Morning Ladies -
This morning I did Amy's In the Ring. Workout was 54" and I only burned 417 calories. Amy frustrates me!! There is a definite learning curve for this workout. My HR hardly elevated until well into the workout and then it was only moderate (I would normally be mad about not having a good workout, but I've been battling a slight stomach flu for a week now and I guess a couple of easier days might be good for me). I was always one step or one punch behind her and on the wrong side! The med-ball segments were short but fun.
This DVD had a bit too much impact for supposedly being "low impact". Since when is jogging, jumping jacks and jump kicks low impact? I'm sure I'll enjoy modifying on my Rebounder also, as I'm always able to do Kickboxing on the Rebounder and make it more intense. My metatarsal's hurting a bit and I definitely don't want another stress fracture....so I must watch the impact. I started writing it down in my Workout journal so I can keep track of how much I do each week with regards to impact.
Kel - I was reading more on Cathe's Open Discussion re: someone asking if STS was for them....and SNM answered. SNM states that you really only need slighly heavier weight than what you'd use for Pyramids or Gym Styles and a Squat rack is only an option and most of the leg workouts don't use one. They stated that they assume 95% of their customers will want the non-squat rack leg workouts. They stated the only thing REALLY needed is something to do pullups on and slightly heavier weights or even just using tubing for the weights. I was glad to read this....but I still have the problem of needing something to hold my bar when I bench press heavy and something to do intermediate pullups on .....so I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for STS. Yes, I think you should definitely get Eion's new one....but I understand your ability to pass on it right now. It's a toughie. I also feel the exact same way about leg work as you. I need to fit in more Lotte Berk, Squeeze and Classical Stretch, IBallet, etc....but I can't find time. I'm thinking of doing an upcoming week of different stuff and doing some of the stuff I never have time for. Yes, I'd definitely get Gliding Discs. They are very good for those leg exercises. Paper plates would work, but they don't slide quite as nicely and they get a bit bent up, etc. If you get Gliding Discs, you can get a couple Gliding workouts also to incorporate in your routine. Gliding is different, low impact and sort of fun in it's own way. Nobody has yet to come up with a super fast, intense Gliding DVD so I usually add a bit on to some of my cardio workouts here and there and do super fast speed skating, sliding from side to side, etc. If you do a web search for Gliding Discs, the website to order should come up. I think the basic package is relatively inexpensive and comes with the basic DVD set which is so/so.
Yve - great to hear from you. I'm glad you're doing good. When are you allowed to start working out again? or is that the farthest thing from your mind with your new bundle of joy??
Have great days everyone..................Please come back Jen & Carrie!!
