Trail Running Shoes

Could anyone provide some input on trail running shoes?

I am a neutral runner and love the Asics brand. I'm using the Cumulus 12 in a D width. I get knee pain with a stability shoe. Without a wider width, I get blisters on my instep just below the ball of my foot. It's hard to find a trail shoe for a neutral runner in a wide width.

Thanks,

Excellent thread, bump.

Yes, if you have any info on trail shoes please chime in--even if you can't address my personal running issues.

The Asics Gel-Kahana 4 comes in a D width but is a stability shoe. The Gel-Trail Attack 7 is one of the few neutral trail shoes but doesn't come in a wide width. I'm leaning toward the Trail Attack because I won't be using my trail shoes for long runs.

I put in some of your needs and it came up with 6 shoes that come in wide sizes and are neutral shoes, appropriate for trails...

ASICS Gel Nimbus (2 styles)
Nike Zoom Vomero (2 styles)
Mizuno Wave Creation
Saucony Progrid triumph

Oh! And I tried on a pair of Brooks Ghost this past weekend and almost bought them. They are light, neutral and come in wide sizes. The only reason I didn't get them is because I just don't need more shoes. They are on my short list for when I do need shoes.

I actually went from the cumulus 12 to the Brooks Ghost just recently. Just ran my last 2 races in them, quite happy with them.
