TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE 3/10-3/16

Happy Friday!

Did a quick treadmill run this morning. Not my favorite wo. But....I had to hurry because the delivery man will be here soon with my new furniture!!!! YAY After about 18 years you just get plain sick of the old stuff, no matter how many times it's recovered.

Otisan, I have the same problem with the t-bar. I keep having to back up and travel with it. I'm not sure what you mean about the bicep curls. I have PSBBA scheduled for tomorrow so I'll try to pay attention to that section.

Debbie, thanks for the new pyramid article. I noticed they took the sweets off the new one but added wine. Can you tell where my priorities are? How about a picture of Stoltz on your picture site? I really need to figure out how to post pictures.

Robyn, snow again? Things are beginning to bloom around here. I've got yellow pine pollen covering my front porch. The sneezy time of year has arrived.

Yes fitdoc I'll GLADLY send you the snow. At least it was only a couple of inches this time!

Gloria - nice warm weather... sounds great (minus the pollen).

Just did 10-10-10 so only kickbox left for the ctx series this week. Not sure if I'll do a 3rd week of it or powerhour rotation. I'm getting good results so may keep with ctx one more week!

Going to a get together with alot of folks from the company where I use to work tonight! Hope I'm up for it. This "between jobs" has actually been great - I've totally enjoyed the gift of time - working out a lot, reading a lot, time with kids, doing volunteer stuff (everything but $$), more church stuff. My son actually said I'm happier than when I was working sooo.... hopefully it will go ok - and folks wont be "You ARENT working"...

Sorry for rambling a bit! You guys are a great sounding board!

Debbie, Great news about the US findings.

Otisan, I don't know if you wanted help regarding T-bar and concentration curl, but I am going to give some pointers, which I hope they help.
Concentration curl: You can do this seated on a exercise bench or bend over. Feet are about two feet apart. Lets say you start with right biceps. So you position you right elbow on the right inner knee, palm facing up and away from the body, arm extended straight down. You curl your right arm upward so that the dumbell reaches almost to your chin, like you want to punch yourself in the chin. Keep the elbow on the inner knee all the time. I usually put my other hand on the working bicept to feel it working. If I lift heavy, I support myself with my oposite arm by positioning it on my thigh, or between the inner thigh and the working arm's elbow.
About the t-bar, you really don't have to use the t-bar if it's uncomfortable holding it still. You can use two dumbells, doing double-arm bent row (palms face down) and or double-arm reverse row (palms face up). If you need pointers on these two moves please let me know, I would love to help.

Soo happy it's Friday!! I won't use the acronym, though! :7

Last night I did PS L but only half of A. For some reason, I was ultra hungry and sapped for energy. I hate those kind of days! Thank g-d I was able to stay within my calorie range, but the workout was tough. I feel better today hunger-wise, so I hope I'll be better workout-wise. Tonight I'm thinking about combining CST & BBA and saving the cardio for tomorrow. That may have attributed to my ravenousness (is that a word?). Last thing I want is to be starving on the weekend :eek:

Hi All -- This week is ultra hectic, so it's another short post for me.

Fitdoc -- Welcome back! We missed you.

Debbie -- So happy to hear everything's ok with the cysts.

Robyn -- How did your reunion with the co-workers go?

My DH and I did 30 minutes of Vol. 1 this AM. Had to cut it short because today is the PAWS Auction for the animal shelter. Since they don't receive tax support, it's the major fundraiser of the year.

Juli - how did the auction go? That sounds great. I do my first real socializing with the cats on Tuesday :) Nice you and DH workout together.

Debbie - Great news!

Did Imax this am (know its not part of ctx but I LOVE it!) still have to do kickbox this afternoon.

Last night was alot of fun - I had to leave at 9 for my sons hockey game but was GREAT to see everyone. It was nice folks said I seemed happy and RELAXED! One person said I was actually talking slow enough so she could understand me! Its funny I'm doing things I've wanted to do for ages - feels good and know SOON the right job will come along too! So I'm really glad I went!
Hockey game tonight again - they are in a tournament - so my son has a GOOD excuse to relax and play PS2

Bita thank you very much for the concentration curl pointers. I just never knew where my ROM was coming from! As for the T-bars, I set up the distal end of the barbell against the wall and I'll use a towel for the handlebars a la Firmstrength. If that doesn't work, I'll try one of your suggestions. Thanks so much!

Last night ended up being a rest day, since I literally needed the rest. I went to bed at 8:30! This morning I did CST and all of Kari Anderson's Benchworks. Tomorrow I'm going to do the "new & improved" BBA and the floor aerobics of KA's Two the Max.

Today DF & I met and loved our new officiate (not the absent minded one!). He's a great little old man who was ordained as a priest, but is a non denominational pastor now. His calling has taken him on some wonderful journeys. Of all the pastors I've met, he seems to be more spiritual than religeous. Tonight I'm going to mom's to get my dress form and I'm starting my dress. Tomorrow we're checking out bands. Yes, progress is a beautiful thing!

Quick check-in. Rest days yesterday and today!:x

I worked through the night on Thursday and then on Friday went to the furniture store and bought a bunkbed/futon combination. Also two mattresses - one double, one single. Carted all this stuff into the house by myself (yay me)! Cleaned, removed junk and painted my oldest DS's bedroom. Assembled the bed and bought new bedding today (after more grocery shopping). DS's room looks so clean and nice.

My DH is retrieving my DS from the airport tonight while I do the late shift. He's home from Boston for a week. I'm excited!

I'm pooped! Only 10 more hours of the night shift to go!:p
 
Doesn't sound like you had a "rest" day today, Fitdoc! I'm happy to hear that DS is coming home. Are you converting his old bedroom into a guest room or just making it more habitable for him? Hope your night shift goes by nice & quick!

Quick Check in for me ladies. I just got finished with my 10K run I’m getting a little faster too. I went from my initial finish time of 1:22 min. to 1:17 today. I sure do love getting my running legs back .

Hi girls,

Another quick check in here. Yesterday was PSBBA. Otisan, I put the back of the barbell on a vinyl beanbag during t-bar rows and that kept it from slipping. I'm going to try the towel next time to help me get better range of motion. Today I did the cardio portion of BodyMax. One of these days I'm going to do the entire tape.

Debbie, I'm so happy to hear you are cyst free. Weird how those things come and go.

Fitdoc, have a great time with ds this week. How did he like his room? I moved my old den furniture into my son's room. It will stay there until he moves in to his new apt. next fall. What a mess. I just close the door.

Ok, off to church to plan the Easter Egg hunt with my middle schoolers.

Like FS, I'm doing the Self Challenge. I did it last year, too, but the biopsy thing sort of derailed me a bit. I still did 3 workouts a week, but more than that was beyond me. Hopefully, I'll be a better challenger this year. Today, the weather was absolutely beautiful and my DH and I did our cardio walk around Sharon Woods today.

Hi Everyone,

A quick check in. I did BBA & the floor aerobics from two the max. Thank you Bita & Gloria for your suggestions, it made ALL the difference! I propped the bar against the wall with a pillow as a buffer for T bars. It's a relief to not worry about the thing sliding so I was able to concentrate on the moves. Also those concentration curls were tough once I realized where to place my arm. I kept it perpendicular to my thigh and owieee! What a great feeling!

We also got a band today. They sounded great and have a vast assortment of songs. They are appropriately named "Band of Gold". It was a very productive weekend for wedding plans :)

Good Evening!

Did Boot Camp today! After 2 days off - it felt terrific!:D

DS is home! First thing he did was drag the drum set from the garage and bring it back down to the basement – DRUMS ALL DAY! Even the little kids bang on them. Oh well – I’ll move the set back to the garage next week;) I cannot believe how much his piano playing has improved. He sat down to play and I literally gasped when I heard him. At least we’re getting our money’s worth! LOL!

Otisan - WOW! It’s getting close! (I like the name “Band of Gold”) DS's room is more functional (and clean) now. It makes a great space for him when he visits – but because it is a futon bunk –it allows for more sleeping space when company comes into town.

Bita - I liked hearing your form pointers! WildPony meant to say “Please DON’T feel silly or stop sharing”! LOL!

Gloria – for whom do your middle schoolers plan the easter egg hunt? Other kids?

Juli – your walk sounds lovely!

SPRING is really coming!!! it's gonna be 50 today!!!! for us in MA that's a heat wave!

GUess I'll do a S&H rotation this week :) Did Legs and Shoulders yesterday.
