Trying to Fit Yoga in for Mon April 2

Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning I did Barry's Arms & Abs and the non-treadmill cardio - modifying some of it on the rebounder (sciatica flaring). I popped in Sharon's new CIA workout and did a cardio section but I was pretty fried at that point, so I skipped to the cooldown and stretch. Workout was 70" long and I burned 350 calories.

I had a hard time getting thru this workout today. I don't know why, but my whole body was feeling fatigued and I couldn't even get my HR up that high for the cardio. Don't quite know why I'm like this. Doesn't make sense, as I haven't lifted since Friday. Actually, Friday's Total Body workout is doing all body weight exercises (which I did) and per my doctor, I'm not really supposed to do body weight exercises like tricep dips and pushups, but I usually do them, only not in the quantity we did them on Friday! My pain from my injury is flaring horribly from that workout. I was miserable all weekend and now today's workout had more pushups and tricep dips, as well as Mountain Climbers and of course, I did them! I guess I'm hard headed.

Jen - I think Cathe even says that your motivation will start to decline towards the end of a S&H rotation ......I guess due to the amount of concentration needed. Yes, the CIAs are good. I really really love the music and most of the workouts so far. I liked last year's batch also, but this year's better.

Yve - sorry to hear you are sick. That really stinks. I hope you feel better soon.

Have a great day ladies. I'll be around later.

Hi ladies! Tonight's WOs were S&H Back, BMax 2 Back, Low Impact Step and the Abs portion of Low Impact Step, repeating exercises twice. I really enjoyed this WO and had good energy tonight. I actually got home at a decent time! :) I am sure that helped my mood tremendously! Tomorrow is my last day of work for the week then I have three vacation days. It's DH's birthday on Friday. We'll be at home (painting of course) but plan to work in some fun stuff, too.

Lora-Sorry to hear your body was giving you such fits this weekend. That's tough when your mind is willing but the body is...well...pooped! The body fatigue is probably a good sign in terms of the progress you are making...really challenging the body...but I'd be careful not to push it too hard. Is there a way you could cut back to 5 days (stop laughing!!!!!! :) ) a week while you are working at this intensity?

Yve-Hope you are feeling better! Did SO take good care of you or did he catch the bug, too? I can't believe you have Slow & Heavy but haven't tried it! It's one of my favorite weight WOs. It's tough but gets good results. It would be a really, really big change from yoga and pilates so I would be careful with it. How happy you would be with the series would probably depend on the results you are looking for. I really like to lift heavy and would like to be muscular (in a strong but feminine way) like Cathe is. They say ladies don't bulk up but I still see many people on the forums comment about lowering their weights since they feel they are getting too bulky. I look pretty bulky right now, but I think it's from my fat layer more so than using heavy weights. Next rotation I am going to try more cardio and endurance to lean out a bit more. I really like the muscle mass achieved w/ Slow & Heavy but I can see why some people would not like it as much.

Hi ladies,

Today - I just went for an hour walk at lunch time. Still feeling a bit weak - but much better than the weekend.

Lora - I am sorry that your sciatica is acting up - that is so painful. Do you think that the roller might help a bit? I hope that it eases soon.

Jen - Its wonderful that you have some vacation time. Also nice that you have some fun things planned with DH. Thanks for the review of S&H. You have done really well in the last year ( I remember your updates). I really need to build some muscle - and I don't build it easily - Weights have a huge dread factor for me.... but I am trying.

I bought some Extra Sleepytime tea today.... it is a souped up version of the original.....crossing my fingers it will work.

Have a good night.

Yve
