Time

I'm not yet very good with putting together rotations. I have been looking at the rotation forum and getting ideas (it's really hard figuring out all those abbreviationsx( as I have so few of the tapes)

My question is how much time do you spend per day exercising??
:)

I have to confess I usually exercise 1 hour: 30 minutes each day.Cathe is a "drug".

Hi Lisa,

I workout anywhere from 1-2 hours a day, 6 days a week, but 90 minutes is most typical. That's because I have the luxury of a flexible work schedule that allows me to do this. I think I could still get great results if I only had 30-60 minutes a day. How much time do you have each day?

Rotations are premised on working towards a goal of some sort, or accommodating personal preferences. The goals can be broad ("Work up a sweat 5 days this week, for an hour each"), or specific ("Build anaerobic capacity using interval training"). If you can clarify your own preferences/goals, we could probably guide you towards the workouts that would be most effective. Telling us how much time you have each day & how many days per week is also important to know.

Cheers!
Sandra

Sandra,

My goal is pretty general. Currently, I am about average in my fitness level. I do not have a problem with my weight. I am toned but would like more definition.

I love to exercise because of how it makes me feel. I do get bored really easy which is why I love the monthly rotations. I really like too how Cathe's rotations change their focus (i.e., endurance, strength, cardio, etc..) Since there is nothing inparticular that I wish to focus on except to get my overall fitness to a higher level (up to Cathe standards instead of Denise Austin or Kathy Smith), and possibly to have a body like Madonna or Cathe (for which my husband would love!)

My goal is to get all of Cathe's tapes so that I can start doing her rotations; but, until then I'm trying to improvise.

Currently this is what I have:
Circuit Max
Pure Strength legs
MIC
bootcamp
Bryan Kest tone yoga
Bryan Kest Sweat yoga
David Swenson First Series yoga
Yoga Fusion Kim Haegele
Fitprime up/down
Fitprime core first
CTX series (which is what I have been using for the past 6 weeks, so definitely time for a change)
I also have a gym membership

I have the time and am willing to commit to up to 60 min most days and 1.5 hrs a couple days to my fitness goals 6 days per week.

If you would like too suggest a rotation for me with what I have, as I increase my collection, you would be my hero for the day!!

Lisa, in fitness videofanatics you will find lot of rotations to enjoy.

Hey Lisa, I haven't forgotten about this post; just been too busy to think about it yet. I'll try to get back to you soon. I'm not familiar with your non-Cathe workouts, but am interested in learning more about the yoga tapes.

Talk to you soon,
Sandra

Hi, I typically workout between 5-6 days/week (usually 6). Usually only an hour on the weekdays but about 1.5 hrs on the weekends. Over the past almost two years, without dieting, I have lost a total of 16 lbs. and added a little over 4lbs muscle. I am 5ft. 7in and weigh 133lbs. I want to lose about 5 lbs more but will try cleaning my diet up some instead of adding more exercise.

On average, an hour - 6 days a week. Once in a while they'll be a workout in the rotation that takes upwards of an 90 minutes, but that's pretty rare. Also, I take short breaks (refill my Brita pitcher, accompany my daughter to the bathroom, go snag some more weights because I forgot which ones I need for the particular workout. I'm very disorganized). I'll also do Pilates for an hour on the 7th day.

I really don't like doing more than an hour, unless I'm home by myself. I don't like the fact that I'm separated from my daughter all day, and then add another 90 minutes where I'm not really paying attention to her when we get home. Then there's dinner to make, the kitchen to clean, and I'd like to get at least ONE chapter of my book read.

Once Stretch Max and Core Max come out, I'll probably add an extra 15 minutes to 3 workouts a week. I'm planning to replace the stretch at the end of the cardio workouts I do for the week with Stretch Max.

All righty-roo! Lisa, I have finally had a chance to catch up, and came up with a couple of weeks you might want to try. I stayed with what I know: Cathe's workouts. Feel free to sub any of your other workouts that you might prefer to do instead. I also get the impression that you are working with VHS tapes, and not DVDs, right? I have made that assumption, anyways, and did not put in any of the dvd premixes. Generally I went for some level of cardio 5 days a week, with 3 being challenging, and 2 being along the lines of "active rest", so they're combined with weight work. Feel free to skip the "active rest" cardios if you're needing a complete break from cardio on those days. I have put in weight work that works your entire body 2-3 times a week, both lightly and intensely. When doing more than one workout in a session, only do the warm up of the first workout, and the cool-down/stretch of the last workout.

WEEK ONE:
Mon: MIC
Tues: Kickbox (cardio); CTX Upper Body Split; Kickbox abs & stretch.
Weds: BootCamp
Thurs: PS Legs & abs
Fri: Circuit Max
Sat: Step & Intervals (cardio); Leaner Legs
Sun: yoga or complete rest

WEEK TWO:
Mon: All-Step (cardio); CTX Upper Body Split; All-Step abs & stretch.
Tues: MIC hi/lo; 10-10-10 (cardio); any CTX ab work & stretch.
Weds: Circuit Max
Thurs: Power Circuit (cardio); MIC step; Power Circuit abs & stretch.
Fri: PS Legs & abs
Sat: BootCamp
Sun: yoga or complete rest

Is FitPrime Up/Down a weight workout like Cathe's Pyramids? If so, feel free to sub the Fit Prime upper body weight work for the CTX Upper Body Split.

Your Cathe collection could strongly benefit from the following:
* IMAX or IMAX2 (interval training)
* Step Blast, Rhythmic Step, or any of her 60 minute steady-state cardios
* Pyramid Upper Body (intense upper body weights)

Of course, if you have a dvd player, the whole game changes, and a new door opens on a world of workouts beyond your wildest imagination..............:)

I look forward to hearing what you think about this.

Cheers!
Sandra

Hi Lisa!

I generally spend 30 to 60 minutes 4-6 days per week exercising. My absolute mininum is 30 mins and occassionally I DO go over an hour but not very often.

Hi,

I usually work out about 1 hour a day 6 days a week. I do try to add an extra 30 min of stretching twice a week. I normally do the extra 2 stretch workouts on the weekend. I still try do at least 10-15 min of stretching per day. My body really seems to need the extra stretching nowadays, so I try not to skimp on those.

Aila:)

Sandra Thank you soooo much!!

This is awesome!! Yes, you were right. I do use vhs. I love the rotation you put together and will be starting it on Monday!!

I plan to start using the dvd's but will probably wait until I am ready to purchase the body blast series. Until then, I'm going to stick with the vhs for the older tapes just because I can get them sooo cheap on ebay.;) I also think that since I am not very good with putting the rotations together, I will just start from the beginning....doing the rotations Cathe has put together. Someone had listed a thread that contained them all. I don't think I'm ready to start in with her newest things yet as it appears they are a little more difficult than the older ones. But I do feel I'm a little more advanced that her beginner/intermediate 'newbie'.

The Fitprime tapes are made by the "older" girls from the original 'Firm' tapes. I use to do the 'Firm' and thought these tapes would be really good. However, I was really disappointed when I got them. They are more of a total body workout; but, neither tape has very much upper body. Neither tape flows very well either, so I think I'll just leave them where they are....somewhere in the back of my closet!!

Yoga is awesome!! I use to teach full-time when I lived in Houston. I spent a whole lot of time learning myself, practicing, and teaching. This left little time for any other form of exercise...after a while I began to notice that my strength and cardio were definitely lacking. Yoga is good for building strength but not anything like you get with lifting heavy weight. I still practice asana, but not nearly as much. I more or less use it for my stretching after working out now. Yoga, however, is with me forever and I focus more on the philosophy and practice of the principles. There are some great videos out there. My personal favorite is Bryan Kest. I actually studied with him and he is really a great guy (plus he is nice to look at!) Rodney Yee is also really good. I would stay away from some of the celebrity videos unless you can pre-view them (Ali McGraw actually has a good one).

Thanks again for the rotation. You'll see it posted!!
