Hi educated crowd!
Was watching The Shopping Channel (TSC) on the weekend and they featured the Total Gym Ultra (rolling platform, pulleys, choice of incline, etc.) It comes with three videos. It's selling for $298 Canadian (plus $51 S & H + tax -- gag me -- we're actually looking at about $400 here! Oh dear, I just this very second realized this. Time to start saving my pennies in the Ms. Piggy jar!!). I must say, though, I'm very tempted. Has anyone out there tried this product, or others like it?
Before you answer, here's a brief background on my workout history. I'm an advanced exerciser, I've been working out steadily for approx. the last 3-4 years, 6 days per week, (Mon-Friday 2 times per day) and own, and workout to, pretty well all of Cathe's tapes. I am currently on CTX rotation but also take three 30-minute intense cardios plus two weight-training days at my gym. I work my body parts twice per week, trying to go as heavy as possible.
I am 5 ft tall and am unlikely to grow at age 47! I'm at the lower end of my weight range, but to my eyes, I'm a bit "stocky" in build. "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, Why can't I be a svelte 5'8 tall?". Anyhow, I'd like to lean out a bit (let's face it, ladies, I wanna "elongate"). Plus, I'm thick-waisted -- all my leftover fat seems to wanna stick there no matter what I do(drat!).
I don't want to replace my Cathe workouts, just enhance or "tweak" them. I've also been tempted by the Pilates machine (again on TSC) but the Total Gym Ultra seems to cover both angles -- stretching and weight training.
I am very wary about buying a machine that will take space in my tiny, one-bedroom basement apartment so I want to make sure The Total Gym Ultra is worth getting. A couple of years ago I bought an Inversion table (with Gravity Boots, no less!) and it's just sitting there in my bedroom blocking the view. You're supposed to hang inverted at least twice per day for about 15-30 minutes, but who has the time to just lie upside down doin' nuttin' (honey)?! Plus, I get seasick (ya go up, ya go down, ya go up, ya go down -- be still my stomach)!
Anyways, I'd really appreciate any feed-back about the Total Gym you can give me.
Oh ya, how easily does it fold up and wheel away? Can it actually slide under a bed?
Thanks, everyone!
