Trying to Fit Yoga in For Monday Oct 29

Morning Ladies -

This moring I did Gin Miller's Serious Strength total body weights. Workout was 1 hour and 20 minutes and I burned 440 calories. This workout is supposed to be a high rep, heavy weight workout.....but I did it more as a heavy weighted workout in sets of around 8 reps with rests in between. I don't know how you are expected to do heavy weight and high reps. Hilights of this workout were the glute work (bridge work on the floor) and glute lifts. It really got the glutes and it had some rather unique stabilization/core exercieses at the end. I think my injury pain is flared from all of the pushups in it.

I also did Iyengar Yoga with Lynn Watkins - Seated Forward Bends & Twisting segment 28" and Inversions 20".

I don't understand why the market is so flooded with high rep workouts. It's hard to find a low rep, heavy weight workout....so I usually just make workouts into one!

I guess with the Amy's and Tracey's pending ....I should hold off on starting a new rotation.

Hi ladies! Peeking in at lunch today! Sorry I did not get back yesterday to post my WO. I did RTTC shoulders X 2 followed by 100 shoulder presses while steping up and down on the step. I did not have cardio or abs on the schedule for the day, but I thought I would try to learn the WU and 1st combo (plus a smidge of the 2nd) of Rhythmic Step. It was pretty fun but man does it get complex quickly! It will take me a few times to get this one, but it was motivating enough to want to try. I also thought it may help me learn the new choreography. My right shoulder started hurting yesterday but seems to be doing better today. My knee is still twingy and I have no idea what that's about.

Lora-Yah, I know what you mean about the high rep, low weight workouts-they are everywhere! I am sure it is because they think women don't generally like that kind of workout.

Gotta run! Hope everyone is doing well...it's getting quiet around here again! I will BBL to report this evening's WO.

Good afternoon everyone!

I haven't been around for a few days but I had a great time shopping on Friday & Saturday. Yesterday was a nice, relaxing day with my DH for a change so that was nice too.

This week, I started a rotation using Cathe's new ones but I decided to do them "backwards" so I started with KB plus Legs/Abs. Tomorrow will be BC, Wednesday will be LIS, Thursday HIS, & Friday will be yoga. I'm trying to give myself some extra time to learn all the moves in the new step routines. My other 2 yoga DVDs (Yoga Shakti & Yoga Dance Fusion) arrived while I was out on Friday & I also ordered BBC (thanks to a bunch of enablers on here - LOL) last night so they it should be here by the end of next week too. That on top of Christmas shopping means I REALLY need to lock up my credit cards now! Anyway, I plan to stick with the Cathe rotation for a couple of weeks & then hopefully start one with BBC.

Lora - That workout sound interesting. I like Gin & enjoy her bubbly personality but I have also been focusing on lower rep, heavier weights lately. Have you started your new job yet? Just wondering how it's going & what you think of it?

Jen - Glad you got back to exercising again but it sounds like your body just needed a bit of a rest for a couple of days so it's good you went ahead & took it. Glad to hear Lenny is still doing so well too. Did you try that Jillian kickboxing workout? If so, what did you think? I don't have that one...

Yve - I hope you're sinuses & allergies are feeling all better by now & I hope you've been able to make it to yoga & pilates class too.

Christine - Hi if you pop in later! You've talked so much about Yoga for Happiness that I'm really looking forward to trying it out soon... probably this Friday.

Well, I better scoot for now but I'll try to check back in later on. Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi ladies! Back again. Tonight's WO was RTTC triceps-which was tricep push-ups and kickbacks (balancing in plank position) x 2 followed by an additional 100 reps with lighter weights. I then did the abs from an old Karen Voight VHS and followed that with Jillian Michaels Kickbox. It was tough, but wasn't as tough as I thought. I liked it because it did the job in a short period of time. It's a good time crunch workout. It was not super motivating for me, so I can't see doing it more than once a week, but I like that the exercises were easy to follow...it's a good break from step choreography! :)

Lora-Oops I boo boo'd on my earlier post. I meant to say that they think that most women don't want to lift heavy with low reps--this the lack of other instructors doing those types of workouts. (Yea for Cathe, right!) That Jillian workout was pretty tough for 25 mins, I can't imagine doing a hour of that stuff every day. I might still buy her book, but sticking to a rotation of that.....I am not sure I would be up for it.

Kel-Wooo hooo about the BBC!! :) :) We'll have to do a rotation together (and Lora, too) since we all have it...so we can all suffer at the same time. I am glad you had fun shopping...I can smell the smoke coming off of your credit cards all the way in Georgia-ha ha! :) Put those things out, would ya'! :p It's also nice that you had some quality, RELAXING time with your DH. You guys have been working so hard! Glad you took a break!

Have a great night ladies! Hi to Yve if you check in later! :)

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all doing well.
Have had a busy few days - and very tired as a result.

This weekend I went to Ashtanga on Saturday - and pilates on Sunday morning. Tonight was Gentle Hatha.

Will catch up with you in the morning....

The heat isn't working in our condo - and the repair person can't come to fix it till tomorrow.... I've been boo hooing all evening...
Its dang cold tonight!!! We had frost this morning.

Have a nice evening.
Yve
