I was looking at the weight watchers online because there is a deal right now. I didn't really like ediets and was wondering how this might be different. I don't really like tracking my meals online because I find it so time consuming but I'm wondering if there is something else about WW online I might like. BTW...I did go to meetings years ago and was doing points at that time.

What do you like about the online program? Why do you find it beneficial?

I am doing WW online, but also counting calories at sparkpeople.com. Some say that is obsesive, but I find that I don't get enough calories with WW.

The online trackers allows you to search through meal choices and enter what you ate it assigns it a point value. If I know the NI form the box, the I enter the calories, fat grams, and fiber grams to get a point amount. It has a box for you to check off your dairy, fruits, veggies, oil, vitamin, activity, and water.

You can choose to do the core plan. Basically, that is just VERY CLEAN eating. You choose from a list of foods that you can eat and only eat when hungry and stop when satisfied. YOu have an addition 35 points a week to eat non core foods.

Any more questions?

I can track what I eat in my written journal. Are there tons of recipes and motivational tools that would make it worth it?

After several years of doing WW and writing down everything I eat, I tried the online program a couple of months ago when they had a deal to try a week for free. I cancelled after a couple of days and went back to the old fashioned way! It is SO complicated. I spent hours trying to figure it out and to understand what all the resources were. I could never figure out if I was really saving my information or how to get it back. There are recipes, but you can access plenty from the website - plus lots of other recipes web sites - without paying for it. I thought I would like the forums, but after a couple of days I thought - You know, I really don't need to talk about food that much! I guess it works for some people, but it looked to me like they had just crammed a bunch of stuff on the web site to create a reason to charge people money for it.

Truthfully, no, there are not a lot of motivational tools. Also, the recipes are good, but so is a cookbook! I won't be renewing my membership in march.

I spenda lot of my time in front of my laptop, so I would rather track online than with paper. However, I would rather keep my $17 a month!

I attend meetings and do online tracking. Since I work at a computer all day it is very easy to track my points and exercise online. You can create your own food and meal library and it tracks your points. There is a forum you can join if interested and tons of recipes. It also provides a wieght loss chart that can be motivational if your weight is going down.

If you are happy with your paper journal then just keep doing that. Sometimes they offer 1 week free and you can try it and see if you like it.
