Trying To Fit Yoga In for Monday Oct 15

Morning Ledies -

I overslept again today. Still having trouble getting out of bed in the AM. Didn't get up until 4 am! I did y M&F for Her - Time To Burn Fat - Day one workout. I hit the heavy bag so hard and it felt so good to get that frustration out..however, I felt some twinges of pain in my shoulder on the one side that's flaring with pain. I used ankle weights and dumbbells for the ab work. For the cardio bursts, I did football running and high knees on the Rebounder, Speed Skaters, Gliding and Speed Skaters with the gliding discs. Tunes were Flyleaf & Papa Roach. Papa Roach is such great workout music and I was in the middle of the CD when my workout was over and I didn't want to stop!! LOL. Cathe should use some P Roach in her next series!! LOL!!! Workout was 71 minutes and I burned 565 calories. I then did Slim & Sleek Pilates - Ab segment with band 10" and the Stretch segment 10".

Finished off with Ravi & Ana's Yoga Quick Fixes - So Long Sciatica 7" and Inflammation 6", as well as AM Yoga with Barbara Benagh - Wake Up and Get Going Segment 15". The latter had some wonderful upper back and shoulder opening that felt good and it's filmed on my favorite beach for yoga...........Half Moon Bay in Antigua. So gorgeous. I've been craving beach scenery workouts since I've been struggling with this depression.

Speaking of beach scenery......what exercise DVDs does everyone know of that has them? I'm always in the market for them....especially since my depression is acting up.

Christine - Spinning is a great workout....good for an intense one without the impact. That is one good thing that came out of me fracturing my foot......I discovered Spinning! Good going on the marathon! The guy's shirt is funny!

Yve - so sorry you caught a cold. I hate when I get them, as they always go into a sinus infection for me. I bought some oils...but not nearly as much as I would have liked to. I hope I get a job soon so I can place another order before the update is taken down.

Jen - I never heard of Fast & Firm. You said that was a Firm workout, right? I thought I owned every Firm workout....but maybe I don't. Re: that 10 minute Solutions workout - yes, it was good....but not killer. I think there may be a learning curve with it....as the band popped off my feet a few times and some of the moves were so different. I might add ankle weights in the future when she changes and puts the band behind your shoulds for the end of the workout. It would be better if it was longer, but I guess you can always do it twice through. It's comparable to a Reformer workout. Speaking of Reformers, I really have to get my lazy butt moving and figure out how to put that Power Cord on my Reformer! Does NetFlix have any Classical Stretch DVDs? If so, you should try one. I know you like cross training and Miranda does an excellent job of stretching you and for some reason when she does leg work and ab work, I'm able to feel it more than in other DVDs. It's something about her instruction and positioning that does it, I think.

Have a great day everyone.

Forgot to mention........I was livid while doing my job search yesterday. The temp agency I'm signed up with had a huge ad saying they need Secretaries/Receptionists!! Why didn't they place me yet then?? I have to call them.

Morning All!

I did CTX Chest, Power Circuit abs (no plank work) and Yoga for Happiness, Magically Hips, today. Perfect for after the race. I'm feeling much better and can walk well today - just a little sore, but not bad at all.

Lora - Sorry to hear about the temp agency. Sometimes those places just like to have LOTs of resumes on hand - not necessarily because they have jobs lined up. When I was looking I applied to many temp agencies. And YES I love spinning and cycling in general. What a good killer workout.

I know many of the Rodney Yee's have beach scenes. Power Yoga total body does for sure, as does Yoga for Athletes.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Christine- How long ago were you signed up with Temp Agencies? How many did you sign up with? How long did it take for them to place you? I really dread signing up with more....cuz the testing is 3.5 hours. I hate that!!

Lora - I think I signed up with 4 or 5 of them. Not all agencies tested like that - I think a few were shorter. But I figured that I had not much else to do, so I did it. Not fun, though. I got called, but mainly I did bug them a lot, honestly. You might also consider holiday work - it's getting to be that time - so you can at least work part time. You don't have to stay for the full season, but it brings in a pay check.

Christine - I tried to get seasonal work at 3 places already and interviewed at 2 of them. Even had a second interview at one of them, but I have only worked in retail once when I was 18-19 and I'm now 48........so I don't know why they won't hire me. I'm so frustrated. I even applied at Walgreen's, PetsMart and the grocery store with no luck. I'm thinking I might have to try McDonalds soon. If they won't hire me, I must really be defective or something.

Lora!! You are SOOOO NOT defective! People probably look at you with your poise and elegance and then at your resume and think that you're over qualified. I HATE that word. I cannot tell you how many times I've been told I'm overqualified - or I simply do not hear at all from them. And, it's a weird market place right now - it's all in who you know, not what you know. Do you have friends who work for good companies who would be willing to pass on your resume? Keep sending them out. You'll get something! I know you will!

Hi ladies! Tonight's WO was Slim & Lean Chest twice through with 100 chest presses added on. I then did the Washboard Abs segment from 10 min solution kickbox and for cardio, IMAX 3 but just the first 25 minutes (including blasts-but on the floor). I really love the shorter step combos! They are so much fun! :) I was on day 2 of biceps DOMS and day 1 of glute DOMS-painful day! So did anyone preorder on the first day? I preordered several weeks in, so I don't know if I will have my DVDs this week or not.

Lora-I liked The Firm LB sculpt, so I looked on Netflix to see if there were more like it. I think this series was done just after they changed up their production studio and instructors (circa 2002). There is a complete series of Fast and Firm workouts-LB, UB, abs, cardio, etc. Looks like it was a series of 4 or 5 DVDs. The instructor for the LB DVD is Lisa Kay. It's a 35 min workout that is short & sweet and to the point. I am going to send it back to Netflix tomorrow so I can move along with the other DVDs but I will rent it again and would consider purchasing it in the future. I will check Netflix to see if they have any Classical Stretch. I am thinking they don't, but when I have searched they have pleasantly surprised me before so maybe I will get lucky.

Christine-Glad to hear that your run went well! Congrats on improving your time, too-what an accomplishment! I read the article you posted on the OD board regarding running and fitness after 40. Very interesting and inspiring reading!

Hi to Kel and Yve if you get the chance to check-in today!
