Trying To Fit Yoga In for Saturday July 7

Morning Ladies -

This morning I did a recovery day workout. I did Self's Dance Your Way Slim with Kimberly Spreen (24") followed by Kung Fu Kickboxing with Tiffany Chen - Kicker Section 2. Total cardio was 47" and I burned 307 calories. Part 2 was even more fun than part 1. It had dog crawls in it and lots of combos. Liked it. Great music. I also did the Lunar Segment from Yoga Radiance 25". My legs are feeling a bit worked from this week's workouts.

Jen - I liked the Self Dance workout. I only did part of it, but it was super easy for me to follow and felt good to move my torso and hips like that. Sort of reminds me of a cross between Hip Hop Abs and YBB with some athletic moves thrown in. I felt like I actually had more rhythm than the background exercisers for once. They weren't intimidating at all. I'm surprised you didn't care for it, although I wouldn't do it on a regular cardio day....not intense enough...and I actually had to put a LOT into it to get my HR up to moderately high.

Re: Working legs 3 times a week. Several months back, I did a long leg rotation on the advice of Diane Sue. I think I did about a 4 month rotation where I worked my legs at least 3-4 times a week and it actually made my jeans start fitting tighter and I gained weight. I think I just built too much muscle under all my fat down there. After that happened, I started experimenting with Lotte Berk, Squeeze, etc. type of training and have been adding that in and now I try not to lift heavier than about 40 pounds on my legs....as I think my lower body tends to bulk with too much weight work. I'm not really sure what the heck is the best thing for my lower body....but I'm still experimenting. I think the Squeeze and Lotte has made my jeans start fitting a bit loser in the upper thighs and glute area though and my thighs have a bit more definition so I'm trying to keep up with that. Yes, I hate working legs...so that's not a fun rotation. What sort of body type do you have? From what you say about yourself, you sound like you build muscle easily ....do you? I don't build muscle easily on my upper body, but my lower body seems to.

Re: Brooklyn- yes, she's getting big. She's long and lanky. Every night when I lay on my balls to watch my show, she comes and cuddles with me and sucks on the blanket and kneads with her paws. She's a trip. Guess she thinks I'm her Mommy now! She's spoiled rotten.

Off to soak in the tub and we're going to the movie's later. I also have to go over my Mom's and use her computer to apply for that job later.

Hi Kel! If you're around today.

Yve - please come back......did you get married yet??

Have great workouts or rest days.

Oh my goodness, I just wrote an extra long post and it got erased because I let too much time lapse. (I left to eat breakfast and came back to finish.) Oh Well. Let's see what I can remember. I am not sure what is on tap today, but I guess it will be a DVD 'cause it is looking rainy outside and because I got in, like, 5 of them this week, so I probably should do one, huh?! :) I am still pretty excited about the weight loss yesterday. I am at 161.5, which is my lowest yet. Some of my 12 pants that were very tight before are now loose everywhere except the thigh/saddlebag area. If I could slim that area down, I probably could go down another pants size soon.

Lora-I checked out the website with the clothes. You definitely should get that Twisted Love tee, it is very cool! Too bad I am so short, the jeans look really good. Their shortest length is 31" and the longest I can have mine is 29 to 30", even in heels! I think my figure is somewhere between an hourglass and a pear. I carry most of my weight in the lower body like a pear and I am slimmer on top. I don't think I am a classic pear, because my shoulders are quite broad. (Think gymnast or swimmer.....in the way, way off season, that is!) I build muscle very, very easy just about everywhere. I look very bulky when I am building muscle but not burning fat in the same area at the same time. So, what is the music like in the Kung Fu Kickboxing? We have liked some of the same music, so I am curious what it is like. Is it driving rock? BTW, do you have an old VHS workout that has Lisa Gaylord leading it and it was by Reebok. It was a kickboxing type workout. I remember it being really, really tough but very good. I think it had kind of a driving rock soundtrack to it. Lots of plyo in it. You are right about Calm Down Dog..I didn't realize it was a short one...I probably could fit that in. My dietitian friend is fussing at me for not stretching after jogging. I know she is right, but when I get back from that, it's the last thing I want to do. I understand why runners dislike yoga so much-it is painful when you are that tight! Any more offers on the house? Do you have a lot of people viewing it this weekend? Enjoy your movie today! What are you going to see?

Jen - I think we're going to see Transformers.

Well, I just applied online for that job as a Full Time Sales Associate at The Buckle. I'm ready to change my life.....but it's ultimately in God's Hands. I am just doing the footwork. I'm getting excited about it though. Maybe I'll end up liking it.......but who knows....maybe the end of the month, I'll get a medical job.......only the man upstairs has these answers right now!

Re: the house. NO offers other than the lowball one, but the guy next door that put his house up for sale "by owner" the week before ours went up (yes, he's got good marketing strategy) sold it in 1 week flat. It's laid out with a Gazebo, hot tub and pool!

I think it wouldn't hurt for you to try adding in more lying leg work from Cathe's DVDs like the one from Pyramid Lower Body and maybe picking up a Squeeze or Lotte Berk type workout to try. You might have some success adding those in or even better, try Iballet...it's tough and you have the capability to download (I don't). It's worth a shot. I think it's helping me.

The music in Kung Fu Kickboxing is that real wild music that Duncan Wong used in his Yogic Arts DVD ...remember the one you rented from Netflix. It's got an Eastern Flair and is something that Shiva Rea also used on Trance Dance I believe. I love it. I think you mentioned you liked it too.

Ooohhhhhhhh...now I have to get that Twisted Love shirt......but I won't tell the hubby!! I love it too. I always have my Aunt (who is a seamstress) hem my jeans, as I've bought tall's just cuz they were on sale before.

better go do my neck stretches....going to see Transformers...whatever that is!

take care,
Lora

Jen - need your opinion since you're in HR and my friend! I got an email from The Buckle asking me to call to set up an interview with the Store Manager. I called and she's going on vacation, so she said to call her next Saturday. Anyway, do you think I should tailor my outfit to match the interview a bit? I mean, I won't wear jeans....but I'm thinking I could wear one of my Manchester tee's from their store with something like my Lower Waisted Gap Wide Leg Black Pinstripe pants. What do you think? I know they wear jeans (mostly like they sell at the store) when they work ....but for the interview, do you think what I described would be good? Funny thing is that the store manager is the chick who waited on me the other day when I was in the store. I didn't tell her that though, as I looked like crap when I was in there the other day.
