The Super Step vs. Regular Step

Hello all. I am writing to inquire as to which step would be better to purchase. I need to update my step. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether it is worth it to order the Super Step Bench (I believe Cathe uses this one in most of her videos if she is incorporating weight training) or should I just stick with the regular Step with the 4 risers? It is much cheaper in stores. Absolutely need it before the big arrival of HC!!!!!!!

thanks

Hi Aimee! WELCOME!!! I would definitely get the regular Club Step. I have both and the Super Step tips much easier then the regular bench. It even tipped on me once doing tricep dips. I like it for a bench for weight work and the inclines are great but the regular step works just as well. Nice to have you here!

I tried the Super Step (bought it from Walmart.com at a great price). I also bought the Club Step from FW (I already had the Fanny Lifter and blue incline boxes from The Firm). I used all three and decided on the Club Step which I feel is the most stable and versatile as the risers work with the high step top. Just my two cents!

Aimee,
I agree with DebbieH. The club step is MUCH better for stepping. As for a weight training bench, they both work.

Keep in mind that a lot of weight training exercises that Cathe does on the bench don't have to be done on the bench if you have carpeting. In fact, the only exercises that need to be done on the bench are the exercises that require an incline (usually chest flyes or chest presses). Any exercise where Cathe says your arms should not go below the surface of the bench can be done on the floor. And I prefer the floor because you can easily reach all of your weights and not worry about dropping them. Also the bench is very hard, and your carpeting is probably much more comfortable to lie on.

You don't need the bench, in my opinion. I have the club step and the high step. This gives me 8 risers, the club step top and the high step top. you can use the 8 risers to create a bench with the club step...4 on each side. That is what I do for PUB. However, that is not even a "must". The club step would work just fine. Also, the thing is hard to lay on, not comfy, the florr is much more comfy. It's all Cathes fault, she took all my body fat away so I have no "cushioning"! Ah, it's why I love her!

In short, get the club step because you will need that at least 4 days a week and use it for a bench or use the carpet. Got to Walmart or walmart.com for the best prices.

Debbie, thank you so much for your response and informative advice. I could see how it probably would tip now that you mention it. You just saved me 50 bucks. Thanks again.

Aimee:)

Nancy, thank you so much for the excellent tips on which to step to buy. I am on my way to Walmart this week. The scary place that it is around here especially with a four year and one year old in these sub zero upstate NY temps. thanks again.

Did you get your step yet? Does Walmart around here carry them? I am in upstate NY too (Rochester area), and yesterday was frigid! I am so surprised that all schools were open and it was Zero degrees. Appartntly, the wind chill has to be at negative 20 or less for school to close. The wind chill was negative 15.
I wouldn't let my young teens wait at the bus stop. And my "senior" took 43 minutes to drive to school normally it is an 18" drive. At least he left early and wasn't late.

Today is much better, but hold on we are getting a storm this weekend....

That is so funny you are in Rochester. I am in Syr. and originally from Bflo. I haven't gotten to Walmart yet to check since my 4 year old is still fighting a nasty cold, ear infection, and now has pinkeye (which he has never had and hasn't had any ear trouble since he was 6mos. old!) figures. I just don't even feel like going out today with these temps not to mention the SNOW! I guess winter really is coming afterall. And we have been so lucky this year. Hubby is in GA for the week of course and the weather isn't so great there either, high's of 35-40. We are getting hit with alot of snow and I have to somehow get out and shovel while my one year old naps. Woo hoo! You guys really got hit is sounds. Yesterday here was cold but sunny.

I did see a step at Dick's for $50 but I believe it is the smaller width which is similar to what I have. I have to double check the measurements.

Glad to know there are other Cathe fanatics in the neighborhood:)

Stay warm.

Aimee

Hi Aimee. Who says you have to go out in that nasty weather to buy your step? Buy it online. Check Cathe's homepage for links to fitness stores that sell steps. I agree with the other posters by the way, the club step is the way to go as the super step is only recommended for weight work.

Keep warm and I hope your four year old feels better soon.

Jacque (in sunny AZ where the high today is 75 degrees:)

Hi Jacque! Thanks so much for your "warm" wishes and your info on the step purchase. Still haven't gotten it. Too much keeping me busy now that one year old Benny is sick. (Figures) Love the comment about your weather. Very funny. I used to live in S. FLORIDA!!! What was I thinking coming back up here.

Sorry, I should be sending my notes individually rather than posting them here on the forum. Sorry everyone.
