Tipping Cab Drivers???

What's the rule on this? What percentage? Or is it by the amount? Everytime I get in a cab I know I overtip because I am afraid I won't give enough but I am not sure what the standard is. I am going on vacation and know I will need cabs to get around. Do I do a percentage of the amount like we do 20% for waitressing or nails?
Thanks!!

I always wonder about the same thing. I never know how much to give. We've been to Britain several times and attitudes there are totally different regarding tips. You actually are not expected to tip, say, in a restaurant.

I find this site helpful, although I think they suggest tips slightly higher than I would leave.

I don't use cabs that much, but I think I recall it's more like how many bags they help you with. Like $1 per bag per person? That may be way old, or completely off track.

When I was in Québec, I just tipped about 15% (ísn't that about standard for tipping? or has that gone up, too?)

I tip a lot. It depends on the base fare of course, but as a rule I tip a cab driver in the neighborhood of 30-35%.
