Trying to Fit Yoga In for Saturday Aug 18

Morning -

I've been trying to make my Saturdays a recovery day or rest day since my foot has been broken but with the family picnic going on today, I thought I should do a bit of aerobics. I did Gilad's Elite Forces workout on the Rebounder with my boot on. It's sort of a kickbox workout but he throws in some strength moves and combat moves at the end. Since those slowed my HR down too much, I just jogged and did my own thing on the Rebounder for the last 10-15 minutes. I listened to my own music, Saliva, Survival of the Sickest. Workout was 52 minutes and I burned 338 calories ....keeping my HR in the 70-80% range....nothing too hard. I finished with Amy Bento's 10 Minute Solution stretch with band and then I did Yoga for Health - Headache Session 45".

I've got to get ready for that family picnic.........which I'm not really happy about!

Jen - I'm eager to hear how it went at the Vet last night. You're so right about people skills.

Hi ladies!

Lora-How is your mom doing? I hope you get something good & vegan at the picnic today or you are at least going prepared-is it hard for you to sit with people when they are eating meat? Just curious. I didn't really have a hard time with it when I was experimenting with becoming vegetarian. Your family seems to get together almost as often as mine does. That is really nice!

No workout for me yesterday. Left work early for Lenny's appt. Our AC had gone out at home in the morning. What an expensive couple of days! We need a new AC unit and they won't have one until Tuesday. We bought a window unit to hold us over until then.

Lenny's vet visit was as we suspected. The Specialist confirmed cancer in the liver and spleen, but also added that it has reached his lungs, too. :( He said without treatment Lenny only has 2 to 8 weeks to live. So, we opted to begin chemotherapy treatment yesterday. We have to take him in once a week to get either injections or an IV drip on alternating weeks. The doctor said we will probably know whether or not he is responding to treatment within a few days and he will decide what to do regarding the course of treatment over the next four weeks depending on his response to the initial, more agressive doses of medicine. So, we are still in wait and see mode but a little more optimistic since the doctor said that even though he has a lot of cancer, he could potentially be "cured" or go into remission after this round of treatment. He gave him at least a year providing treatment is successful-and if he makes it beyond the two year mark, he may be fine from then on. It was a lot to absorb even though we were prepared.

We are also supposed to go to an IVF seminar on Wed. Considering Friday cost us about 3,000 in chemo treatments (over a period of 12 weeks) and our new AC unit is about 6,000, I am not sure how we will go about affording IVF treatments now. Now is probably not the right time to start the IVF. I really don't even know how to process that yet. I am just thankful that we were able to get done everything we did on Friday. We barely scraped by on it, but we are blessed in that regard. I really feel for those who just have no way to do it.

I am going to try to work out today, but I am not sure it will ultimately happen. I am pretty sore from Killer Butt, so I think I will try for upper body. It is too hot for cardio, that's for sure-especially with no AC!!!

I will BBL-Have a great day!

Jen - wow....that's both good and bad news. The doctor sounds like Lenny could get better, but the cost is really up there. Good luck with the IVF. I know that is another problem that you've been up against in your life! Why can't live be easier? My Mom is doing okay. She still can't see and is still limping and recovering from her pelvic fracture. She also has something wrong with her bladder. She had a severe bladder infection and didn't realize she had it until one day when her pelvic fracture pain was getting better and she told me how she felt and I told her it sounded like an infection ....so she got tested and sure enough, she had a bladder infection. However, after the antibiotics, the symptoms never went away so she has an appt. with a Urologist at the end of the month. We're hoping she didn't damage her bladder/urethra during the fall or during the time that they inserted her Foley Catheter. She's not feeling very "up" right now with the blindness and urology problem. Hopefully, it will be something that is an easy fix.

Re: Meat..........yes, it grosses me out to even smell it. I hate the smell of meat, the look of it, etc. I can't stand to watch someone eat ribs. That's really disgusting.....or chicken off the bone.....yuk. I usually just go find a chair and sit with my food in my lap and eat. It's actually Steve's family (the DH) that gets together a lot. My family is severely dysfunctional and I never see my one sister, as she won't visit my Mom's. My family's get togethers usually just consist of My Mom, me and the DH and my 3 nieces.

Well......I have to go ice my shoulder.....as I strained it somehow yesterday.

Have a great weekend.
