Tight hamstring

Does anyone else have this problem or know what to do about it?

I know that it's natural to be more flexible on one side than the other, but my right hamstring is sooooooo much tighter than my left. I assume that this is because my right side is my dominant side and I use the muscles more, but there is quite a difference between my right and left hamstrings. I started Yoga last summer, and my flexibility has improved dramatically. But this darn hamstring is still so tight. If anything, it's tighter than it was before. I was wondering if I was trying to stretch it too much and that was what was making it tighter. I don't expect my right leg to have the same flexibility as my left leg, but I would like it to be close. Since a lot of stretches and/or poses involve both legs, I'm always too tight in my right leg and not feeling it in my left.

I do not have an answer but I am like you, not the right hamstrings both both legs, I suffer of tight hams since for ever and I have been streching them since year 2000 when I started to change my lifestyle and excercise, so I have been in yoga, pilates and I am fustrated I can not keep up with the rest of the class, I am not the only one either, some women have the same problem, I guess is because I am a runner, and two I am just having that problem, I still stretch till the point of tension but not pain and I hate flexible people LOL and also my cat who sleeps all day and then he shows off his flexibility when I am doing cardio video with Cathe.grrrr

I too have a tight hamstring, but it is on the left. This is the weak side of my body. I don't know if it happened when I used to do the firm where some of the olders volumes had front kicks. I really pulled it bad. I couldn't use it for awhile. But I stretch my as much as possible. I stretch after workouts and do stretch 3 times a week. This has made my flexibity so much better. When there are times I can't do stretch max and go a few days without a good stretch, I start getting tight again. IMO you could never stretch enough.

I have yoga dvds and pilates,but they never seemed to benefit me in that way. But stretch max is the dvd that my hamstrings love. And of course the rest of me.

I'm with you on those hamstrings.
