Hi Ladies!
I'm BAAAAAAAACK! Sorry I was MIA. Been busy a couple of days and when I was going to post on Tuesday, the forums were down. Here's a brief synopsis of my week:
Sunday - 3 chins
Monday - Physique 57 Classic - Another barre workout. Everyone kept raving about this one but I didn't feel as challenged as I thought except for some plank and pretzel work. Pretty good workout but I like Ultimate Advanced Cardio Barre better.
Tuesday - 3 pullups; 4 chinups and Reach by Kari Anderson.
Wednesday - My first kundalini yoga experience - Journey Through the Chakras with Ravi and Ana. Kundalini definitely isn't my thing. Didn't get that great feel good vibe like I do from other yoga but it definitely is good to help with breathing/endurance. It seemed like they did breath of fire with every pose and the poses didn't seem to do much for me.
Today - Ultimate Advanced Cardio Barre - Really enjoyed my workout today. My arms were fried with just 2# weights and I couldn't even finish all the reps!
Yesterday our expansion water tank blew and we had a mild flood in our laundry room. Another bill we didn't need! It's amazing the markup plumbers charge. My DH went to Home Depot to check out the cost and they were a fraction of what they charged us but at least we didn't need a whole new water heater.
On the good side, I've lost 2 pounds since last week. I'm probably going to stick to low impact workouts for awhile longer. I'm enjoying myself and seem to be eating less.
Deanie/Melissa - Hope you enjoy some personal down time after all the running around you've been doing.
Deanie - Yeah for DS! Is the bar mitzvah this weekend?
Melissa - Burpees don't bother me as much as they used to. Of course, I probably don't do nearly as many as you did.
I have done P90X twice (well, almost twice - I had to stop a couple of weeks before because I was moving.) I enjoyed the rotation. Definitely helped with strength - never did pullups or chinups before P90X. Cardio wasn't as intense as Cathe but not intended to be. The first time I stuck with Plyo X to see how much I improved with the workout over time but the second rotation I switched things up and did other cardio. Believe it or not, P90X was what got me back into doing yoga. I really didn't like Yoga X but once I started looking at other yoga, I never looked back. Even though it's called a recovery week, recovery weeks aren't light. Core Synergistics is a tough workout and it's done twice that week. I found the second month workouts much tougher - Chest, Shoulders & Tris and Back & Bis. These were my toughest workouts. I managed to do clapping pushups by the end of my rotation. Back & Bis has some really tough pullups in it. Ab Ripper X got pretty boring after awhile and lots of times I didn't have time to do it after the strength workouts. (4DS core workouts are very similar to Ab Ripper X). I like Abs/Core+ from the P90X+ workouts better - more variety and more fun (has standing, sitting, lying and hanging moves).
If you're looking for strength/definition, you will get it. I didn't really lose any weight with P90X. I was really hungry all the time. These workouts also take a lot out of you. I was especially tired the first week or two. You can choose between doing 8-10 reps or 12-15 reps. I did the Classic rotation with 8-10 reps. There is a Doubles rotation which has more cardio. Lots of people thought it was light on the leg workouts. Basically there's only one leg workout (Legs & Back) which is mostly non-weighted and a little yoga based and the rest of the leg work comes from Kenpo (kickboxing), Plyo X (Intervals) and yoga. This is where I really improved with my chinups/pullups; I guess because my upper body was rested enough while doing legs. I didn't do nearly as well with the pullups/chins during Back & Biceps. I really needed the extra rest. P90X+ is more endurance based and no lower body workout except for some moves in Total Body.
Jane - Barbara looks brutal! Hope you make it through!
Gayle - Did you hear Eoin's coming out with a new DVD - Happy Hips? This one is definitely on my wish list. Enjoy your bangs!
Sorry for my long post!
Waves to Rhonda!
