Travelocity vs. Expedia.com: is one better?

Greetings, Cathletes -

I find I am going to have to book a trip on short notice in the next 5-7 days, and I really don't have it in me to fart around with individual vendors for plane tickets, motel / hotel and car.

Do any of you have any opinions if Travelocity is better than Expedia.com for prices and good service etc.?

I am looking to economize as much as possible so competitive pricing would help drive my decision, but the most important thing is hitting my destination RELIABLY AND ON TIME (hello, airlines).

I've used Expedia quite a few times. You can check everyone's rates on Kayak.com.

I use Expedia all the time too. Have you checked TripAdvisor? They usually tap into all the different travel sites for what you want and spit out price comparisons so you can choose from who has the best deals.

Use bookingbuddy.com and you can check all of them!

Truthfully, I've always found that when I find a good airfare on one of the sites (Expedia, Travelocity, etc.), I then go directly to the airline to book it and get a better rate.

Bookingbuddy is a good one to use for searching though!

Personally, I like Expedia. There website is very easy to navigate and I've never had an issue with them. As for "reliable and on-time" flight...good luck IIRC, you live in the Twin Cities area; I'd put my money on Sun Country or Delta(or whoever it is that took over Northwest) for on time. The "rule the school" at the 2 airports

@Upnorthchick: I think you're right about going with Delta for reliability. They did acquire Northwest Airlines (kind of like the Empire acquiring Darth Vader) but I've actually had decent flying experiences with them since. Crappy thing now though is that you have to go through Atlanta to get to Tallahassee, my destination for this trip. Used to have to go thru Memphis, which was much tamer. Ah well. What price monopolies, yes?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. When I book with one of the online travel companies, I tend to do better with Expedia. But frequently, I do book flight and hotel separately.

I know you're not up for doing much legwork, but my favorite places to start are Farecast (Bing), Trip Advisor (for hotel recs & info through user reviews and later for trip suggestions via user forums), and Expedia. I also check the individual airlines and hotels' sites as well as Hotwire, Travelocity, and Orbitz.
