This is funny! Tell me what you think.

Okay ladies, I know you will think this is crazy or hillarious. Dh,my two kids and I have our own computers and we love them dearly! Well last weekend I am IM with a friend when my son pops up. So i chat with him back and forth and before you know it he is doing it all the time! I am upstairs and he's down and we are IM each other. How funny is that?:D The thing about it is that we talk in a different way through the computer. It is more of a friendship talk. I in a way like it being able to just discuss things with him. We send each other smiley faces and act crazy. This is the same with my daugther. Is this telling me we are not talking enough one on one. I think we have pretty good talks from time to time. It is weird how I can be on them about homework and they will IM me and we will start chatting crazy! They tell me it is easier to face me through the computer! You should have seen the smiley I put on them then!

My brother came over and sad that we were some crazy people with all of the computers. I said shoot, we fight over the bathroom but I will not fight over a computer!

I just wanted to hear you opinions on how crazy we are. Who else IM's someone in the same house? Let me know if you do!

LOL, Kim, my family is like that too. Everyone has a laptop and IM! I've been known to be upstairs at my mom's and IMing her downstairs to ask where the big towels are...

We also each have our own laptops. I don't IM with my DH because he refuses to use AOL or AIM. But my three daughters and I are always IMing each other from different rooms in the house. We love it. It's lots of fun. If you're crazy, then so are we!!!:)

We'll even IM each other from different couches in the same room. It's hilarious.

It's much easier to be open and honest when no one is looking at you, especially a mom or dad. I love IM, DH and I will IM in the house as well - just jokey back and forth stuff here and there. I really like the Audibles on yahoo messenger, they're hilarious and they change them up quite often.

I've only IM'd my daughter a couple of times. Funny thing is, if I walked upstairs to her bedroom and asked her to wash the dishes she'd give me an excuse but when I IM'd the request she IM'd back "sure" and came downstairs and did 'em!

She calls me on her cell phone when I'm at work, too, and we talk more then than when we're all home together.

I probably should mention that she's 18 and attends college full-time and works part-time...and we just both got our own laptops and cellphones this year.

I agree, it is funny to communicate this way inside the house BUT the dishes did get washed!

CuryQ you are right it is easier when you are not face to face. And yes those audible are hilarious. When we send each other those smileys that talk we laugh to no end. I think it is actually good for our relationships to do this. heck my daughter had a problem and she got on and we talked about it and not that she can't come to me but it probably was more comfortable for her.

LOL! Michele, IM means Instant Message.... like with MSN Messenger or Yahoo Instant Messenger, etc. :)

Kim: I'm with you. I can't imagine pre IM and cell phones. My daughter is at college and we stay in close touch as well that way.

I find that I keep up with my IM friends so much more than others. I SO Hate the phone, unless driving!

I will IM with my boys too. It is fun too see one of them come online while I am at work and to chat with them. And I agree - there are certainly times when asking them to do something over IM works better than face to face.

Although my son thinks it is funny to block me every now and then. He always puts me right back on - but funny in the meantime...

I LOVE my IM!!!

OOOOOHHHHH--thank you, Emily. I have never used either of these services. Honestly, I've never heard of this stuff. Geez--I'm hopeless . LOL!

That is too cute Kim. Actually, I am wary of IM, with all those viruses & such but I also type painfully slow. The few time's I've tried with some friends, I think they got bored with me.

I have been known to call my daughter's cell to have her bring up a Diet Coke for me from downstairs.
