Three Things I've Learned about Me and Food

Bunbun

Cathlete
My SO has been out of town for a family emergency for a month. He normally does all the food shopping and cooking, and today I realized I have learned 3 valuable rules for shopping and cooking for food on my own:

1. Even if I think I have enough frozen veggies in the freezer, I don't, so buy more.

2. Every day, I eat the equivalent of a small horse. x(

3. See rule #1.

arrggh. It's never ending! Where does all the food and the frozen veggies that I buy go?! How can I possibly be packing in this much food?! :p

What I have learned about Me and Food:

(1) I need more carbs

(2) When I sample food at Costco's, my tongue always lets me know what is fake meat and what is the real thing. Most of the time, the chicken is fake. I love to sample the steak though and cheeses.

(3) I can never eat enough PBJ sandwiches. My favorite. I go thru a jar of peanut butter in 2 weeks between sandwiches and protein shakes.

LOL!!!

I have more than three things, but these three i must mention:

1.) i will never be able to fully live without pizza...ever. I crave it if i don't have it in a seven day perios

2.) There is always frozen veggies that fell down behind other boxes in the freezer... but they are almost always now not edible

3.) I'm a big PB fan too!! Love it on whole wheat toast. Love it in protein shakes... just love it!!

Ooh...forgot PB! Should have made it 4 things about food. Either that or we start a new thread: What's your PB obsession?
}(

1. Life without chocolate is uncivilized. And why it just isn't a food group unto itself is unfathomable! :)

2. Portion size is food's way of screwing with your brain (and your stomach) - ha!

3. Food and I get along too well, you know what I mean?

1. I simply cannot live without peanut butter. I'd rather go without chocolate, and that's saying a lot!
2. I have very little willpower. The only way for me to not eat junk food is to make sure it's not in the house.
3. I am a carb addict, and I don't care.

My three:

1. There is no such thing as just a few spoonfuls of ice cream.
2. The idea of "portion control" is just a joke.
3. No day is complete without popcorn.

Hmmm... this is truly "food for thought" ;)

1. I will always enjoy chocolate, and you will have to pry these Dove dark chocolate Promises from my cold dead hands... }(

2. Becoming a vegetarian was the best thing I ever did for my health, and my waistline.

3. There is no such thing as "just 1 cookie" for me. It's usually more like "Just 4 or 5 cookies..." (Well, I bake really good cookies!)

There are so many more I could come up with... but I'll quit while I'm ahead. ;)

Let's see:

1. I'm deluded if I think I don't eat very much - writing down everything I eat in one day is a real eye-opener

2. I could probably live without chocolate, I could definitely live without ice cream, but I could not ever live without cookies

3. I'm also a carb addict - bread, potatoes, crackers, pasta, rice.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... YUMMY!

I can only think of two right off the top of my head.

1)If I am hungry, eat now or binge later

2)When I am hungry, don't eat crap or that is exactly what I will feel like, not to mention the heaping sides of guilt that go along with it.

3)(I thought of a third one!) When I want chocolate, get out of my way!!! }(

Missy

1. I can't live without butter
2. Watermelon can satisfy a sweet tooth, but chocolate does it better.
3. Moderation works better than deprivation

Sparrow

Sparrow already said one of the things I wanted to say (#3 on her list), so I'll only add two:

*Out of sight, out of mind -- if it's not in the house, I don't get to eat it.
*Carbs are not a "necessary evil".

Great thread!

1. The moment I decide to cut back on unclean food, everyone within a 50 foot radius of me will bring junk food to the office or my home.

2. I can't buy bulk bananas at Sam's. They will go bad before I can eat all of them.

3. What I eat is way too closely tied to my self worth.

Becky

Mmmm, Becky, I have an idea! Banana Bread! Or muffins! I do this and pass them out to family and friends. I use whole wheat flour and turbinado instead of white flour and sugar and it is deeeee-licious!

Missy

Freeze the really ripe bananas. You can then pull them out and blend into smoothies, make banana "ice cream" or thaw and use for baking. Or just eat them sliced frozen!

Great post!

1) If I don't eat *crap*, I can pretty much eat as much as I want.
2) Carbs are not evil, they are a necessity. However, if I eat both carb and protein at the same meal, I stay satisfied much longer
3) FF/Sugar Free chocolate pudding or fudgcicles satisfy a chocolate craving pretty well.

1. I love any food that you can eat the whole thing of as a portion
2. buffets are the death of me
3. coffee = LOVE & often makes me not eat as much
