"I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen."
-Frank Lloyd Wright

Two quotes to keep close this week. Hope and Hard Work. In the face of all the bad news – remember that there is far more good in the world than bad. Let's keep working toward our goals – visualize the things we want to see happen - hold our loved ones close - and be kind to those around us.

Today is "cardio" for me. Have a great week:D

Nice comments! Thanks for sharing such positive thoughts! I will keep thqm in mind this week. Today is Cardio Kicks for me & Abs!Make it a good day everyone!

May God always grant you a sunbeam to warm you... a moonbeam to charm you...& a sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you :)

Hi all. Fitdoc-Thought provoking as usual! I picked Vol#6 this AM for my start for my week. All I want to do these days are old Firm classics. I got such great results doing vols #1,2,3,4,5,and 6. Thought I'd try that rotaion again.

Hi to Gloria, Debbie, Juli, Robyn, Firmscorpio and others. Big wave to Otisan! Thought about you this weekend! Hope to hear from everyone later. Hugs...Janice

Great words to live by Fitdoc. Thanks for the inspiration.

Started my S&H 2 week rotation this morning. It has been awhile since I've done these tapes, I'm looking forward to them. Sick isn't it. I really need to get some heavier dumbells though.

Oldest DS is back at college after his spring break road trip to Key West/Miami. Whew! Did the cheap trip staying in hostels along the way so they could eat and sight see like kings. Time to buckle down again. Youngest DS got a scholarship to UGA. YAY! Came just in time, on the heels of an aggravating and always expensive fender bender.:( Kids sure make life interesting don't they?

Have a great night all.

Gloria

Kids make it "interesting" alright - but mostly exhausting;)

I actually did Volume 1 today. I'm shakin' things up a bit.:p

Hi All --

A quick post before I settle into my "second shift" for the night. I'm working on a proposal for a client so it's like working two shifts -- very stressful. But that's what exercise is for, right? It helps us deal with stress in a healthful way.

I plan to do a workout tonight but it can't be too long because I have to proof/edit the proposal. I'm thinking Karen Voight's Yoga Sculpt. only 45 minutes.

Fitdoc -- good words on hope. Hope DOES nourish us. The soul needs nourishment as much as the body does so that we can be whole people. Since my family of origin has so much negativity and depression, I actively work on programming my thoughts along positive paths. I focus on starting each day with quotations and readings that are spiritually uplifting and motivational. A well spirit creates a well body.

FS -- Where are you?!! Haven't seen many posts from you lately. I hope all is well.

Waves to Gloria, Janice, Otisan, Wild Pony, Bita, and all you other Inspirational Ladies!

Juli

Hey Guys,

Thanks for understanding my feelings. You guys are the greatest, really.

I got in a 7 mile run yesterday at a very slow pace. Today is PUB. Dh is taking a little break from work since he works in the Financial district in SF. We actually did some nice arena work outside today it felt good.

Debbie

Michelle- Your words this morning made me cry! Thanks for sharing. :) Oldest dd cried too.

Gloria- WTG with needing the heavier weights. Glad DS are back to “normal land” too.

Hi girls. DANG! Debbie! 7 miles???WOW! You rock! I coulndn't run 7 minutes! I did do Vol#5 this AM(Did #6 yesterday) Doing classics again. Still my favorites! Everyone in Vols 5 and 6 are so damn beautiful! Even the men. Sickening, isn't it?

Otisa-How're you honey? Bet you're getting skinny with those hard workouts!

Hi Gloria. Is your weather as gorgeous as here? 82 today so far. Perfect. I went out yesterday and walked for 20 minutes on my lunch hour. Might do that again today. Too nice to be working!

Hi Bita, Juli, Fitdoc, Debbie, Firmscorpio and others. Where is everybody this week??????......Janice

Hi all. I played tennis for almost 3 hours this morning and I'm pooped! I was playing against my old partner and our healthy competitiveness was in high gear. It was so much fun and a beautiful day for it. Janice, the temp. was 58 when we started and 82 when we finished. If there had been a cow around she would have used me as a salt lick. Anyway, I thought I'd get in a wo today but I don't have it in me now.

Debbie, great job on that 7 mile run. You're doing fabulous!

Juli, how wonderful you can fit in a wo with your busy schedule these days. It's that kind of commitmint that keeps us all on track.

Gloria

I'M HERE!!!;) I've been busy these past week.I have my cleanse class tonight.I'm doing pretty good. It's very, very hard. But,because i've done it before.I know what I'm in for.Been taking Gordy out for walks. It's finally spring here.My goals is to take him for a 1/2 walk every night if i have time.Don't want to miss the enjoyment of this beautiful weather.Workouts have been o.k.New month coming up with new goals.Ready to clamp down.

HI to all!!!

Hi Ladies -

Well, things didn't go as planned last night. I had planned to work out but my DH needed help on one of his projects so I did that instead. Made up for it tonight with Vol. 1. My DH does that one with me every week. He likes it because it's quick paced without being too "dancey".

Tonight's a "double shift" too. That's just how it is when we're developing proposals. Even with the work, we're right on track so things are going. I'll be review another draft tonight and getting the revisions in before I hit the sack.

Janice -- I agree with you, the Classics are great. I wish they were on DVD. My Vol. 1 is wearing out. The picture is fine but the sound fades in and out. What would I do without Susan's leg/butt floorwork?!!!

Gloria -- Tennis is a fantastic workout! My DH plays tennis and it sure keeps the weight down.

Gotta run. Waves to Bita, FS, Fitdoc, Otisan and bfg.

Juli

Good Evening Everyone! I did Boot Camp this afternoon – great workout!:D

WildPony – you are becoming a long distance runner. I don’t know how your knees hold up under the punishment you give them. Mine hurt after 2 miles.

Janice, I did Volume 1 yesterday in your honor!

Gloria, 3 hours of tennis! You go girl!

FS – glad you are out walking. I agree, if you can get your workout “outside” – it’s the best!

Juli – did your DH do “hips and ribs ooooh hips and ribs”?;)

Hi kids. Thanks, fitdoc. I DO feel honored. Every time I look at my signed copy from Susan-I smile. Today's torture was Vol#4. Yesterday #5. I'm on a roll now!

FD-What's Boot Camp like? I don't have that one. BUT-I can Fix that!

Hi to Debbie, glad you're back FS, Hi to Otisa,Juli, Gloria, and others. Have a great rest of the week all....Janice

Good Morning!

I struggled with Part 1 of the Wedding video this morning. This wasn't the day to add a riser to the step. I hate days when I just don't have my uumph. I'm afraid it may have something to do with eating too much sugar over the past couple of days. DS is selling chocolate and I caved.

Firmscorpio, tell us about your cleanse class. Sounds interesting.

Hi to all,

Gloria

Hi! Hope everyone is doing well, and is filled with peace within.

Monday, I did Mindy's Awsome Interval. (I was wrong, it didn't have the BOSU in this one. It was in her "Explode" tape). Tuesday, I did Cathe's S&H legs and Cory's Hips, thighs and calves tape.
Today I did Kari's ALC II.
Have to run.
Take care.
:)

Hi Everyone!

What a week it's been (hard to believe it's Wednesday). I did something to my shoulder on Monday and by the end of the day I was twisted into a knot. Being that this isn't normal for me, I went to the doctor. This clinic is a joke and I really should change primary care physicians, but I needed help. The doc du jour told me that the computer/desk at work is the root of my problems and then gave me some muscle relaxers & pain pills. I doubt that that's the real reason, but I'm feeling a little better today.

I haven't worked out since Sunday, but I think I can handle a light cardio workout tonight. I might go to the gym and do the elliptical machine and see how it goes.

Good to see all of you :) Gloria, congratulations on your DS getting a scholarship! That's wonderful news! Janice, glad to see you :D Wildpony, many coongratulations on your running 7 miles, I do see you in the marathon this year. Take it easy and the 26.2 miles are yours. Waves to Bita, Fitdoc, Juli, FS, Robyn and everyone else. Have a great day!

Hi Ladies --

I'm on break from Proposal development at the moment. My brain is fried. I've been at this since around 7 this am and will be working on it through the evening.

No matter what, I'm doing some kind of workout tonight, even if it's just yoga (which is very hard for me). Proposals are always stressful and exercise is my main stress managementment strategy.

DH went to Indianapolis to teach CRM for the next few days. Although I always miss him, that actually works to my advantage since this proposal will take over my life until Friday. Even though proposals are stressful, I love it because it means opportunity. I wish I had a proposal going out the door every week.

Hey, I saw something interesting on PBS. It was on a program called "1940s House" and it's about people who volunteer to live in a village in Britain as they did in the '40's when WWII was going on. Did you know that women were encouraged to do their "patriotic duty" and exercise and wear cosmetics to look good? Who would have believed?!!! The thinking behind this was to keep up the morale of the populace, especially the men who might be called, so women were supposed to look good. You should have seen some of the funny "exercises" they did at that time. No weights, of course. The thinking was the woman set the tone of the home and it was her duty to make things as comfortable and normal as possible. I had never even thought about it.

I hope everyone is doing well. Me, I'm just managing stress. Be Well!

Juli

Hi everybody! Just finished my evening rendition of Imax2 while watching American Idol. (It is a guilty pleasure}(. I didn’t watch a bit of it last year, but this year one of the nurses called me into the kitchen at work to watch the auditions. The horror of many of the voices was simply too much to resist. We record the show with Tivo and then watch the whole thing in about 15 minutes. So – not too much guilt!)

Janice, I really enjoy Boot Camp. I think you would too! (Bust out the $$$)

Gloria, I know exactly what you mean about days when we lack “oomph”. It makes it tough – but I still feel better after the workout – even if it was half a$$ed.;)

Bita, I need to look into some of the workouts you have. You always post such interesting workouts – a wide variety.

Otisan, sorry to hear about your shoulder. Perhaps with 48 hours rest, anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) it will feel better? If not, please do NOT lift weights until a physician “with a clue” examines your shoulder.

Juli, that was an interesting statement about the woman “setting the tone of the home”. I definitely feel that responsibility because I’m home more than my DH and my children usually “orbit” me for most of the day. Exercise, kindness, and food make a home pretty happy! Hope you de-stress and feel better tomorrow. (Don’t make me sing the “Annie” song . . . “THE SUN WILL COME OUT . . . TOMORROW . . . BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR THAT TOMORROW . . . THERE’LL BE SUN!”:D

Waves to our other challengers!:*

Just finished S&H L&S. Those rotator cuff exercises are tough. I felt much better working out today.

Otisan, sorry about your shoulder. Take it easy, you don't want to injure it even more.

Fitdoc, I'm an American Idol watcher too. I just love Clay. I think he has a wonderful voice and appears to be such a caring person too. My DH is a Rhoooooben fan. I think he's my second choice. Last night I had to keep switching between AI and the new Bachelor. He's a cutie.

Juli, your story about women setting the tone of the house reminded me of the last time I had jury duty. You have to state your name and occupation. Most people were employed somewhere but a few stated housewife as their occupation. I've always hated that term. I said homemaker and one of the ladies told me she would refer to herself as a homemaker instead of a housewife from now on. I know things run smoother for everyone in my house when I set the right tone. That doesn't always include make up though.

Gloria
