Trevor,

Just wondering...how much weight/muscle have you gained? If i remember seeing your picture once you looked very slim, so i was wondering, if you've gained any weight/muscle since? If so, how much? Is your bodyfat still low? What workout do you follow? Nutrition?

And what about that spinning? Is it, was it a fad, does it work, how far, how much? :D
Did you do the P90X workout?

Well, let's see. I went from 6 feet and 167 pounds to my present 6 feet and about 190 pounds now.
I've definitely gained muscle as my thighs and butt have pushed me into another size of jeans. LOL!! I wear 32/32 jeans. I have gained some pretty good definition all over, in particular the quads, tris, and shoulders. I'm still working on my 6 pack abs...LOL!! It's about a 3 pack right now.
I don't know my bodyfat percentage but it's in a good range, I think. And I think most of my weight gain is muscle.
I use supersetting for my weight work and work those ranges you've seen me post here before that work the different muscle fibers. My cardio is mostly very high intensity intervals.
I am a firm believer in changing things up quite often, the lifting every 6-8 weeks, and the cardio virtually every time I do it. And I believe in moving the HR around alot and really never getting too comfortable during a session.
As for nutrition, I try to follow 40-30-30 for carbs-fat-protein. Other than that I don't really eat strictly clean. I will catch myself when I snack though. For instance, if I get the urge for some chips, I will grab an apple instead. I do eat what I want in moderation.
I do some weird stuff at times. I use mouthwash before workouts because it makes me feel refreshed and ready to go, almost like a high. I know, weird. It was a tip I saw in a magazine once. I also try to toughen myself mentally by actually taking something bad to eat, like chips, opening the bag, smelling the aroma of the chips, then making myself walk away from them without eating them. After awhile I can withstand the urges to feed on junk. During cardios, I will blow myself up, then ADD 10 mins. BEYOND what I'd initially planned on doing just to force myself to do it. Three quarters of the stuff we do in life is all in your head, in my opinion, and so if it toughens me mentally to stay on target for a goal, I will try it. And so, alot of my cardios are not fun times, LOL!!! But, I like it that way and it makes my "fun" cardio days all the more fun to do and look forward to doing.
Anyway, hope that answers some of your questions.

Hey Wanda,
Spinning is here to stay I think. It's a great cardio, basically interval, workout. The class I do is about an hour long. We don't track the mileage. The bikes have numberless tension knobs on them and the "gearing" is all in your head. For instance, you learn to understand what a "5" gear is to you individually when the instructor says "put it up to about a 5". Your "5" is different from another person's "5". We spend alot of time "running" out of the saddle. Or doing jumps on and off the saddle. This stuff will give you biker thighs for sure.
Alot of it is visual. The room is dark except for a few spotlights and the music is up high. I often close my eyes and visualize myself in a line on a bike team in a road race.
I do this class every other week as I have found that I just cannot keep my hard-earned bodyweight up if I do that class every week.
I've used my mountain biking experience to full advantage in that class, as far as saddle positions go. You learn by doing and it's quite simple to master. So....go do it!!!
Never tried the P90X, but others here seem to like it.
Hope that helps some! :)

Wow, Trevor, sounds like you've got the formula down-pat! What you're doing sounds like it's working perfectly for you! :) I don't think that mouthwash thing is so weird...actually makes a lot of sense to me, lol...I like the whole game thing you play with yourself of opening the bag of potato chips, smelling them, then walking away, etc., lol...good to build up that mental toughness!! :)

Wow Trevor, thats impressive.

I MUST try the mouthwash trick. Ive heard that a fresh mouth or just cleaned teeth also helps.

As for the bag of chips!!! - my will power means I will open the bag of potato chips - smell them - eat half - then walk away. Beleive me! THATS my mental toughness

:)

RE: PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

LOL!!! That's funny! If I can get myself a good fake tan at some point I might do some and either email to you or put them on webshots. I have ZERO tan right now.

WOAH! Way too much information there, Trev!

I don't care how lilly white your @ss is! I want to see how much bigger you look--last time you shared pictures you were a twig!!! 197 must look AWESOME on you!

RE: PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

I'll see what I can do. LOL!! Might take a few weeks though. I have to take them myself. I think everyone in here should have to do some pics if I do mine!! LOL!!

RE: PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

You don't want mine--I haven't worked out in more than 8 months. All the hard earned gains I had last year are GONE GONE GONE!!!

RE: PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

FFG, I remember that you were the first one that ever replied to any of my posts. You hold a special place in my heart for that. So, I have to ask, why haven't you been working out in 8 months? Did you get sick? I'm sure that you will get right back at it though. You were looking fantastic the last time I saw your picture. I'm sure you can get there again.
Trevor you are such an inspiration, wow! Ok, so I really need to do IMAX 2 and get out of my comfort zone then this afternoon. Damn you! I was really enjoying being comfortable! LOL!

Kathy

RE: PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES

Hey Kathy,

I didn't get sick, phyisically. Just sick of working out. I was completely fried on Cathe & wasn't getting results "going it alone." I just quit. I'm heavier today than I have been in almost 10 years.

I have just started working out again this past weekend. It's been a struggle to get motivated again. I only did 15 minutes of cardio on Saturday, but did the cardio segment from CTX Power Circuit on Sunday. Yesterday I did ALL of MIS & let me tell you MY BUTT IS KILLING ME!!!

Thanks for asking about me.

Deborah!

Great to see you back. Hang in there and take it nice & slow. I, too, have had a change in my physique due to an injury and I am slowly coming back. It feels sooo good to be back at it. Good Luck to you.
