Trying to Fit Yoga In for Sunday October 7

Morning Ladies -

This morning I did Spinervals Sprinting Machine. Workout (without stretch) was 54" and I burned 424 calories (although not sure that is totally accurate as my HRM wouldn't read my HR for the last 20"). I then did Prevention Slim, Strong and Firm - Core Pilates segment (using my red band) with w/u & c/d 30". I finished off with Yoga for Surfers Volume 1 40". Since my legs are finally getting stronger from spinning, I was able to really crank the resistance during the intervals and now my legs are TOAST! That's the only downside to spinning is that sometimes your legs feel too sore to lift weights the next day.

This Yoga for Surfers DVD would be excellent is she held the poses just a tad longer and made it a slightly longer workout. It has a really good variety of different poses. Even do Mermaid stretch from Pilates.

I'm still not sure about this Prevention workout. I think maybe I'm so concerned with the band that I'm not using good enough form and using my core enough?? Wish Yve was around to give me some suggestions. I want to like Pilates....but most of the time, I feel like I'm wasting my time. Yve........if you read this on Monday....please help me.

Have great workouts or rest days everyone. We're going to the dollar theatre today to see Shoot Em Up.

Also, whoever didn't check in over the weekend....please read Oct 6 to see if you ladies want this DVD before I put it on ebay.

Jen - Looks like it's just me and you this weekend and you seem busy too.....so I guess it's just lil' ol' me talking to myself like the lunatic that I am!!

Have a good one everyone.

Hi ladies! Didn't get my workout in or get to go to the ATL Cathe GTG. :( We had carpet cleaners come in at work and they were there for a lot longer than I expected. Kinda' threw a big wrench in my day. I ended up being at work most of the day. DH was nice enough to keep me company. Not sure what's going to be on tap for today. I previewed Jillian's Backside workout on Friday and it looked really good also. My knee has a bit of a twinge going on, so I am not sure I am up for any impact. May take one of the doggies for a walk or something and leave it at that. I would love to get in some Bar Method or Squeeze today, too. But for now, I will play it by ear.

Lora-Yep, just us this weekend! I know what you mean about the Pilates. I sorta love it and dislike it at the same time. I like that there are fewer reps per exercise-it makes the time go faster, but I don't really leave the workout feeling especially worked the same way as others. (Occasionally in the abs, but that's it.) I am going to stay with it because I know it's beneficial. Both Oxygen and M&F have done articles about it and they seem to be more in favor of what it does for you-even more so than yoga. I am on the fence about that same Prevention workout. I really want to like it but I am still not sure. Meant to ask you from a few days ago-you wrote that you modify in cow pose. I can't even get a HINT of getting in that pose my hips are so tight!!!!! I have never seen a modification for it. What are you doing when they do that pose? Have their been any DVDs that you feel have helped you move further toward the pose? Did Ravi and Ana's Yoga Bliss Hips help? Good job on your workout this morning! Hope you enjoy your movie!

Jen - I'm going to try that Prevention workout with handweights after I try it one more time with the band. I think I'll try concentrating on my powerhouse more...instead of the band next time and then try weights. I want to like it too. I ordered the new 10 Minute Solutions Slim & Sculpt cuz the ladies at VF say it's pretty advanced with th eband. Fingers crossed. As far as modifying in Cow Pose.....I sort of just get my legs in the pose, but my knees are much higher and hardly crossed....or if I'm really tight, I just sit Indian style and stretch out in front with my hands. Nothing really has helped my hips.. They remain tight. I think some of Eion's poses really get into the hips good in Magically Hips on his PY4H DVD....as he has little tweaks he uses. The movie wasn't that good today.......good thing it was only $1.

Back again! I looked over the rotations I had and nothing jumped out at me. I decided to go back to Jari's one body part per day + abs and cardio. Tonight's WO was chest segment twice through on Get Ripped. My chest was on fire! I forgot how much I like working this way and really concentrating on one muscle group. I got good results the last time I did this rotation. Anyway, Jari's abs don't impress me much, so I did the Bikini Belly segment from Minna Lessig's DVD. I liked the segment since it had some different ab exercises, but I think the strech would have been better after 2 or 3 exercises back to back instead of what seemed to be after each exercise. I then went over to the park and walked at a moderate pace (read: Bassett Hound pace :) ) for 45 minutes.

Lora-Is the new 10 min solutions one with Amy Bento? I just got that one and I really like the ab segment-it's tough! I will be interested to hear about your experience with Prevention DVD and trying hand weights-it does make it look like it's tougher in a few places.
