trouble getting back on track after t-giving???

Is anyone else having this problem??? I let myself have some bad sweets for thanksgiving and now I'm craving them!! Also, with it being holiday time--there is cake and bad stuff everywhere around me and it's so hard to resist b/c of the cravings!!!! I also got off my workout routine b/c family was in town and since then there's been decorating and shopping and so much to do that my whole routine is off!!! My brother and some other family will be here in town for xmas on the 17th and my goal is to start today and do really well at least until then. My plan is to start South Beach on Jan 2, but I would like to at least keep myself healthy until then!!!! It's sooooo hard with everyone pulling me in different directions and shoving chocolate cake in my face!}( (like this morning at work!) I think that I'll just concentrate on a lot of cardio starting today to maximize my calorie-burning. I don't know what else to do!!!!

good choice... south beach! very healthy way of eating! i've been eating healthy (south beach) since january 16... coming up on my year anniversary!

as for getting back on track after t-day... no problem for me.. i did eat 3 pieces of pumpkin pie in t-day :9 and loved every bit of it! had my one day of gravy and stuffing (and pie) and the next day was back to my normal eating habits! i allowed myself one day with all the goodies! hubby finished off the good stuff and i threw away the last piece of pie over the weekend!

i have a suggestion.. since you work outside the home.. start south beach on a saturday morning... the first 2-3 days of phase one are the hardest and are much easier (IMO) to handle at home vice at the office! i started on a 3 day weekend and by tuesday was ready to be at work with my new way of eating!

after a while they'll stop shoving the stuff at you (after they see you are serious about not eating it!) and it will become easier for you to turn it down! keep legal snacks around for those times so that you have something to fall back on (i.e. laughing cow cheese YUM!; sugar free candies; sugar free jellos.. those are lifesaves in phase one and the first few weeks of phase 2!)

good luck!!!!!!!!

I'm just getting back to normal now. I know what you mean, sometimes a few lapses just lead to more lapses. For me, it's important to stay away from sweet foods because they become addictive. I can never have just one piece of cake, I have to have the whole damn cake! I love wine, but it can throw me off track too. And being with my relatives usually causes decreased self-esteem which leads to more bad eating. I think I'm going to be okay now, though, because, thank goodness, we don't celebrate Christmas! I don't plan to see my family again, if I can help it, till next year!! :D

Wishing you luck,
Nancy

I just finished the south beach diet book and I'm looking forward to starting it. It's pretty much already the way that I eat, but I suffer from sugar cravings and do eat quite a bit of fruit so I want to go throught the first 2 phases to cut the cravings. I am kind of panicked b/c I don't eat cheese! I noticed that all of the snacks and most of the meals include some type of cheese. What could I substitute? I just don't like it--never have!!! Maybe I'll post another topic in this forum for those who have done south beach and what they would recommend as a substitute.:)

A little bit. Especially since my sister and her family were in town and we did some meals together. And I was off work for 3 extra days - and that's where I'm really good about having a healthy lunch. I've been slacking on the veggies.

I started getting really good again this week, but...we're going out for chicken wings tonight. Ooops! It's a family thing...
