanent people and are now looking for a "fill in" person for the front desk when someone calls off sick. But.......before they (the buff owner dude and his side-kick - wife? girlfriend?) interviewed me and told me about the job.......they were telling me how impressive my qualifications were, etc. and even went on to say that I'm probably not getting jobs (like the one I was interviewing for) because I am over qualified and in his experience people like me just leave jobs like that to take something in their field and get paid what they are worth. I explained how much I'm into fitness and that wouldn't necessarily be the case with me. It was a waste of time and I'm really bummed about this whole job frustration/search....stuff.

My new HRM came and I'm trying to figure out how to work it. It's different than my old one. I'm a creature of habit....not sure different is good .............vent over

Hi ladies! Quick post again! Sorry, I promise to get caught up! Tonight's WO was Get Ripped shoulders twice through. I like shoulders day---since there is no cardio or abs on the schedule! I followed it with Restorative Yoga for Beginners, Session I with Patricia Walden. This was an old VHS workout that I got in January (from my dad) but haven't done. Actually, I have never done a restorative practice before. It was nice, but brought up some sadness, which is the reason I had been avoiding yoga like the plague earlier this year. I am trying to slip it back in little by little and was doing well at it until today. I am sure whatever "comes up" needs to be felt/dealt with....just would rather not right now. Anyway, it was a good practice, but there were a couple of props needed that I didn't have....but I went ahead and completed it using just the yoga mat and a blanket.

Have a great night everyone!
