Trying to Fit Yoga in for Monday Aug 13

Morning Ladies -

This morning I did The Firm Cardio Overdrive and then I ended up adding on the weight segments from The Firm Burn & Shape (cuz Cardio Overdrive didn't have enough in it.....and I shoulda know from the title). Workout was 1 hour and 20 minutes and I burned 448 calories. I also did Ravi & Ana's Dr. Yoga HouseCall...Back Pain Relief 11".

I've got to run down the street later to fill out an application for a job that was in the paper yesterday. There are always a few in the paper, but I'm just not getting any of them. So freakin' frustrating!!

I'm taking Mom for cataract surgery later this morning and I've got to call the Temp Agency to see about signing up, as much as I don't want to. I just wish I'd get a job already!

Kel - good to see you. I'm glad you're healing up okay. I've been wondering how you are. That's good that you're liking that day of Pilates, etc. you added in. I always say I'm going to do that....but I need to lose weight first! so.......it never happens....cuz the weight never goes!

Jen - what did you guys decide to do for your dog? Are you just gonna ride it out or is there something the doctors can do to help? I don't know which is worse......when the doctors give you false hope that your pet might be okay or when you just have to accept that they'll be leaving you. I know with Pandora, it was a rollercoaster cuz we had that glimpse of hope with the experimental drug and then it didn't work at all. Hang in there. My prayers are with you. I hope you can get in a good workout soon and hopefully that will help you deal with the stressful situation you are dealing with right now .....at least they usually help me.

Have a great day ladies.

Hi ladies!

This morning, I did Boot Camp & had a great workout! I doubled a few of the cardio sections & also added on a couple of weight sections for those muscle groups I don't feel are represented enough in this workout (chest, for one). Afterward, I stretched a little longer & ended up late for work. Oh well. Like I've said before, some of my co-workers take extra long lunches to fit their workouts in & I take my extra time in the mornings. What's the difference, right? Next week is a short one for me (only 2 days because we'll be heading out to enjoy some Nascar racing over a much needed, long weekend) so I'm planning to do the HST cardio & upper body premix one day, adding abs from another workout, & the HST cardio & lower body premix the next day, also adding abs from another workout. Then, I'll do a short yoga routine on Wednesday before we leave, if I have the time.

Lora - Great workout! I hope everything goes well with your mom's cataract surgery. Seems as if those are pretty routine anymore so I'm sure everything will go just fine. Thanks for the warm welcome back. I know what you mean about that extra day just for stretching but it seems to be affecting my body & mind so positively right now that I'm really glad I decided to do it.

Jen - I'm thinking about you & your doggie, Lenny. I'm so sorry that you're going through that & like Lora said, I hope you can fit a nice workout in soon. That always seems to make me feel a little better, no matter what's going on in my life. Please just know that we're here if you need to talk.

Well, I need to keep this one sort of short because I've got to run out to the jobsite & help with the sign installation a bit today... in the extreme heat & humidity - LOL! I'll try to pop back in later if I can. Hope you ladies have a great day. Take care!

Kel - sounds like you got a good workout in. If you're enjoying the stretching so much.....I think you should check out the Classical Stretch series of DVDs. I really enjoy doing them on my rest days or in the evenings and some of them have lower body/ab work in them and the instructor gets into places in your body that even yoga doesn't touch. She's also expert and getting you to feel the burn in your abs and legs/butt. It's something about the positioning! I really really enjoy this series. www.ClassicalStretch.com and a few of them are sold on Ebay for cheap. You can also check out what people are saying about the series on Videofitness.com....as there is a long thread and everyone seems to like them. They are especially helpful for people who sit at desks all day and need upper back and back relief.

Jen - I went to fill out that application at the local, large and established Baking Company in town (rather large ...afilliated with Dolly Madison). I got called from HR today and I have to go in to take 9 tests tomorrow!! YOY!! I'm nervous. Anyway, the job is Clerical Assistant in Human Resources for the company and has good benefits, hours, pay and is right down the street. What tips can you give me on impressing HR peeps????? Help please!!

Hi ladies! No workout for me again. We are feeding Lenny boiled chicken and rice (vet recommended to get him to eat something) so DH & I are cooking two dinners at night. We cooked a lot of extra food tonight, so hopefully I can get back to my workouts by tomorrow night. The earliest the Specialist can see him is next Tue, so we won't know anything more until then. Lenny seemed to be doing well today, eating and energy-wise. My DH gets home before I do so I told him to call me as soon as he got home to let me know that Lenny was okay. It kills me to think that way now. I am so worried about him passing away or something else happening while we are not there.

Lora-That HR job sounds really good! :) I would say that the best way to impress them would be to be supportive of the company's rules and policies (including those of your prior employers). Minimize any differences you had with Management or a Manager-unless there is something that you learned from the situation and would do differently on your end. Try to see the company's point of view, instead of just looking at it from the employee's point of view. I would also place emphasis on your ability to keep information confidential and why that is important. Hope that helps! Wow, you have to take 7 tests! That is really amazing. There are some larger companies that really get into that stuff. We don't do that, but probably should start.

Kel-Have fun at your Nascar event! My dad used to race motorcycles, so I can relate to the thrill of the race! ;) Sounds like you are getting some great WOs in. I am so jealous of your once a week pilates/yoga etc. plan. I kept saying I would do that too, but I let my weight be the determining factor in that decision, so it just doesn't happen. I am glad you have recovered well from your injuries! What was your longest gap in exercise? Did you really notice a big difference once you started doing full workouts again? I think as long as we always get back to it-the declines we worry so much about are not as bad as we make them out to be.

Have a great night everyone! Thanks so much for all your kind words and support-it makes me feel better! (My shoulders actually dropped (relaxed) away from my neck as I was typing this post.) :)

Jen
