The shrinking town!

I had to share this weekends experience.
No wonder I workout and try to stay the size I am, and sometimes I even want to be smaller. Its b/c of the town I live in.
I had a wedding this weekend(if you click on the link below you can see some of the pics). There were quit a few younger couples at the wedding, which made for an awesome party. Some of these girls I know farely well,I don't call them on the phone but when I see them,I talk to them. And most of them have had babies in the last couple of years and started these little baby play groups AND most of them....their DH's work at the same place, making good money and they are ( i think, without even knowing it) are in competition with each other.
When I saw some of the girls that I hadn't seen in a few monthes,I couldn't beleive my eyes, they had gotten soooooooooooooo thin, it was rediculous.
And you know, its just the town I live in. I live in one of those places where everyone knows you, everyone is watching you (to see if you are going to do anything wrong),everyone as to have the "bigger" house, everyone as to have one up on someone else.I am just so happy I am not like this. It just takes to much effort and work to be competiting with people all the time.
So,I am assuming that they took it to a new level, they are all wanting to be the smallest. If there were 150 women at the wedding I was at,maybe 20 of them were overweight.
When I mentioned it to my friend (who is constintly shrinking)she said she noticed the same and a few other people had mentioned it to her.
Anyway, anyone else live in a place like this? Its probably not to good for some people who have issues.

Well Lori,

It does sound like you had a very interesting experience at the wedding you were at. I agree that it sad that people constantly compete with each other and measures that they take to be better or have more than someone else. More often than not, those people are living a lie and although they would like for you to believe that they are happy and content, quite the opposite is true.

But...you know what? There's nothing that we can do about the way they are. All you can do is hope that they will see the light and learn through experience what true happiness really is. One thing for sure that no matter how far you think you have come, there is always going to be something or someone that is a step ahead of you...so why torture yourself. Just be the best you can be and do that best you can do for the right reasons.

You just can't get caught up...it's a terrible place to be.
