Think this should be a new workout in itself ..

Ok .. had to wash the dogs last night (they are house dogs with allergies).. my big baby (the male) .. is about 130+ pound of muscle and unfortunely fat ..

I need a video of me trying to lift him into the bathtub .. and trying to fit in there with him to wash him .. his coat repels water so trying to get him wet to the skin is next to impossible .. he is very patient and loves to get clean .. but man what a workout ..

The female is not quite as bad (about 98 pounds) .. but between lifting and bending and reaching .. my back and legs were worn out .. LOL .. OH and then we have the towel dry off frenzy ... something worthy of a sitcom in itself ...

Then I am left with a bathroom full of wet towells and wet walls to clean up ....

If you need a good workout and a good laugh .. feel free to come wash my babies .. LOL!!:7

Poochy that is really hilarious--I can bathe my pug in the tub (& he actually loves it) but I would never have attempted it with Cosmo, who was a mere 80 lbs........evidently a miniature compared to your dogs. :p

Have you ever considered one of those mobile pet groomers? They come right out to your house & do the job for you..........

LOL ..portable pet groomers .. LOL .. I wish .. if there was one around they would charge extra .. LOL

I really should video it b/c it is the funniest thing .. I crack myself up at how we must look .. DH walks in and just laughs .. (yeah he is no help whatsoever)..

DH contribution was to buy me one of those shower hoses to make it easier to reach around Buster's big butt .. LOL ..

But come summertime ..aaahhh yeessss .. outside baths!!!:)

Sorry, but this is funny, because this is the problem we have, my male is 129 pounds, he is on diet food right now, but my huband has trouble getting him in and out of the tub, and when we go places with the dogs, we have to take the car, because my male dog can't possibly jump up into the SUV like my smaller girl can. my husband works 12 hours a day, and he is gone a lot, so i have problems walking my dogs regularly, because I have to put my son in the stroller, and hold 2 leashes. Hopefully , the diet, and playing catch with him in the yard will help him lose a few pounds, the vet says he should weigh about 95 pounds. maybe then, it will be easier to coerce him into the tub!! right now , when my DH can't bathe him, he has to go to the groomers.

luvmylabs .. I feel your pain .. Buster is a bit overweight .. but close to what he should be .. I need to walk him more than I do .. but see he is addicted to the golf cart and wants to ride everywhere .. he sits in it and refuses to get out until it moves .. LOL!!!

.. but when I do walk/run him .. he has 2 speeds .. a trot .. which is my run .. and a full out sprint which leaves me dragging behind w/heels in the air .. LOL (another sight to behold) ..

I would never attempt to walk him with a child in tow .. bless your heart ... :)

Thanks Poochy, I sometimes feel guilty about not taking him for regular walks, but stroller and 2 dog leashes dont go well together, maybe I need to up my weight workouts!!!LOL :)

Hey poochy
LOL...your story reminds me when I was younger with all my job adventures,I worked for a pet groomer and my first dog, very sweet golden retriever, had a bit of a weight problem and I had a asmtha attack trying to get the sucker in the bathtub. The Lady I was working with freaked out and called 911,well Needless to say that poor dog was my first and last dog wash client!

And OMG,130pds you poor thing,I don't event think I could lift that much!:)

Take Care!

I have an old dog that can't jump up into the extended cab of our truck anymore. My husband made a box out of 3/4" plywood that the my dog uses as a step.

Thanks Lauramax .. wish we did have something like that around here .. there is nothing around here that would travel to my house in the booneys! ...

but oh how cute is that website .. and what a great idea .. someone here could make a lot of money doing that .. hhmmmm .. maybe a good second/third career for me .. LOL .. if I can handle my big baby I can handle anything!! LOL

What I don't understand is why I cannot keep my dog out of the creek at the farm (even in godawful cold weather) but she balks at getting in the tub at home.

It is so funny that you mentioned the mobile pet groomers. I am actually having one come on Friday. They are called Traveling Tails Dog Spaw. First time using this. Her fee is $40 (cheaper than the groomer I used to take her to) and it should only take about 1 1/2 hours as oppossed to the 8 hours at the groomer because they are too busy (who knows what kind of treatment she gets). We'll see how it works. I have a sheltie and brushing her is a workout.
