Tneah!

Hi Laura. I hope I'm not butting in here.

I did Obagi NuDerm about a year ago and I know that you can purchase the products online, but I don't believe that you can purchase the Retin A without going through a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that specializes in skin care. They will be able to evaluate your skin and put the products together to best suit your needs.

I'm actually thinking about doing another "round" again here pretty soon. Gotta save my pennies first...

Not Tneah, but hope I can help... I would see if your dermatologist has an esthetician on hand that you can make an appointment with. Mine does and she's free to see throughout the Obaji process. That way they can evaluate your skin and see how aggressive to treat it and you can purchase them through your doctor, if the price is competitive. My esthetician saw me every 6 weeks during the 6 month process. I'm in the maintenance process now. I am with Tneah though - it is the best if you give it your time.

Hey girl,

You already got the correct advice. You need to have a qualified person put you on a program, get your products and after you start to run out, you then you can buy your products from skinstore.com, that is what I do. They are the real deal and a reputable company.
I still however, get my retinol from my nurse, its not that expensive thank goodness, and keep in mind, that this stuff lasts forever! You will not be disappointed I promise.:)

When looking for a dermatologist do most of them use Obagi or do you have to inquire about the products they recommend first?

Finally made it to 50 and think I could stand to have a few of the lines erased a bit:p

Definitely ask before making an appointment! Most I know really love the line so you should be able to find one right away.

Thanks for the reply Tneah. Think I will get up a little courage to get started soon. I remember reading about the peeling and redness, etc so must pick a good time.

Winter may have been better because the sun is coming out strong here in CA right now?

I would start right away, the peeling can be gross, but it doesn't last forever and you use a strong sunscreen, so you should be fine, but ask your doctor, nurse or qualified pro about the best time for you to start.

Good advice!

The first time I did Obagi I started at the end of November. I was in full-peelage for all the Christmas parties that year. LOVELY!!!

Not good planning on my part. You can bet that the next go around, I'll plan it better!

If I were you I would try to go through your insurance somehow to see the dermatologist if you are having other skin issues (you mentioned budget and going can get pricey). This way the visit would be covered and you could take care of two things at once? :) or as other people mentioned you can try an esthetician (sp)? but I always trust the doctors more :)
