Today I am starting Body For Life!

I have been busy reading Bill Phillips Body for Life, as well as discussing it with some gals at a fitness chatroom.. I am doing everything right except for two things. 1. EATING nutritious. 2. Lifting heavy weights.

My journey begins today. In the program you take a picture of yourself. I bought a new bikini (they are half price through today at K-Mart) that is a little more revealing than a normally wear, meaning it shows my stomach. DH is going to take pictures of me after church. In the book I have noticed that in several of the before shots people are intentionally looking bad (frowning, no make up, pushing their guts out). My pictures will not be that way. In my pictures I will have on makeup and my hair will be fixed, I will not push my stomach out (but I will not suck it in either). These
pictures will be a true reflection of where I am today July 1, 2001. I will also wear a smile on my face, as I truly am happy to begin my journey.

The book also has you write goals, so here are a few of mine:

1. I can lose my last 10-15 pounds.

2. I will fuel my body with nutritious food.

3. I will lift heavier weights.

4. In the next 12 weeks I will be closer to my weight goal.

5. I will not quit this time and settle for 130.

Here are my vitals for the beginning of my journey

Weight 130
Height 5'3"
bicep 11.5"
bust 34"
waist 28.25"
hips 38"
Thighs 24"
calf 14"

Also I am beginning my punishment/reward thing today as well. If you don't see many posts from me, you will know that I have been bad!

P.S. I am so excitted about heavy weight lifting. I might have to buy some Cathe Weight tapes!

Congratulations!!!!!

I have read that book and it is so inspiring. I had thought about giving it a try and tweaking it alittle with doing cathe strength tapes instead of there program, and keep the nutrition the same. Are you planning on doing any supplements. Maybe I need to start this today, so we can keep each other
accountable;-) Anyone else out there doing body for life, if so let us know how your doing and if have incorperated Cathe strenght tapes in them.

Jennifer

Jennifer I am going to try it without the supplements. I think the expense of the suppplements would be more than this under paid school librarian (teacher) could handle.

Today I did the upper body weight workout from his book. It was great. I will probably tweak with it as well and make it my own. I too might use videos I have in place of the weight routines for example Standing Legs by the FIRM for the weight leg day.

I CAN NOT see myself just doing 20 minutes of aerobics. Will probably jsut use a regular aerobic tape.

Good Luck!!!! I've read the book and often buy his magazine (Muscle Media) at the newstand. It's chock full of ads for supplements, but I can't resist (just like I can't resist M & F Hers or Oxygen). There's supposed to be a new one out just for women this month called Energy! It will be published by the same Bill Phillips conglomerate.

I know several people who've done really well on the program, and my husband actually knows the male half of the winners in the couples category from last year (Todd Nissle), so I guess it's "legit."

Please keep us posted on your results! We'll be rooting for you! :-jumpy
