Well, let's see. I went from 6 feet and 167 pounds to my present 6 feet and about 190 pounds now.
I've definitely gained muscle as my thighs and butt have pushed me into another size of jeans. LOL!! I wear 32/32 jeans. I have gained some pretty good definition all over, in particular the quads, tris, and shoulders. I'm still working on my 6 pack abs...LOL!! It's about a 3 pack right now.
I don't know my bodyfat percentage but it's in a good range, I think. And I think most of my weight gain is muscle.
I use supersetting for my weight work and work those ranges you've seen me post here before that work the different muscle fibers. My cardio is mostly very high intensity intervals.
I am a firm believer in changing things up quite often, the lifting every 6-8 weeks, and the cardio virtually every time I do it. And I believe in moving the HR around alot and really never getting too comfortable during a session.
As for nutrition, I try to follow 40-30-30 for carbs-fat-protein. Other than that I don't really eat strictly clean. I will catch myself when I snack though. For instance, if I get the urge for some chips, I will grab an apple instead. I do eat what I want in moderation.
I do some weird stuff at times. I use mouthwash before workouts because it makes me feel refreshed and ready to go, almost like a high. I know, weird. It was a tip I saw in a magazine once. I also try to toughen myself mentally by actually taking something bad to eat, like chips, opening the bag, smelling the aroma of the chips, then making myself walk away from them without eating them. After awhile I can withstand the urges to feed on junk. During cardios, I will blow myself up, then ADD 10 mins. BEYOND what I'd initially planned on doing just to force myself to do it. Three quarters of the stuff we do in life is all in your head, in my opinion, and so if it toughens me mentally to stay on target for a goal, I will try it. And so, alot of my cardios are not fun times, LOL!!! But, I like it that way and it makes my "fun" cardio days all the more fun to do and look forward to doing.
Anyway, hope that answers some of your questions.
T.
