Thinking of Cathe at the dentist

elsie3

Cathlete
Hi all:

The radio station at the dentist's office this morning was playing "Buttercup." So I immediately thought of the routine from Cario & Weights--"you'll be singing this one all day." I tried to go over the steps while the dentist was drilling, but it didn't help much. I switched to Bryan Kest's "breathe deeply to the bottom of your lungs," but I was still totally tense.

I think I'll do some yoga now and see if it helps with this massive headache.

hope everyone else had a better morning,

Nope, sorry Kassia! But just know that we're singing a duet in our heads from miles away.:) }(

Happy day,

Carol F

I often see the second meanings of things (something I picked up from my literary criticism background), so I was thinking you were imagining Cathe at the dentist (ie: Cathe was at the dentist, not you thinking of Cathe while you were at the dentist).

It was a strange thought!

Kathryn...you're so freaking funny!!!

Buttercup is a much better song than Mariah Carey's "Shake it off"...can't stand that song...especially when she's trying to "dance" to it! It's on VH1 about 7 times while I'm on the treadmill!

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

"I'll be over at ten", you told me time and again
But you're late, I wait around and then (bah-dah-dah)
I run to the door, I can't take any more
It's not you, you let me down again

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time, and I'll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

You were my toy but I could be the boy you adore
If you'd just let me know (bah-dah-dah)
Although you're untrue, I'm attracted to you all the more
Why do I need you so

(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time and I'll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone waiting for you
Ooo-oo-ooo, ooo-oo-ooo

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

I-I-I need you-oo-oo more than anyone, baby
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart

I now realize how sad the song actually is. And now, I'll be singing it all day. Of course, my son will be asking me what I'm singing, and then I'll say it's an old song. Then he'll ask me how old I REALLY am. Then it'll be downhill from there.:)

Pinky

Well Pinky...if you are all downhill, then I am buried. I am as old as dirt! :7

Mama Deb, I can only hope I age as GRACEFULLY as you have.:) I just feel depressed, for some odd reason I can't put a finger on, when my little boy asks me what a vhs or a cassette tape is, or why libraries have the Dewey decimal system when it's so easy to do searches on the internet. Oh, how times have changed.:)

Pinky

ooh thanks now i have to see if i can get it on my windows playlist.]

Thanks Pinky!

You made my day! I know what you mean. If you think things have changed for you, you can imagine the changes I've seen in the past almost 53 years! VHS tapes weren't even around in my "early days! YIKES! But, we did have record players also know as turntables. I looked up turntables in keyword: The turntable is a flat metal plate covered with rubber on which the record sits. Most turntables operate at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm. Some turntables also operate at 78 rpm, a playback speed used in making records until the 1950's. Sooo, since I was born in the early 50's, mine operated at 33 1/3 & 45 RPM. Your history lesson for TODAY! :)

Hey DebbieH!

Your post made me giggle, GF. Boy, we really MUST be old! DH and I still HAVE a working turntable because we own a humongous collection of ---gasp-- classic vinyl ALBUMS. :) (And by the way, when a band releases something new, we call it an "album," not a "CD.")

And I've got two words to make you giggle. Ready? Okay, here they are: Eight Track. }(

RE: Hey DebbieH!

Hey Kathy - Keep those vinyl records. Ever notice how much better the sound quality is on them for both classical and blues or jazz? CDs just can't capture the depth of that kind of music!

Mama Deb - I love the crane sequential kick smiley. Nice touch!

Kathy and Lorrie!

Kathy-yep, the ole 8-tracks! We have some of those around here somewhere! I think we got rid of our turntable when we moved. I'll have to go see. Thanks Lorrie! He's cute, isn't he? I have some records somewhere around here too. Have a great day you guys!

We used to play Simon Garfunkel on the 8 track and our favorite song was Cecilia!

Oh, Cecilia you're breakin' my heart
You're shakin my confidence baby
Oh, Cecilia I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you please to come home...
