Tired of...

Rhonda

Cathlete
doing videos. Not sure what is wrong with me but I am just plain tired of weight training and cardio. As I was flipping through a couple magazines of mine, Oxygen and M&F Hers, I found a couple circuit training routines. I did the one from Oxygen this morning and wow it got my heart a pumping. I am going to do the other one tomorrow. I figure since there really is no weights used, mainly use own body weight, that it wouldn't hurt to do these everyday. The one is more cardio than the other but I think they will be fun for a while. Just trying to stick to something.

Has anyone else ever gotten into a rut like this, that nothing seems to be fun anymore.

I think burnout is a real issue for people who exercise regularly. I used to swim/play water polo 3-4 day/week for 3 years and completely burned out on it. It ceased to be fun and seemed like more a burden and chore. So I can commiserate with your current frame of mind and think that it is completely natural given the situation. I think you should go right ahead and mix up your routine by adding whatever other form/type/mixture of exercise you want. Exercising should make you feel good and happy to have done it. Don't lose the fun aspect because you think you have to stick with a certain type of routine to be healthy. The important thing is to keep moving and exercising, regardless of what it looks like. I imagine that if you take a break you will eventually miss your current type of routine and may choose to go back in the future. For now, do what feels right for you and it really can't be wrong, can it?

Keep us informed of how you're enjoying your new rotation!

I am with you on this one. I had so much on my mind this morning that it was all I could do to put in a tape and do it. :( Maybe it was because I felt rushed to get alot done today but I almost didn't want to work out at all. ;( I can't believe I even typed that but that is how I felt. It doesn't help that I thought I did well over the weekend and was up 2 pounds :-( this morning. I am hoping that it is just muscle since I rode the bike on the trainer for an hour and 48 min. on Sat. in 2 different sittings. All my measurements were the same so I am thinking really hard that it is muscle gain and the fact that I never drink enough water on Sundays. Maybe the break will do you good and then you can come back to your tapes revived and reenergized. :D I think everybody goes through this at some point or another. Don't feel like you are the only one.

Hang in there. ;)

I get into the "I don't want to do X type of workouts any more" ruts. Luckily for me, my vast workout collection lets me switch it up between step (which hasn't interested me for a while), kickboxing, and rebounding (the last two of which are now in my current rotation)for cardio.

I don't know what I'd do if I were tired of video workouts in general! There's no good health club around, and no good walking trails.

I am, however, getting the urge to do something "different" again, and may end up getting a spin bike one of these days.

So is this "the" time of the year for this or what Sherry? I'm right there with you all in the rut and it makes me soooo frustrated. Can it really be possible to look at all my Cathe videos and say "nope, don't feel like doing any of them, not even IMAX II". Just to tell you Rhonda I'm right there with you and I usually don't lack motivation - but I've just been zapped lately and don't feel like anything. Maybe I'll try biking, don't know (that's why I asked about the power yoga and what kind of tapes your doing (on another thread) Sherry and are these appropriate for prego's?). I guess I'm just looking for something to keep me going so I don't completely loose it. And maybe just taking a week break and getting back at it will help....it's nice to know I'm not alone!!
