Too much??

Hi everyone!

I've been doing Cathe for over a year now, and LOVE her workouts. I have just been getting into working out with lower reps - higher weights. However, a friend of mine has asked me to work out with her to help her get motivated to get in shape. We've been doing the Slim Series tapes with Debbie Seiber. Very HIGH rep, low weight (5 pounds max) full-body workouts. I don't think these are necessarily easy tapes, and my friend is doing great, I'm very proud of her! But I'm missing my Cathe and my heavy weight lifting effort.

Do you think it it would be TOO much if after doing the Slim Series work out in the morning, I do one body part heavy weight work in the evening? I'm worried because then that body part won't necessarily get the rest it may need if I do the light-weight low-rep total body workout the next morning.

Is anyone familiar with the Slim Series tapes? What do you think?

Thanks!

I have Slim Series and use it.
I really don't think it's a good idea at all to do a SS workout and a Cathe workout in the same day. The low/no-weight, higher rep workouts of SS might seem like less strain on the body, but there is a lot of joint work going on. One can easily get symptoms of overtraining following the SS rotation as-is (one workout every day) as they are so similar. Adding Cathe to this would increase the risk of this.

When I did SS, I did miss heavy upper body work, so I would sometimes do SS Firm it up one day, then a Cathe heavy upper body workout the next.

Oh darn. I guess I'll just wait until the series is over, I don't want to stop motivating my friend to work out with SS.

Thanks for your advice Kathyrn!!

By the way, did you happen to get good results using SS?

How 'bout you motivate your friend by sharing with her the Cathe series?? What a great idea! :)

Poo on the Slim Series! :7 }( I have that Slim in Six thing, too, and couldn't even imagine going back to that now! I actually can't believe how poorly the thing was made (Debbie can't count, that's for sure - "Okay, let's do 4 more!" and then 10 reps later she finally stops. Or how 'bout when she does 12 reps on one side and 16 on the other or some such nonsense). Okay, okay -- enough raggin' on Debbie's Slim in Six. My bad. At least it gets people up and exercising, even if it's *yawn* as boring as reading an advanced level college biochemistry book.

At any rate, maybe you could incorporate a little Cathe into your weekly workouts with your friend. Maybe do a little Cardio Fusion one night or something. Or maybe pull out Power Hour and do that using low weights (your friend) instead of doing lame-o SS -- oops, my bad, again!!!

Before long your friend will be saying, "Slim what? Debbie who? Give me Cathe or give me death! Hurrah!!!" :7 Cathe = FUN; Debbie = *yawn*

HAHAHA Catwoman!!!!
I have to say I'm kind of yawning now, we're in our third week. I plan on introducing her to Cathe, just didn't want to shock her too bad or scare her out of it! She's doing great though, I shouldn't underestimate her - I like the power hour idea!

I second the nomination of PH for your friend, then ME. These are great high rep workouts that are similar in type to SS ( which I do have...yawn}( ), but are so much better done, better taught, better musically, just plain better!

Ha ha! Sounds like Billy Blanks. The man can't count AT ALL. When I used to do his Advanced workout every day I used to alternate what side I would start with each day so at least it would be somewhat "even".
