Trying to Fit Yoga in for Tues Nov 5

Morning Ladies-

This morning I did Cathe's Low Intensity Step twice thru and then did the stretch at the end. Workout was 67" and I burned only 531 calories. I tried to keep it as low impact as possible, but I did catch myself a few times taking the impact up. That step workout leg section burned on the second time thru.

I also did Shape Pilates Butt, Thighs & Ab Makeover 30" and Ravi & Ana's Dancin' the Chakras - Yoga Set only 30".

Hopefully our bike will get fixed today so I can start using it again, as I need to do some more low impact.

I work tonight. Hope I can stay awake later......cuz last night I got real tired around 7:30 pm........and don't know what that was all about! I'm so out of whack from this schedule.

Jen - Okay....I might sound stupid...but I admit I don't know much about IVF. You mean, they would actually do it with an egg donor's egg? Is that what you mean? I never heard of that. I hope your test results come back better today. I know how much you want children. Since my biological clock never "went off" so to speak.....sometimes I feel very abnormal around other women who have and want children. The other thing that makes me not feel like I belong in the female race is the fact that I'm not domestic at all! I'm sure you will be a great Mom...cuz you're a great Mom to your puppies! What page are those meditations on in Gurumuk's book? I can never sleep after I get home from working the late shift and I really would like to be able to take my make up off and go right to sleep. I usually do the yoga pose "legs up the wall" to reverse the gravity effect of being on my feet all night and trying to relax so I can fall asleep but it hasn't been working that great. I need time to wind down after work....but I don't want to stay up that late.

Yve - I forgot you told us you were pregnant. When are you due again? I bet your DH is excited. What aren't you allowed to do workout wise?

Have a great day ladies.

Where's Kel?

Hi Ladies,

Just got back from my first prenatal pilates class. We did some work on the ball, the cadillac and the reformer. I really like this new instructor - as she has a 10 yr pilates background - trained at Stott - and was a dancer before that. She has also had 3 kids - which makes me feel a bit better about the various exercises.

Lora - Another great workout. How are you feet feeling? I am due April 2nd. In second trimester, we aren't supposed to do exercises that are on our backs for long lengths of time. So - no crunches - no spinal twists (lying down). We also aren't supposed to do things on our bellies - so no cobras or chutterunga. Ab work has to be done with back at about a 45 degree angle from floor. So today - we incorporated leg work with the band - that activated the abs also.

Jen - The weather here has been getting chilly over the last few days.. The weekend was beautiful though. Today it is 5 degrees outside - and is supposed to fall to 0 tonight!!!
Another book I would recommend is -Taking Charge of your Fertility - by Toni Weschler. I have a few more that are related to foods that boost fertility - but they are packed in boxes still. Will try to search amazon to see if I can find their titles.
The blood tests that I took showed that my hormones were very low... and cortisol - the stress hormone was quite high. I went to see a doctor who practices what in Canada is called integrative medicine.
This dr is a gynecologist/obstetrician - that practiced mainstream medicine for most of his life.. but about 10 yrs ago - unhappy with the way the system was going - chose to integrate natural medicine with his clinical practice. He was one of the first to realize that hrt would lead to breast cancer and heart disease. Anyhow - he put me on a natural progesterone cream - which would then help all other symptoms. I felt incredible taking this. It also helped regulate my periods - and controlled pms. This cream also helps those that suffer from endometiosis, fibroids, menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms. His website is www.drpettle.com. Another thing he recommended was to take a daily prenatal vitamin, and to chart my temperature.
WRT the fsh reading - I know that this can fluctuate as one enters perimenopause. Are you taking fertility drugs now?
WRT learning the sex of the baby - I have my next dr appt on Nov. 23rd. I will get the full report back from the amnioscentisis - and on that will be the gender. We haven't seriously talked about names yet - though we have toyed with the idea of Zachary if it is a boy, and Thalia if it is a girl. I haven't begun keeping a journal. I would like to though. How nice that your mom did this for you...
I can just imagine how hard it would be not to get teary reading it. I don't feel any movement yet. My placenta is in the front of the uterus - and so the doctor said that I will not feel much for a while yet.

I know that waiting is the hardest part of taking any medical tests - but hang in there - we are here for you. As well - do not hesitate to get a 2nd opinion. Hope everything goes well today.

Hello to Christine and Kel if you check in later.

Yve

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was Ripped 1000 Triceps extensions followed by 100 triceps dips. I also did the abs from Push/Pull. I should have done some cardio, but just couldn't concentrate. My tests did not go well again, so we pretty much know that an egg donor is the only way...at least according to the nurse I spoke with last week. We have a consult with the dr. next Tues @ 9:30 to hear "officially" what our next step is, if any. I have been on an emotional roller coaster since the news about my bloodwork. Part of me is really ready for all of this to be over and part of me will be disappointed if I quit without doing everything we could to have a child. I am going to try to do some reading up on egg donation. I have to get some more perspectives on this before I can make a decision-I just don't know enough about it right now to decide if it's the right thing or not.

Lora-Wow, you were tired by 7:30! Gosh, that is early. I am usually fighting sleep around 8:30 and I thought that was early! Sorry you are feeling so out of whack. Are things better with you and DH? The Kundalini meditations are thoughout the book (if I remember correctly) and I think they are towards the end of each chapter. Some of them are kinda strange, but the one that really stuck with me is the 3 inhales while saying sat nam and then exhaling once while saying wahe guru. You can turn your head to the left and right for each cycle of inhales and exhales. I usually don't do that because it disturbs DH and he asks me what I am doing! LOL! :p Thanks for saying I would make a great mom-it was a nice pick-me-up! Yes, you have it right....they would use someone else's eggs (with my DHs "swimmies") for the IVF process. That way you are still get the experience of carrying the baby, delivery/childbirth, etc. Those are the parts that I am not really all that excited about, but I think would be critical for bonding if the child will not be biologically mine.

Yve-Gosh, that is interesting about your physician integrating natural medicine and clinical medicine-I have always thought very highly of that approach. I have thought about a second opinion and may still go through with it. I am not taking any fertility drugs right now. I have heard about the Taking Charge of Your Fertility, so I will check that one out also. OMG, so you will know the sex of the baby pretty soon! :) I like the names you picked out! I especially like the girl's name and considered that name as well. It is so unique-how did you choose it? Is it a family name?
