My DH bought me all the new DVD's for Christmas. (He's so sweet). anyway, I have a question about
The Terminator series. I understand The Gauntlet, Imax Xtreme, and the Viper are taken from the
Intensity series. But my question is with each title....what do they focus on? I mean are they all
endurance, cardio, ??? I assume Imax Xtreme is cardio based. Does anyone know? I tried to figure it
out, but would like to find out for sure. Thanks a bunch.

Hi Faythe,

I probably do not have the exact answer for you, but I
am on a Terminator rotation right now. All three are a
total body workouts, minus ab work. They all seem to have
a different focus. The Gauntlet seems to focus on the lower body for heavy weights and upper for lighter with a great mix of cardio from
Imax and Boot Camp. The Viper seems to focus on the upper body with cardio. Imax Extreme is mucho cardio with compound weights. There are alot more knowledgeable people on this board who could explain this better for you. Hopefully they'll respond to you as well.
Good luck.:D

Actually, I totally agree with Fembot's analysis. I did Gauntlet last Thursday for the first time, and I'll be doing I-Max-Extreme this Thursday. Gauntlet was 110% enjoyable.

Hi Faythe,
After having done all of the Terminator workouts, I think the easiest way to use them is to think of them this way:

Imax Extreme-Use it to replace Imax or Imax2 in a rotation. The weights in it are minimal--they are more of a break from the cardio IMO, but they keep the HR up.

Viper-You could consider it Cardio and Weights Extreme. It is circuit work like C&W but looong. No abs. I would use it to replace C&W in a rotation if I was feeling ambitious.

Gauntlet--I think of this as Boot Camp Extreme. I would use it the way you use BC. (although there aren't abs) THis is one tough workout. A lot of intervals closely spaced and lots of lower body work that keeps the HR up. Your upper body will be worked out too, I just remember after the first time I did it how sore my rear end was!

Anyway, that's how I boiled them down. These are my favorite part of the series. Cathe is a genius. Janet

Thanks Janet! That was a great synopsis. I will keep that in my roation notes. though I'm a bit scared!

I did my own "Insanity" combination today, starting with the Viper because I wanted upper body work. I did it all, except for fast forwarding over the very limited leg weight segment. THEN, after feeling I'd not worked quite hard enough, I put on the BootCamp DVD and did all the cardio. Next time I'll just up my step height to 8" instead of 6".

I'm going to try the Gaunlet next week with NOTHING tacked on. This is my first experience with DVD's - they're cool!

I will attempt to do the Gaunlet next week too. I previewed it today and it appears my body is in for a lot of work. Let me know how you like it.
