Morning Part-Time Yogini's -
This morning I did Speedbody Full Body workout with Rob Forcelli followed by Fluidity Seat & Thigh workout and Yoga For Athletes with Kim Fowler. Workout (minus the yoga) was 1 hour 15 minutes and I burned 430 calories.
I'm going to try this Speedbody workout for 5 days in a row as suggested in their Fast Track to Weight Loss method. It's a workout done in boxing rounds (Rob is a boxer). They do rounds of boxing, athletic cardio, weighted work, and core work with the Speedbody Ball (probably only weighs 2 pounds - so in the future, I'll probably use my heavier med ball). I went much heavier on the weights than they did, as the reps are not particularly high.....mostly 10-12 reps. I've never lifted as heavy as this for 5 days in a row, but since it's circuit work, I think I should be okay. I'm guessing the 5 day theory weight loss is probably based on slight overtraining?
My legs are again "toast" today. Between the Fluidity, weight work and power yoga.....ouch. They have looked slightly more defined the last couple days .......I noticed when I was working out a couple times when I caught a glance in the mirror. Yeah.
If anyone is interesed in purchasing a Seat & Thigh Fluidity DVD off me before I Ebay it, please let me know. I would give it away, but I paid quite a bit for it on Ebay and then ended up with a 2nd copy. It was a decent leg/butt workout today. I find it a bit challenging since it's so much different than traditional weight work.
Jen - Barry's weight work is very high rep....but I usually start out as heavy as I can and end up doing drop sets. He does lots of isometric holds and different stuff....so it's really a change up from Cathe and thus I think effective. The only equipment you need are dumbbells, a higher step (they have about 4-5 risers under theirs - but I use my regular step and it's fine). Barry also does pullups on the treadmill in the treadmill cardio portion of his Arms & Abs DVD which I've found is a very effective way of modifying them but them being challenging enough. If you don't have a treadmill, you can do them the way Amy Bento does them in All Pump and sort of the way they do them in Fluidity.....Drape your barbell (or bodybar) over 2 chairs spaced apart and either sit or lie underneath the bar and do pullups. When you get All Pump Extreme, you'll see Amy do it. You don't need a treadmill, but Barry's treadmill aerobics show you various ways to use your treadmill that I've never seen before and it was fun.
The non-treadmill cardio is VERY tough. Lots of plyos and they use the higher step. It's very athletic types of cardio and each DVD has a different cardio workout......but basically still athletic. Jumping jacks, plyo lunges, athletic step work, skaters, etc. It's very intense but it only lasts 20-25 minutes with no cool down or stretch, so if you add your own cool down and stretch like I did, you'll do about 30-40 minutes of weights and 30 minutes of cardio on each DVD. I think the longest DVD is about 1 hour 10 minutes. They basically stay around 1 hour long....but since I'm always switching weights, etc....it usually takes me longer to complete workouts. I'm gonna do Speedbody for 5 days, so if you order these, maybe we can start the rotation next week. I'm definitely starting next week, as I want to get 4 weeks of Barry's in before our trip in April and that will make the trip my rest/recovery days.
