Trying to do it "just like Cathe"

I just finished doing Circuit Max (love that video!), and during the "plunge lunge" step segment, I noticed how Cathe was just about kicking herself in the butt with the foot of her plunging leg!!! And then I noticed that MY plunging foot was barely coming off the step. From that point on, (which luckily was already pretty close to the end of the tape!:)), I tried to do everything just like Cathe. Ever notice how her knees are ALWAYS high?? Her kicks are ALWAYS way up there? On her static lunges, her back knee almost "grazes the floor" every time? On the hi/lo segment "2 knees, knee up & over" business, her arms are way up high instead of floundering around at shoulder level like mine. Heck, she's kicking herself in the butt even on the ol' "heel-toe-diagonal hop" over the board thing!!! I usually never pay attention to these "non-essential details" of many of Cathe's moves. If I can just "get thru her workouts", I'm happy. But I think I'll try to kick myself in the butt (use more of a full ROM) from now on!! Anyone else have any other "do it like Cathe" details you'd care to share?? If not, just ignore me, I'm feeling kinda silly on a quiet Saturday morning.

Hey Deb!

Don't forget about the SPRINGS Cathe has on her feet on the 2nd. interval in IMax!:-jumpy (Those reach jumps and circle jumps!) Boy, those things can make a person's heart beat just watching her. I'm like you, I am TRYING to look like Cathe doing exactly what she does, but it doesn't look the same coming back at me from my mirror!!! RE: kicking yourself in the butt, I was doing that in my live class one day and totally fell on my behind because I wasn't paying attention to the choreography. What a geek. :-rollen
 
You are sure right about all those jumps! How does she do it and still talk and smile. Believe me I am not smiling, it is probably more a grimice (sp ?)

I know she says everyone has different form when doing the punches in the CTX, Cardio kicks tapes. I keep trying to look like her and it isn't coming very easily. I think she says to bring your arm back to your rib cage and out, but when we go to the 100% portion my arm is barely getting back to the rib cage just to keep up wtih her. I am knew at the kickbox so hopefully the form will get better with time.

It will be fun to read everyones responses. Thanks for the thread. :)

I know I will never resemble Cathe on any of her moves. She is so light on her feet and bouncy. I am 5'9" and not very quick on my feet. I just try to have the best form that I can. I would literally have to put springs in my shoes in order to jump like Cathe. She must be part rabbit!!! I'm more like a lumbering elephant!

As far as the punches go, I am not like her either but I can just about keep up with her speed wise. All our body types are not going to always be like Cathe, therefore we will not be able to move just like Cathe but we can try to attain that good strong, bouncy movement that she has!! My height surely does not stop me from trying!!

And believe me Lynn I am not smiling during Cardio Kicks or Interval Max and many others! I have to save all my energy to make it through the workout. I have fun anyway.
